Joint Staff Surrenders to Islam

Ok, maybe surrender was a poor choice it is more like they caved into Islamic pressure but the outcome speaks volumes. Like it or not in today’s PC world being an expert is a threat. Idealistic win their hearts and minds dinosaurs rule the roast. Rarely does appeasement work, especially with Islam but that did not stop Mr Coughlin from getting canned.
I doubt any one compared the backgrounds and contributions to our nation of the two individuals at the heart of this. That would have required effort and fairness. Already the word is spreading and it looks like PC types railroaded Mr Coughlin. No surprise to anyone who served. Liberal officers run the military from the safety of the pentagon. The doers are deployed or drummed out. They are a major threat to those who served honorably and who could point out the arm chair generals with great plans but no ability.
This is a sad day for America and a disgrace those in uniform who serve to protect individual rights, especially the ones in the box. The military should be the last organization to stifle free speech but this travesty speaks for itself.
I bet if the contractors and civilians fought back Mr Coughlin might get his job back. The military can not silence them all or replace them.
I get told often that sites like this hinder the moderate Muslims and we should stop or worse-support them. My response has always been I have never met a moderate Muslim, only practicing and non-practicing ones. I can not support a non-practicing Muslims because he could snap on the reading and follow up of a single verse. If not him his child or grandchild. No Muslim can ever distance themselves from the radicals as long as they claim the title of Muslims. The guidelines are clear to anyone who takes the time to read the koran. This far from 9/11 there is simply no excuse for anyone in uniform to not understand the ideology behind the jihadi madness. To believe Muslims are going to stop it because we asked nicely or that they will support our efforts to rewrite the koran and change Islam into a modern religion is beyond misguided and ignorant, it is dangerously stupid.

Stephen Coughlin, the Pentagon specialist on Islamic law and Islamist extremism, has been fired from his position on the military’s Joint Staff. The action followed a report in this space last week revealing opposition to his work for the military by pro-Muslim officials within the office of Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England.
Mr. Coughlin was notified this week that his contract with the Joint Staff will end in March, effectively halting the career of one of the U.S. government’s most important figures in analyzing the nature of extremism and ultimately preparing to wage ideological war against it.
-He is welcome to blog here.
He had run afoul of a key aide to Mr. England, Hasham Islam, who confronted Mr. Coughlin during a meeting several weeks ago when Mr. Islam sought to have Mr. Coughlin soften his views on Islamist extremism.
Mr. Coughlin was accused directly by Mr. Islam of being a Christian zealot or extremist “with a pen,” according to defense officials. Mr. Coughlin appears to have become one of the first casualties in the war of ideas with Islamism.
The officials said Mr. Coughlin was let go because he had become “too hot” or controversial within the Pentagon.
Misguided Pentagon officials, including Mr. Islam and Mr. England, have initiated an aggressive “outreach” program to U.S. Muslim groups that critics say is lending credibility to what has been identified as a budding support network for Islamist extremists, including front groups for the radical Muslim Brotherhood.
Mr. Coughlin wrote a memorandum several months ago based on documents made public in a federal trial in Dallas that revealed a covert plan by the Muslim Brotherhood, an Egyptian-origin Islamist extremist group, to subvert the United States using front groups. Members of one of the identified front groups, the Islamic Society of North America, has been hosted by Mr. England at the Pentagon.
After word of the confrontation between Mr. Coughlin and Mr. Islam was made public, support for Mr. Coughlin skyrocketed among those in and out of government who feared the worst, namely that pro-Muslim officials in the Pentagon were after Mr. Coughlin’s scalp, and that his departure would be a major setback for the Pentagon’s struggling efforts to develop a war of ideas against extremism. Blogs lit up with hundreds of postings, some suggesting that Mr. England’s office is “penetrated” by the enemy in the war on terrorism.
-And now we have proved it
Kevin Wensing, a spokesman for Mr. England, said “no one in the deputy’s office had any input into this decision” by the Joint Staff to end Mr. Coughlin’s contract. A Joint Staff spokesman had no immediate comment.

Most of the Western Muslim establishment is comprised of Islamist groups claiming to be moderates. True moderate Muslims reject Islamic supremacy and Sharia; embrace religious equality and democracy.
What is a moderate Muslim? According to a dictionary, a moderate is a person who is opposed to radical or extreme views or measures, especially in politics or religion. Yet, majority of the public seem to be struggling with the definition of a moderate Muslim. Perhaps we can make this task easier by defining a radical Muslim and then defining the moderate as an opposite of the radical.
Muslims Against Sharia compiled a list of issues that differentiate moderate Muslims from Islamic radicals. Hopefully you can help us grow this list.

“To Our Great Detriment”
Ignoring What Extremists Say About Jihad
by Stephen C. Coughlin, Esq.
In comments made at the National Defense University on 1 December 2005, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Peter Pace explained to his audience the importance of “understand[ing] the nature of the enemy” if we hope to defeat jihadi extremists. Comparing our situation today, with that faced by an earlier generation who had to deal with the reality of the Nazi threat, General Pace suggested a simple solution to complying with his injunction: “read what our enemies have said. Remember Hitler…. He said in writing exactly what his plan was that we collectively ignored to our great detriment (emphasis added).” Just as we ignored Hitler’s articulation of his strategic doctrine in Mein Kampf, so too are we on the verge of suffering a similar fate today, if we fail to seriously assess the extremist threat based on jihadi strategic doctrine.
