Obama Delays Trip to Asia to Work on Health Care Deform
Uhm… Okay… You know, I use to work for a guy who micromanaged like there was no tomorrow. In fact, the guy wasn’t even our immediate supervisor, he was the department manager. He was the worst “boss” I ever had—and I’ve had some doozies.
Everyday, our supervisor would assign us our tasks. And, like clockwork, the micromanager would appear about an hour or two later and pull us off of what we were doing and assign us all new tasks. Then, our supervisor would come around and get upset that we weren’t doing what he had told us to do originally. Then, my supervisor and the micromanager would get into a heated argument at some point during the day and, depending on who won the argument, we would be re-assigned tasks, yet again.
This went on like this for about six months. The only thing that kept our supervisor from getting fired was the vice president of the company, as the VP and my supervisor were on amiable terms.
However, the micromanager was a patient, vindictive fellow and began documenting these daily skirmishes. Then, the micromanager waited for the vice president to leave the country on a business trip. Once the micromanager was sure that the VP was in the air and “incommunicato,” he hunted down our supervisor and began nitpicking everything possible. Our supervisor endured this constant abuse for a couple of hours, biting his tongue, as it were. However, the micromanager persisted in his attack.
Finally, our supervisor, having exhausted his ability to hold his tongue under constant verbal abuse, let loose with what some in Congress might call “salty” language during which he told the micromanager to do something humanly impossible with some extremely large object. The micromanager’s mission complete, he grabbed a couple of witnesses and headed immediately to Human Resources. They fired my supervisor that same day.
The next day, I quit.
Oh, they (as in the vice president of the company) begged me to come back to work, they even offered me my supervisor’s old job. But, what kind of incentive was that? The micromanager was still there…
Of course, the company finally wised up and fired the micromanager, but that was a couple of years later and I had moved on to other things by then.
I guess my point in telling this little anecdote is to draw a parallel between it and Obama. NO ONE likes micromanager and they only hinder any actual work.
Eventually, micromanagers get fired. But, not before screwing everything up!

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama is delaying his trip to Asia next week to focus on his big push on health care.
A senior administration official tells The Associated Press that Obama now plans to leave Washington on March 21 and return March 26. The original dates were March 18 to March 24. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the White House hasn’t announced the delay.
[...]
Word about the delay comes as the White House presses Congress to pass a health care overhaul. Obama’s top priority has sputtered and the administration is trying to save it after a year of contentious debate.

Dr. B – “Eventually, micromanagers get fired. But, not before screwing everything up!” Not if they’re the sons of the CEO. Your scenario plays out here every few days. woohoo.
