While the “Dirty Harry” in me loves to hear these stories, it is CRAZY and ILLEGAL to shoot at a bad guy who’s FLEEING!

Yes, we can follow them to get a license plate or vehicle info or their direction of travel, but I know of NO jurisdiction where it’s legal to shoot a fleeing suspect who is not posing an active threat.

I believe that propagating such stories HURTS the cause of self-defense rights, since cynical anti-rights prosecutors will claim that the person acted like a vigilante.

No matter how we FEEL, we have to exercise self-control in our self-defense actions – even in the heat of the moment.

Just as black-on-black crime hurts the cause of racial civil rights in the eyes of bigoted persons, reckless or extra-legal action hurts the cause of self-defense civil rights in the eyes of anti-gun bigots.
