Thanks all and a quick News Travels update:

I live at the mouth of a cul-de-sac in a very quiet and usually very dark neighborhood.

Just took the trash out (midnight here) and every porch and driveway light in the neighborhood is on ;>)

Glad it came out alright and everyone is safe. Good call carrying all the time. Things are bad and headed for worse as the economy gets worse.

A good dog is the best security alarm you can have. If “Infidel” is the only dog in the family, you might consider getting another family dog for when your daughter takes him back.

I am glad your family is OK. It is to bad you can not have your front door open for cool air on planet earth. Perhaps, in Heaven.

I bet you don’t really need the light on to get the shotgun.

+1 to MR for standing up for what’s right, especially in his own home.

This is one of the big battles at GdB’s homestead with my wife – she insists that if the weapon is in the house, it’s locked up.

MR’s experience here is my nightmare – except in my case the pistol’s locked in the box and the shotgun’s locked in the gun safe.
