Woman shoots intruder in her home

ELIZABETHTOWN, IL (KFVS) – Police tell Heartland News a man who broke into a home Tuesday night in rural Elizabethtown got quite a surprise.
He ended up in the hospital after police say he broke into someone’s home. Hardin County Sheriff Tom Seiner says the woman inside was armed and shot him.

“Her husband was away on business when this incident took place and she was home alone,” Seiner said.
The homeowner, whose name is not being released at this time, was in the bedroom when the man broke in.

Seiner says the woman pulled the trigger of a medium caliber hand gun, shooting the intruder in the back.
The man was taken to Hardin County Hospital and later transferred to an Evansville hospital where he was listed in stable condition Wednesday.
