CAIRO, Egypt — A clothes salesman in Tunisia sold his 25-year-old wife to a rich bachelor for 700 Tunisian dinars ($550), before later robbing the man’s house, national media said on Thursday.

The incident happened after the husband in question, Mohammed, got angry at his wife, Amal, after she had refused to obey him and accompany him on his business trip to a local province.

The enraged Mohammed then put about a rumor that he wanted his beautiful “orphan” sister to marry a rich man to “provide for the poor girl’s future.” He soon found a taker, and concluded a “marriage contract.”

Amal, who was taken to the buyer’s home soon after the deal, locked herself in a room and refused to let her new husband in.

On Mohammed’s return from his business trip, he and his “sister” met secretly and devised a plan to rob the unsuspecting husband.

They lured him out of his house, and then made off with money and other valuables before escaping.

Police are currently attempting to establish the couple’s whereabouts.

MAN WHO CLAIMS TO BE `REDEEMER OF ISLAM’ ARRESTED IN CAIRO

CAIRO, Egypt — Egyptian police have detained a man who claimed to be Imam Hujjat al-Mahdi, the prophesied redeemer of Islam who is to appear on Earth before the “Day of Judgement,” national media said on Thursday.

The man, a driver from a southern Egyptian province, declared himself “Imam Mahdi, chosen by God to relieve people from earthly evil” at a prayer service at a mosque in Egypt’s resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh.

He was arrested after the service and will be sent to a mental asylum for a psychiatric examination.

Many Muslims believe that Imam Mahdi will appear on Earth some years before Yaum al-Qiyamah, the Islamic apocalypse, to restore the absolute purity of the Islamic faith and save humanity.

ISRAEL FOREIGN MINISTER SAYS GAZA COULD BECOME TERRORIST STATE

MOSCOW — Israel’s foreign minister urged the world on Thursday to back her country’s efforts to curb rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip, saying that the Palestinian enclave could turn into a terrorist state.

Speaking at a Moscow diplomatic academy, Tzipi Livni said the international community’s failure to back Israel in its fight against Gaza-based insurgents could eventually result in the enclave — currently controlled by the hard-line Islamic group Hamas — transforming into a fully-fledged state ruled by extremists.

Gaza “could” become a terrorist state? What sort of label can be applied to a state that constantly fires rockets at civilian targets other than terrorist?

I guess that Mahdi guy in Egypt isn’t the real deal-the Iranian president would have had orgasmic seizures if he really was the Mahdi.
