Secret Service: Threats Against Obama No Higher than Normal

The director of the Secret Service today disputed widely-reported claims that President Obama is receiving more death threats than previous presidents.
At a congressional hearing into the White House security breach that took place last week, when Tareq and Michaele Salahi “crashed” the White House state dinner, Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan said the current threat level against the president is normal.
“The threats right now … is the same level as it has been for the previous two presidents at this point in their administrations,” Sullivan said.

[ Uhm, gee... Kind of blows a huge, gaping hole in that "racism" theory, don't you think? After all, if racism is the root cause, then the threat level should not be declining, but actually increasing. However, Mark Sullivan's statement and a dash of logic does nothing to slow down Representative Eleanor Norton's ludicrous attempt to clang the gong of racism: ]
“It is well known, it’s been in the press over and over again, that this president has received far more death threats than any president in the history of the United States,” Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton, the congressional delegate for the District of Columbia, said at today’s hearing.

BTW - Did you notice that she accredited her "facts" to the Lame Stream Media while completely ignoring the one person who is the most reliable and credible source of this information: The Director of the Secret Service, Mark Sullivan---who, to recap, had just told her that Obama wasn't getting any more death threats than Clinton or Bush did.]
Norton asked Sullivan if extra precautions were taken at last month’s state dinner, given the high threat level against the president. Sullivan said he could not answer that question, but that he could address the issue of the threat level.
“I’ve heard a number out there that the threat is up by 400 percent,” Sullivan said. “It isn’t at 400 percent. I’m not sure where that number came from.“

Uhm, that would be from Newsmax’s Washington correspondent, Ronald Kessler, who perpetuated the “400 percent” myth in his recent book, “In the President’s Secret Service.” So, you’ll have to ask him how he arrived at that arbitrary number.

No, I think that it is wise. This Secret Service guy is likely under oath. He understands what that means, especially for someone of his lowly bureaucratic stature, i.e. he’s likely to end up under the bus either way. So what would motivate him to lie when the truth is easier to verify?
