Recidivism in Islamic Terrorists Greater than Previously Reported
Yeah, I’m pretty sure that bit of news comes as no great shock to our regular readers.
As long as the actions of a long dead, murdering false prophet and his un-holy Qur’an continue to inspire Muslims throughout the world, substantial recidivism amongst released detainees will be par for course.
And, the little Leftard, Obama, wants to close Guantanamo and let these guys go free… What a moron…
I suggest an aggressive Christian proselytization program at Gitmo to reduce recidivism… Oh, and change Guantanamo’s nickname from “Gitmo” to “Git-Christ.”
Obama should have no problem with that. After all, he’s suppose to be a Christian, right? Right???
US: 61 ex-Guantanamo inmates return to terrorism

WASHINGTON, Jan 13 (Reuters) – The Pentagon said on Tuesday that 61 former detainees from its military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, appear to have returned to terrorism since their release from custody.
Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell said 18 former detainees are confirmed and 43 suspected of “returning to the fight.”
He said the figures, updated at the end of December, showed a higher rate of recidivism than seen in a previous report showing 37 former detainees as active militants.
He provided no details about the detainees or their countries of origin.
“The overall known terrorist re-engagement rate has increased to 11 percent” from about 7 percent, Morrell said.
The numbers were generated by the Pentagon’s Defense Intelligence Agency based on fingerprints, photographs and intelligence reports, he said.
President-elect Barack Obama, who takes office on Tuesday, is expected to issue an executive order to close the Guantanamo Bay prison, possibly within his first week in office.
About 255 men are still held at the U.S.-run naval base in Cuba, a symbol of aggressive interrogation methods that exposed the United States to allegations of torture.
Washington has cleared 50 of the detainees for release but cannot return them to their home countries because of the risk they would be tortured or persecuted there.
Around 500 others have been freed or transferred to other governments since 2002.
Pentagon officials say scores of detainees still in custody should never be released because of the potential danger they pose to U.S. interests. (Reporting by Andrew Gray and David Morgan)

We are such milquetoasts. Because they may be ‘tortured’, we can’t send them back. Now who made that stupid rule? The liberals at the UN and the international courts and of course, we forfeit our sovereignty to the superior powers! The liberals love it. It’s pretty obvious they want to Balkanize the US, Europe, Australia. It’s amusing watching them handwring over the fate of those who would kill them with glee.

recidivism
noun
habitual relapse into crime
(I thought I would save my Russian friends the trouble of a translation, followed by a look up in a dictionary)

Incredible that no one seems to see what is happening here. Many previous Gitmo inmates have done the same.

Ronin,
Hey, don’t feel bad. Even I had to look up “milquetoasts!”
Cheers

When did enemy combatants become political refugees entitled to asylum in the US? can’t send them home for fear of torture or persecution (snort in disgust, shaking head)….
Wait, I have the solution! Terrorists retire in Hyde Park, IL don’t they? Maybe that would be a good place to set them free. They can have a house next to Bill Ayers, down the road from the Obamas. They’d just be “guy[s] who live in my neighborhood” after all.

When a person commits a crime and serves time, he/she usually comes to the realization that what he/she did was morally wrong. This leads to repentance and turning over a new leaf. Islamic terrorists are following the sacred commands of the Quran, and so getting caught is not a matter of justice or moral turpitude, but rather a temporary setback in their dedication to jihad.
When the U.S. defeated Japan, they shut down the Shinto religion which underscored the moral sanctity of dying for the Emperor. Japan was quickly pacified.
The governments in the West aren’t even close to realising that the evil of terrorism is sanctified by the Quran and the imams who extol the virtues and rewards of martyrdom. When they do (and I hope it isn’t long from now), they will be setting up “re-education facilities” instead of detention camps where Islamists will be deprogrammed from the Islamist cult. The stupidest thing our government did at Gitmo was to give the inmates the Quran and other religious literature, in the name of freedom of religion. Didn’t we learn anything from our Japan experience?

I don’t recognize my country anymore. When editorials in the WaPo decry the horrible nature of torture at Gitmo, with no mention of the torture of the 9/11 victims who had to struggle with jumping 50+ stories to their deaths, I get angry! “Aggressive interrogation” is interpreted as torture, huh? Then just release them to me. I promise to rehabilitate the wrongdoers to be constructive, midwestern citizens. (Do I have to disclose my methods?)
