Wounded Homeowner Kills Burglar in Gunfight
Yet another reason to own an “assault” rifle:
Sledgehammer-wielding burglar shot to death

WENATCHEE — Police say a man used a sledgehammer to break into a house, shot the owner and was then shot to death in Wenatchee early this morning.
Police Chief Tom Robbins says neighbors reported shouting and gunshots at 1:28 a.m. Officers found 43-year-old Scott Bates had shot the homeowner with a .45-caliber pistol, after which the 25-year-old homeowner fatally shot Bates in the chest with an SKS rifle.
[Yup, that's one of them thar "assault" rifles Congress wants to take away from y'all.]
Robbins says the homeowner was taken to Central Washington Hospital for treatment of a flesh wound in the upper leg. After that, the police chief says, the man will be booked into jail for investigation of misdemeanor drug offenses.
Robbins says the episode is believed to be drug-related, although the motive for the break-in remains under investigation.
UPDATE: From WenatcheeWorld.com:
1) The homeowner had a pit-bull. But, the pit-bull ran away!
2) The local community had previously requested that the police step up patrols in that area. Didn’t help any, now did it?

Hey, Doc. I finally settled on this one…
http://www.glock.com/english/glock22.htm
…picked it up this AM, along with a few boxes of ammo. It’ll be difficult to conceal, but I don’t have that permit yet, anyway. But it will fit nicely in my glove box.
Regards.

Nice!
Check into the “Open Carry” laws in your area. You might be able to openly sport it around town until you get your concealed carry permit.
Cheers

As I was making my purchase, I noticed the couple behind me who were asking the other clerk some questions about her filling in the request for a background check. They must have been in their 50′s. And before that an older woman was asking about which guns might suit her. It’s getting really popular, and I can’t help think with posts like this one and so many others I’ve been hearing lately, that it’s most likely the security issue that concerns middle aged or elderly first time gun buyers.
I doubt I can wear a side arm in Tampa, but I did get a nice holster for it (no, not leather, I couldn’t afford that, but it is a “bulldog” like this…

The one I got said it fits most std 1911 type pistols, which mine is very similar to.

Hehehehe, glad to hear you were thinking of me when you picked out your holster.
BTW – MeMaw and MePaw are in their 60′s and just purchased a couple of handguns a couple weeks ago.
Cheers

I shot a 22 pistol for the first time. 2 bullseyes at 25 feet. Not bad for an old lady with a walker…
