Iraqi women demand, slavery, violence and subservience to oppressive men.
Most muslim’s male or female toss the victim card at every opportunity, this article is no different. This article is supposed to be about the plight of the modern woman in today’s Iraq. It turns into an apologist propaganda fest with no real point except women thrived under an oppressive dictator and the fight for freedom is too hard.
This could have been a great article. It could have voiced concerns, conducted comparisons of past - present and goals for the future. It could have been unbiased and fair. It could also have discussed what motivates the group oppressing Iraqi women and who is attempting to defend their rights. It is far easier to blame America than to take personal responsibility.
The author failed to explain why these unhappy women did not simply move to Saudi Arabia or any other oppressive sharia governed state. Like I said this could have been a great article but now ….
27 March, 2008, AFP
IRAQI women say they are now worse off than they were during the rule of dictator Saddam Hussein.
-Got to love the victim card played as a teaser.
They also say that their plight has deteriorated year by year since the US-led invasion in March 2003.
-Blame America, nice, take no responsibility for your own country. Do you think the U.N. would do as much?
Now, they are demanding not just equal rights but the very ‘right to live,’ said Ms Shameran Marugi, head of the Iraqi Women’s Committee, a non-governmental organisation.
-Ungrateful Bitc%, no mention of the American effort to give her those rights. Anyone seen the mass of muslims fighting to give women rights?
‘At home, a woman faces violence from her father, husband, brother and even from her son. It has become a kind of a new culture in the society,’ she said.
-Wait, I am confused, women are revered under Islam, protected, honored. Oh, I get it, that was all just more lies about muslim tolerance.
On the street, women are subjected to verbal abuse if they are not wearing a hijab, reported AFP.
In extreme cases, they face being abducted by unknown gunmen, who sexually abuse and then kill them, she said.
-What? Muslims rape muslims? Muslims murder muslims? Who knew and how is this America’s fault?
‘INDECENCY’ CLAIM
‘It has become normal for women to receive death threats for working for example as a hairdresser or a tailor, for not wearing a hijab or not dressing ‘decently’,’ said Ms Shameran.
Some Muslim hardliners believe it is sinful for women to appear beautiful in public and have put pressure on many in the beauty trade, including hair stylists and beauticians.
One such victim was MsIqbal Ali, who said that death threats had forced her to close her hairdressing salon in Baghdad’s central Karada neighbourhood.
She recalled: ‘Women hairdressers started getting threats. My work was affected and I closed my salon down.’
There are also reports of increased violence against women not in the beauty line, such as teachers, and in general.
Activists report many cases of so-called ‘honour killings’ in the southern city of Basra, in the northern Kurdish area and in the capital Baghdad, although there are no official nationwide figures available.
-Notice, no mention of who does the “honor killings” or of the dole paid out to oppressed msulims who claim they can not work due to safety concerns. Much of the expense of this effort is really welfare for muslim families who find it easier to live on the dole than work.
In Baghdad, according to a United Nations report, several women teachers have been shot dead by armed men, some of them in front of their students.
-Well lets see here, the American’s didn’t do that, the Jew’s didn’t do that. Who could have been responsible?
Ms Selma Jabu, Iraqi president Jalal Talabani’s consultant for women’s affairs, said: ‘Before the 2003 invasion, it was possible for a woman to lead a normal life as long as she followed state policy.
‘It was even possible for a woman to engage in political and economic activities through the official Union of Iraqi Women.’
-Typical, the US is not helping us propaganda. Women under sharia could vote but only on routine issues and their votes counted for half of a mans vote. 100% of her votes count now.
But now, she said: ‘There is specific violence against women, who are being abducted for sex and subjected to many other crimes.’
A report by the US-based Women For Women International released earlier this month partly blamed ‘insecurity, a lack of infrastructure and controversial leadership’.
-I blame the tenets of islam and the muslim tendency to follow them.
Ms Suad Mohammed, an employee in Adhamiyah municipality in north-western Baghdad, is one who has taken steps to ensure her own security.
‘ I don’t think it is safe for me to step out of my house freely. So whenever I go out, I carry a weapon with me to defend myself,’ she said.
-Notice no mention that she is free to travel alone without a male relative escort.
She said that last year, after collecting money from a bank on behalf of an old woman, she was in a taxi when the driver suddenly started driving to another neighbourhood and refused to stop.
She said: ‘I started screaming. And then I remembered I was carrying a weapon. The only thing I was thinking about was the woman’s salary.
‘I pulled my weapon from my purse and hit him on his neck and hands. He started bleeding, but still did not stop.
‘Finally, the taxi was stopped by a passing military convoy and the driver was taken away.’
-Hmmm, saved by soldiers but not a “thank you” in sight.
Since then, said Ms Suad, ‘every time I leave my neighbourhood I make sure I carry my weapon’.
-A weapon she could never own, carry or use under Saddam.
Tougher for women now
64 percent of women surveyed complained of increased violence against them, according to recent report by US-based Women for Women International.
Why? Respondents most commonly highlighted three points:
Less respect for women’s rights
Women considered possessions
Economy is worse
-Notice no mention that islam was the rational used to deny these rights to women
76 percent of women said that girls in their families were forbidden from attending school.
-Again, islam was used as the rational to stop thier education. Western cultures encourage education.

“Girls Get Their Periods at the Age of 8-10″
Huuuuuhhh? What? That’s a little young for a period, don’t you think?
Maybe if they beat the girls until they bleed… Then I’d believe it…
That clip is just wild! Did you notice how he says that Muhammad married Aisha when she was 8 yrs. old? That’s obviously a ploy to try and boost her age a little, as most sources say she was 6, and one other that I can think of said she was 7…
And, who knew that most of the girls in the west lost their virginity between 9 - 12 yrs old? Which camel’s ass did he pull that statistic from?
What a Looooozer!
