Tea Parties Rock the Nation
My favorite sign I saw at the St. Louis Tea Party: Capitalism Works! Ask any Illegal Immigrant!!!
And, my second favorite: It’s not a right and left issue, just a right and wrong issue…
Here are some numbers that are rolling in from Freedom Press. While certainly not a complete list of all the Tea Parties yesterday (too many to accurately count), these numbers are tracking pretty close to what I have been reading on the various blogs this morning. Also, Free Republic has a couple threads tracking the numbers HERE. If you have any numbers from your neck of the woods, add them in the comments section.
And, oh yeah, we had 3, count ‘em, 3 counter protesters—complete with lip rings and crappy card-board box signs—show up in St. Louis. Note to the counter protesters: Sheesh! At least show some pride and use all them Obama bucks to shell out a dollar or two for some foam core poster boards!!! Just lame… Very lame…

This is a repost, I put it under the wrong article:
——————
Tuscaloosa, AL – about 1500, estimated by the organizers
On the other hand, the local newspaper cited “hundreds” a nicely vague number. The article, speaking of other rallies in the state, goes on to say, “In Alabama, Montgomery had more than 1,000 people and Mobile had several hundred.” Somewhat different than your numbers for AL.
To the credit of the Tuscaloosa News, they do just report, there’s not much editorializing in the article.
——————–
There are two comments on the T. News site regarding the article. Both are obviously, highly intelligent, eloquent liberals (/sarcasm off). One dishes on the anti-abortion crowd, while the other comments about the attendees physique, then says the overspending started 8 years ago. That might have been when he learned to read, but he has a bit of history to brush up on.

This thing is bigger than they want us to know. I happen to know of at least five tea party’s out here that drew 500 or more that are not listed anywhere I have seen so far. There are probably hundreds that attracted only 50 or a hundred as well. I don’t think it is unreasonable to think that five times the amount they are propagandizing is about right although that might be low too. They don’t want us to know just how big it really is, but they know. Weeks ago they were at the first stage, ignore. Yesterday they were at the ridicule stage, today they are at the fight stage, the final stage, we win. Can’t wait till July 4th! Be there or be square.

In Valparaiso, Indiana, where I live, there were about 300 or more.
16 April, 2009 at 5:15 pm
I watched quite a bit on FoxNews. The numbers were very impressive – more than I expected, and thankfully no violence or interruptions from, say, ACORN.
(Maybe the left thought it wouldn’t really work and underestimated it?)
It has been hardly reported here, although in The Australian, (article from Agence France-Presse), it is being promoted as an anti-Obama rally. I think the Fox anchors went out of their way to say this wasn’t the case at all.
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,25341915-12377,00.html
It’s also worth considering that the supporters,in reality, would probably be much higher.
Isn’t it usually the case that 20% do 80% of the work?
(I thing this is some mathematical/statistical theory and I have forgotten what it is called).

The 80-20 Principle, or, as it is sometimes also called, The Pareto Principle.

The numbers seem low to the liberals because they fail to realize the protesters have jobs and many could not just turn off the TV and attend. Consider how many people could not attend but would have. Add the family members of those that did (many will support them). Toss in the Children that will be voting age just in time for the 2010 house cleaning and a bunch of sitting incompetent incumbents will soon be hunting work in a depressed economy they helped to create.
16 April, 2009 at 7:46 pm
Well, if you figure that those are the totals for 260 out of about 750 Tea Parties, I’m thinkin’ we hit a million…
Cheers

I attended in downtown Cleveland. The police and sheriff’s deputies told us they estimated 5000, then the local news at 6:00 said there were 1500. Rriiiggghhtt…
(Two women behind me told me they voted for Obama, and were sorry by February!)

Sincerely,
