India: Yet Another Islamic Teacher Arrested for Sodomizing a 9-Year-Old Boy

I just don’t understand it…  I mean, it’s not like these Islamic teachers and scholars are celibate like the Catholic priests.  (Please, no hate letters from Catholics, I’m playing “Muzzie logic” here – blame anything and everyone but the individual committing the crime). Really, what’s their excuse?  Could it be that masturbation is haram?  Yeah, that’s the ticket!

Arabic teacher arrested for sodomising minor

MUMBAI: A 22-year-old Arabic teacher was arrested by the Malwani police on Thursday night for allegedly sodomising a 9-year-old boy. Majahid Tahir Ansari, the accused, lived in the same neighbourhood as the victim. Ansari went into hiding after the incident, but locals hunted him down and handed him over to the police.

According to the police, Ansari is a Hafiz (a person who memorises the Quran completely). A native of Bijnaur in Uttar Pradesh, he moved to Mumbai one-and-a-half years ago. He had since been living in a rented apartment at New Collector’s Compound in Malwani and is unmarried.

“Ansari taught Arabic to children at their houses. He also taught them to read the Quran. The victim, a student of Std III, was one of Ansari’s pupils,” a police officer said.

Around 2.30 pm on Thursday, Ansari visited the boy’s house. “On the pretext of taking a lecture, he took the boy to a local madrassa at plot 59 of the New Collector’s Compound. There, he locked the boy in a room and allegedly sodomised him. The boy later told his parents that Ansari had also covered his mouth to prevent anyone from hearing his cries for help,” senior inspector Jaywant Hargude said. The victim’s father lodged a complaint at the Malwani police station.

“When residents learnt about the incident, they were furious. By then, Ansari had gone into hiding. The men hunted him down and hauled him to the police station around midnight,” Hargude added. The police is now probing if Ansari has a past criminal record.

Both Ansari and the boy underwent a medical examination at the Nagpada police hospital on Friday. Ansari was produced before a local court in the evening and remanded to police custody.
