KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Malaysia’s Muslim men are suffering sleepless nights and cannot pray properly because their thoughts are distracted by a growing number of women who wear sexy clothes in public, a prominent cleric said.
Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, the spiritual leader of the opposition Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, said he wanted to speak about the “emotional abuse” that men face because it is seldom discussed, the party reported on its Web site Wednesday.
“We always [hear about] the abuse of children and wives in households, which is easily perceived by the eye, but the emotional abuse of men cannot be seen,” Nik Abdul Aziz said. “Our prayers become unfocused and our sleep is often disturbed.”
Nik Abdul Aziz has made controversial comments about women in the past, including that women should stop wearing lipstick and perfume to lower the risk of being raped. Women’s groups have slammed his statements, saying Islam teaches both men and women to be responsible for modesty. They say comments like these encourage rapes because it puts the onus on women.

Nik Abdul Aziz’s fundamentalist party has about 800,000 members. He is also the chief minister of northeastern Kelantan, the only one of Malaysia’s 13 states that is not ruled by the moderate National Front governing coalition.
His party’s Web site published an illustration Wednesday of how women should dress — in long, flowing headscarves covering their hair and chests and “baggy and loose” long-sleeved, floor-length dresses.
- This guy has either never seen a Florida beach babe or he is gay. Women wear what you want not what is chosen for you by a minion.
Most women from Malaysia’s Malay Muslim majority wear a modest form of Islamic clothing, though younger women in cities sometimes wear body-hugging dresses or tight T-shirts and jeans.
In Kelantan, the Islamic party has fined Muslim women for not wearing headscarves in workplaces and implemented separate check-out lines for men and women in supermarkets.

You know I am not defending any of this, but you gotta admit that if some women in America didn’t dress like they did, we could probably up production across the nation. I’m just saying that I see women on a daily basis that distract me, making ne subject to the thought police and forget all about praying…

TRM, if you ever come to Tampa drive down Bayshore Boulevard – slowly mind you or the “distractions” will cause you to wreak your car. I use every excuse I can find to drive that road . It’s one of the reasons I moved back after I retired. I might be old but I am not dead, btw do you know Velvethammers number?

TRM, yes, western women can be distracting for sure. You often see guys’ eyes following scantily clad females and I agree we’re far too sexualized in the west. However, the fact that Muslim males take no responsibility at all for their own lack of control is also a complete copout. They’re not wild, uncontrollable animals. There’s no law that says a guy has to ogle. He can get married to the right woman and enjoy her. If its not girls out in public, it’s the internet.

Ok, if every woman in the US dressed like an Amish housewife, we would all be staring at the way her petticoat or whatever swayed, and still oogling them.
They are women. They have female pheromones. They are attractive to men for a reason. God and nature have made it that way so that the human race doesn’t die out from a lack of interest.
If you spent your whole life around chicks in burkas, you would pend 1/2 your day wondering what that girl looked like under there, and the other half of your day trying to find out.

I agree with Blackdog….Men are going to be distracted by women no matter what they wear…And, in all actuality…if they spend 1/2 day wondering what the girl looks like under that burka and the other half trying to find out…then we have the right idea here in the states…Put it all out there and then there is nothing left to the imagination….then men can get right back to work, instead of using so much of his energy for imagination

i actually agree with you on this one (dont bother gloating) i think the whole thing is nonesense. if men dont like the fact that women are dressing sexy then they should cover their eyes and look away.. and if it disturbs them so much then maybe they should wear full lenth burkas and things too .. so as not to distract the women from their prayers!

women in america dress slutty and very trashy. they obviously want the attention they get from guys and they do this to help them feel good inside. why do you see so many women being raped, date raped, murdered, and other horrible crimes being commited against them. now im not saying they ask for this but they give out the wrong impression. showing too much breasts and dresses that damn near show their goods is dusgusting and they look like prostitutes so they are going to be treated that way. there is no excuse for it. if they had a little more self respect they would not leave their homes looking like trash and if they had self esteem they would look in the mirror and see a beautiful women in anything they where. yes the man has the ability to control their eyes but why should they have to cover them (however they are supposed to lower their gaze) because a woman is dressed too provocative. and yes a man should be able to marry a women and she be the only one who is pleasing to his eyes but how can they do that when their are women flaunting all of their assets. and why would a man want a woman who is dressing like that anyway? there is a way to dress classy enough to make men want you mentally and emotionally as well as sexually, but women dont do that. these women might as well be naked. how many men do you see walking around in boxers and underwear letting their stuff hang out. how many men do you see being raped and murdered because they gave out the wrong impression? parents should teach their kids how to be ladies and not trashy at a young age and we would not be having this discussion.

to those who are against muslims it says it in the old testament of the bible that women are supposed to cover up so if yall truly are religious and practice your faith why dont you follow it. this is a disgrace to women. how can you expect for men to respect women if they cant respect themselves. this is happening everywhere in the world and women need to truly look at themselves as women, mothers, sisters, and human beings and see what is truly wrong with them and making them dress like this. its something. just figure it out.

