The Price of Jihad.

In today’s New York Times Magazine Pulitzer Prize winning author Andrea Elliott wrote an excellent article called “Where Boys Grow Up to Be Jihadis”. The impact of the global jihad on Muslim communities rarely gets much press but I expect that will change, as the numbers of communities effected is massive and will eventually feel the strain and demand help. Seemingly normal Muslims males smitten with sudden jihad awareness leave these Muslim enclaves and rarely return.

As their children die off Muslim communities will realize their futures are also gone. You can rebuild your population growth in times of peace but you can not replace an entire generation. Children who could have been doctors, policemen, and businessmen who could have contributed to Muslim society in countless ways have been causally tossed away without a plan to replace them or the services they would have provided. As Muslim populations age they will increasing realize their mistake. No plan is in place for the care of their elders who in traditional societies would have been cared for by their younger population. Only immigration to a welfare tolerant state will lesson the impact of Muslims failure to plan but I expect doors to slam shut when the scale of the problem is realized. Muslims made this bed themselves and will have to lie in it.

Andrea did a good job of showing the call to jihad is not done in a one size fits all method. Families are often surprised to learn their child has suddenly decided to go from normal child to crazed killer.

Additional research should be conducted to discover who inside of individual Muslim communities is singling out children, vetting them, and recruiting them without the knowledge of family members. Such men no doubt somehow forget to recruit their own children and I doubt have failed to participate in the global jihad themselves. Unless you count recruiting other peoples children to die as participation. How and who conducts the recruitment could help communities turn back the long line of suicidal children. Other steps are also needed prosecuting the recruiters would be a first step. Countering the evil ideology that inspires it and admitting Mohammed was no role model to a modern society are equally needed. Without those basic steps, the global jihad will continue to the next generation and the Muslim numbers will continue to diminish.

Muslims have always been quick to blame poverty, lack of opportunities and poor infrastructure for driving their young men toward a short one way and worthless lifestyle. That simplistic viewpoint falls short when you realize many cultures face similar conditions and do not react by sending out large numbers of young males to die in an attempt at global domination. The oppressive and demanding ideology of Islam was not designed for a modern world. It will get increasingly harder to raise enough children to continue the global jihad when non-Muslim societies scrutinize Muslim enclaves and force them to follow laws other than sharia.

Islamic ideology drives Muslims to do stupid things and dwindling away your resources and children away at an alarming rate is at the top of a long list of self defeating practices. In the end, a crackdown outside the ummah will cause Muslims to waste even more resources inside the ummah and their economies, infrastructure and future will collapse. Islam will fail like all the other oppressive cultures that proceeded it. In short, we win they lose.
