2 killed by victims in separate Atlanta robberies

ATLANTA (AP) – Police say two crime victims in Metro Atlanta killed their attackers in separate incidents.

Cobb County police say 38-year-old Richard Ellis of Marietta was shot in his own garage Saturday night. Ellis grabbed the wound-be robber’s gun and shot and killed the man, identified as 33-year-old John Harrison of Palmetto.

Ellis was wounded in the leg. Harrison was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital but died of his injuries.

In Atlanta, police say a woman fatally stabbed a robbery suspect who broke into her apartment while her 11-year-old child slept.

The suspect was identified as 34-year-old Jerome Davis of Atlanta. The woman’s name was not released.

No charges have been filed in either case.

    Why is it that these articles that showcase a dead criminal, in the act, getting killed always seem to have a “no charges were filed” or “police are looking into whether to file any charges”?

    I know it’s because of places like NYC and Mass that if you defend yourself you can get thrown in jail. But is the fact that the question is always asked (or answered unbidden) indicative of a basic failure to understand where our protection truly lies? Yes, that was rhetorical.

    The Dems and gun-control wonks would have us believe that it is the job of the government to protect us. No, the Constitution says to “provide for the common defense.” Who do they think the “common defense” is made up of? Why, it’s us.

    Yes, we citizens who have been “endowed by our Creator…” We do not live based on the sufferance of our government.

    Hey, Obama, Rahm, and all you in leadership, I know that you don’t believe in this and the other governing documents, but there are plenty of us that do.