Dress is not an indication of morals. I served in and visited quite a few muslim countries in Africa and in the middle east, the women could not keep their legs closed. I don’t know if it was because Americans are better in bed, better endowed or maybe it was just that we treated them better but getting sack time was ridiculously easy. Married and unmarried the ninja look didn’t slow them down. Good times, allahu ackbar.

If exposing yourself led to rape, then numerous rapes would be occurring every single day at topless beaches and in nudist colonies. Odd, but I don’t recall hearing of any recent rapes at such locales… In fact, I don’t recall any rapes at such a locale. I’m sure they have occurred in the past, but they certainly are rarer than an afro on a frog.
If covering yourself somehow protected you from rape, then there shouldn’t be any rapes occurring in strict Islamic countries. However, such is not the case. In fact, the estimates suggest that rapes occur more often in Islamic countries than westernized countries. Now, I know the crime statistics don’t show this, but, then, the statistics only show those crimes which have been reported.
Since women in Islamic societies are under the delusion that they themselves are responsible for getting raped, most rapes never get reported in such societies because of the shame that is associated with having been raped. Worse yet, even if the women do report the rape, they are subject the Sharia Courts which routinely treat the women as active, willing participants in the rape and usually ends with the woman getting jailed, or worse yet – stoned for adultery.
If dressing conservatively prevented sexual harassment, then how do explain this:

Be sure to note that the men were trying to remove the women’s headscarves. So, the women were covered, yet that did nothing to deter the harassment.
And, this is not just one isolated incident. In Egypt, 80% of Muslim women have been sexually harassed by other Muslim men. Nearly two-thirds of Muslim men admit to sexually harassing women…

muslimah is right in her perspective. i think she just worded her point wrong but i understand it as well as all of the others. i am looking at this as unbiased as i possibly can so im going to take all religion and ideology out of this equation and put psychology in it. every action is but by intention. whether they put those clothes on to feel good or for people to admire them, they are getting the reaction they want from people, which is to look there way, based on there action, which is putting certain clothes on. now what they think about when they put on these clothes and what other people think about when they see these women are two different things all in itself. in an essence they are both to blame: the men for looking and desiring and the women for dressing and bringing desire both for acting on their intention these women had to get their look from somewhere to make them think it ok to dress this way may it be t.v or someone they know, it is appealing to them. now their intention may not be to have physical harm come their way but they know that it is a risk especially in the society that we have made and live in today.
Now to bring in some religion i have no preference, but reading and understanding some of these blogs give me some type of perspective on others opinions. doctor, you are speaking of a country that majority of the women cover. as you said 80% have reported it. these are middle eastern countries where the major religion is islam. but what of the crimes reported in america, where the major religion is christianity? these crimes are committed by christians. rapes murders, serial killers, all of those who “have jesus in there lives”. but these stories do not mention what relegious preference they are. and why do you think that is?
the media is ran by jews (they own 90% of television channels and 100% of news channels) whom muslims say are cursed. they have no major problem with christians. so naturally they are going to play muslims down. (all this is beside the point, im just stating the facts that i have learned while i was in college). the fact is that is that harm may come to anyone whether they cover up their bodies or dress exposed. its not going to subside because i live in this country and they live in that country.
but it is very distracting to men when they are supposed to be focusing on certain things (and for these men it happens to be prayer and sleep) and they cannot because there is too much temptation out there. who are we to knock them for speaking the truth in their eyes.
last thing to say before i go out. all men and women need to control themselves. men need to control their desires and look away if it is too much for them to handle. and women need to control the way they desire attention if they cant find the attention within themselves.

Actually, muslimah is wrong in her perspective. The ideology we call islam has no better moral standards than any other and has lower standards of human rights than all others. Because of their misguided approach to the perception of personal honor muslims are experts at hiding their crimes but that has never stopped them from committing them. By modern standards muslims are primitive and have proven themselves incapable of self governance.
You are also wrong to attempt a comparison of religion with islam. It is an apple vs oranges comparison and has no basis in truth. Western religions like Christianity are internal to the believer, individuals decide when and where to better themselves. Everything is about the individuals struggle and it does not rely on oppressive political controls and punishments. Islam controls the follower’s total lifestyle and robs the believer of self-reliance. By combining public governance with an oppressive ideology islam enslaves and indoctrinates, in short it is perpetually stuck in the seventh century. Christianity despite setbacks continues to set the standards for personal improvement and charity. Islamic nations require Christian charities to provide basic services. Despite mega oil riches many muslim nations are slowly starving.
If you want a fair comparison, compare the benefits between western and islamic societies. The western society is built on but not controlled by Democratic values based on the Christian understanding of self reliance and choice. Islamic society is designed to control the masses. The differences are staggering. Western nations have thrived despite setbacks and poor leadership. Islamic societies are proven failures. A quick look at nations requiring help to feed themselves or to stop conflicts shows a who’s-who of islamic nations. They cannot all be the result of poor leadership. The only common denominator of failed islamic nations is the ideology they follow, muslims are a hodge podge of cultures and ethnic groupings linked by a single backwards ideology that has not shown success in 1350 years. In comparison the USA using established democratic principals based around Christians values has built the worlds only surviving super power, holding more wealth than all 57 islamic nations combined.
Continue to fool yourself if you wish, you are already enslaved and I doubt you will ever escape the chains of your cult,
