Et Tu Pope?
Predictably, all the usual figureheads came out in opposition to the Swiss ban of the highly phallic minarets; however, I was extremely surprised to hear the Vatican chime in on the subject. After all, a vow of silence would have been preferable.
Now, it should be pointed out that I understand what they are afraid of; the censorship of Catholicism. But, they are wrong in issuing such a statement because it will only be perceived as tacit support for the false religion of Islam.
Perhaps the Pope and his phallic hatted minions should actually read the Bible before issuing such a ridiculous statement. I suggest they start with God’s ban on the Tower of Babel, continue onward to Moses defeating the false gods of Egypt, then jump to Elijah and the false prophets of Baal, followed by a healthy dose of Jesus going after the Scribes, Pharisees, and Money Lenders:
Vatican: Swiss ban undermines religious freedom
Mon, 30 Nov 2009 – Press TV Iran
The Vatican has slammed Switzerland’s referendum vote to ban the building of minarets next to Muslim mosques, saying it is a ‘blow to freedom of religion’.
The Vatican on Monday supported a statement by the conference of Swiss Bishops that censured the vote for heightening “the problems of cohabitation between religions and cultures.”
The ban is an insult to the feelings of the Muslim community, not only in Switzerland but across the world, Egypt’s Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa said following the vote.
Muslim figureheads from Indonesia and Egypt, as well as Switzerland, denounced the far-right initiative that claims the minarets, distinct architectural features of Islamic mosques, are a sign of the radical “Islamisation” of the country.
French Foreign Bernard Kouchner, whose country has focused on pressuring Muslim women over wearing burqas, expressed shock over the ban, saying it amounted to “oppressing a religion.”
More than 57.5% of voters and 22 out of 26 cantons – or provinces – voted in favor of the ban, to the embarrassment of the government, which had officially opposed the referendum over concern that it would harm the country’s image.
However, Bern said it would have to honor the majority decision.
The country’s largest party, the nationalist Swiss People’s Party, (SVP), and the Democratic Party joined forces to convince people that the minaret posed a threat to Switzerland’s future.
In their campaign posters, allowed under freedom of speech despite its Islamophobic depiction, the Swiss flag is seen covered with missile-like minarets next to a menacing figure of a woman cloaked in a black burqa.

How does a ban on building minarets constitute “oppressing” a religion? The minarets are not required in the islamic faith. They have taken these as a symbol of their religion.
I know there are folks who feel that a Christian church building should have a steeple, but what difference does it make to the faith whether the building has one or used to be a grocery store? The building has nothing to do with faith. Of course, that’s assuming that faith is at issue, which of course has nothing to do with this case.
Cheers to the Swiss! They have stood up to say that they are only willing to go so far to accept islam in their midst. And of course, the requisite car burnings, shop window breaking, and riots have ensued.

Islam is not a religion as we understand the word. It is a moon god worshiping death cult wraped in a political system.
Screw Islam!

Obviously the Catholic church has forgotten its bloody history of warfare with muslims…
And in islam Christian churches are not to be taller thna the mosque. So in other words the minerettes would have to be a bigger part of the mosque than the churches around it. Not to mention the noise of speakers calling muslims to pray out blaring Church bells…
The Swiss were right to block the minerettes…

I cannot say this often enough. All major political parties in Switzerland were against this referendum.
So were all churches. So was the entire business community. The muslims threatened their usual murder and mayhem. And the people told all of them to f*** off. I suspect it has a lot to do with the Gadhaffi scandal last year. Ghadaffi’s son was giving his maid their usual morning beating when the police interfered and arrested him. Lots of loud noise from Libya, they pulled their investments from Switzerland, they arrested the first Swiss businessmen they could get hold off in Libya on some trumped up charges. The president of Switzerland flew there to apologize on the understanding the men would be released to fly back with him. He came back alone and the men are still held there. This more than anything else won the referendum. The Muslims showed Switzerland it is the muzzie way or no way, the Swiss said “Oh ya!
