Instead, I’m going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great and, hopefully, that will be a testimony to my patriotism.”

You’re right, I don’t think the flag means anything by itself. The flag is a symbol of America. When you salute the flag, you’re not really paying homage to a piece of cloth, you’re paying homage to the law, tolerance, strength, and every other aspect of the country that you admire.
Now personally, when I see a flag on someone’s lawn, or on someone’s lapel, it doesn’t tell me anything about the person. I don’t know what the flag means to them, I only know what it means to myself. To display a flag is easy, the action says nothing about you to other people.
However, I feel that some individuals, most notably politicians, who are trying to garner popular favor, tend to wear American flag pins for, in my mind, the same purpose that someone might wear a “Che Shirt”. The narrative that they are trying to give you is “because I am wearing this flag, which represents all the greatness of this nation, I must also represent that greatness”. That’s not the case. If Osama Bin Laden wore a flag pin, it would not mean he loved America. If Hitler had worn a flag pin, it would not have meant he loved America. Why, then, when a politician wears a flag pin or displays a flag, he is patriotic, and when he fails to do so, he is unpatriotic?
Because let’s be honest with each other. It wouldn’t matter to you if Obama wrapped himself in red white and blue and sang the national anthem everywhere he went. You would still dislike his policies, you would still be against his position, and you would still think he was anti-American because of them.

This press conference was held in the east room of the white house (a quick Google search for images “Bush east room White house gave several results of G.W. Bush oddly missing flags does that make him an unpatriotic idiot I think not,) and does not and has not always contained flags as it is often used for large gatherings and not strictly used for the press.

We were once homeless ourselves and have used food pantries in the past to get through the rough times.

Furthermore, when we lived in Oakland, CA, we were active in neighborhood clean-up programs that often entailed cleaning up other neighborhoods in surrounding areas. I also worked at a church in Oakland and helped distribute bags of food to the poor and homeless about once a month for several years.
I also did volunteer work for the Mary Ann Wright Foundation in Oakland, CA. Sadly, Mother Wright passed away last year. May God grant her favor.
As for finding a “better health plan reform,” we absolutely have a better health care plan worked out. It’s called the “free market,” asshat. Anyway, Obama’s apparent tergiversating on the flag-pin issue was not flip-flopping; it’s called “political expediency.” Therefore, in Obama’s mind, this is a political issue, else he would not have felt compelled to go against his own convictions just to get elected.

Well, since it is the American flag, that tells me that YOU also feel that the American flag is “just a cheap prop.”

So, I really don’t know why you have such a hard time digesting the fact that the reason Obama didn’t have a flag present at his WH briefing in the East room is because he, LIKE YOU, views the flag as just a prop—something of no value unless needed to score points on the political stage.
You see, there are those of us who actually take extreme care of our American flags and proudly display them at EVERY opportunity we get. We served in the military, and we have family and friends who gave their lives for that flag and what she represents.
Tell me, did anyone in Obama’s immediate family give their life to defend America? How about yours?
Did you proudly display your American flag this Memorial Day weekend, Jeremiah? I know I did.
But, for someone like Obama, who wants to “fundamentally” change America, I can see how he isn’t proud of the American flag.
After all, if you were truly proud of your wife and loved her with all your heart, you would NEVER say to her, “Honey, I love you and I’m proud of you, but I’m going to fundamentally change you…”
If Obama were truly proud of Our American Flag and all that she truly represents, he would be more than thrilled to take any opportunity to show her off to others.
But, nope. He didn’t think about her because he doesn’t respect her and all that she represents.
Obama’s failure to proudly display her during his press conference—right before the Memorial Day weekend, I might add—is just further proof that he is an unpatriotic, commie ass.
Obama’s a fraud. Get over it and quit trying to carry his Kool-Aid for him, Comrade Sycophant.

You’re right, I don’t think the flag means anything by itself. The flag is a symbol of America. When you salute the flag, you’re not really paying homage to a piece of cloth, you’re paying homage to the law, tolerance, strength, and every other aspect of the country that you admire.
Now personally, when I see a flag on someone’s lawn, or on someone’s lapel, it doesn’t tell me anything about the person. I don’t know what the flag means to them, I only know what it means to myself. To display a flag is easy, the action says nothing about you to other people.
However, I feel that some individuals, most notably politicians, who are trying to garner popular favor, tend to wear American flag pins for, in my mind, the same purpose that someone might wear a “Che Shirt”. The narrative that they are trying to give you is “because I am wearing this flag, which represents all the greatness of this nation, I must also represent that greatness”. That’s not the case. If Osama Bin Laden wore a flag pin, it would not mean he loved America. If Hitler had worn a flag pin, it would not have meant he loved America. Why, then, when a politician wears a flag pin or displays a flag, he is patriotic, and when he fails to do so, he is unpatriotic?
Because let’s be honest with each other. It wouldn’t matter to you if Obama wrapped himself in red white and blue and sang the national anthem everywhere he went. You would still dislike his policies, you would still be against his position, and you would still think he was anti-American because of them.
So I’ll reiterate, when you’re judging someone based not by what they say or do, but by what they wear, then you’re not really judging them.

I’m late getting to the page, but I have to tell you your parting shot to Comrade Jeramiah was right on target. I think Obamanation and Jeramiah would both be well served, as you put it, to SERVE. There are few things in this great nation of ours that make you respect that little piece of “political prop” more than spending a significant portion of your life defending it in places were it is held in even higher contempt than in the current administration. It doesn’t even have to be in a combat zone, after all, “defending the constitution against all enemies, foreign, and domestic” does not require bulets in the air. After having done exactly that for over 20 years in uniform with and without bullets flying, and a lifetime out of one, there are no other “props” I would so freely lay down my life for. The problem seems to me simply that most of those who, like Obamanation hold our Country and our Flag in such low regard, are the same people who find nothing they would die to defend.

The flag is not a “prop” it is a “symbol”. A symbol of a free nation, a symbol of lives lost so that this nation could be free and remain free. That flag has led every soldier into battle and has been here to welcome home the ones who have the fortune to return.
That room has always had a flag present. Obama had to order the flag removed. He doesn’t want to offend Muslims or commies but the people of the US be damned. Every day he creates more hatred among those he swore to protect and make a better world for.
As a Vietnam Vet I just want to say “Obama is the worst possible choice to represent our country on any international stage. Any way you libs spin this, he still sucks.

The image of the flag is a symbol, the flag pin in politics is a political prop, like a politician kissing a baby. The action doesn’t actually indicate that the politician loves babies, and the pin doesn’t actually indicate a level of patriotism.

Look this up on Snopes and you will find a picture of Reagan missing flags, and in a room intended for press conferences.
This press conference was held in the east room of the white house (a quick Google search for images “Bush east room White house gave several results of G.W. Bush oddly missing flags does that make him an unpatriotic idiot I think not,) and does not and has not always contained flags as it is often used for large gatherings and not strictly used for the press.
Before anyone starts slamming me as some sort of socialist or communist I am ex-military and my wife is now stationed in Korea for a year separating her from myself and our children.
Please don’t assume something to be true simply because you don’t like the beliefs of the person it is about look for yourself it takes very little effort

First of all, Snopes is a Libtard website, so of course they are going to down-play it.
Secondly, Snopes is refuting a claim that has cropped up in emails that no other U.S. president has omitted the U.S. flag during a press conference.
I have never said that nor do I claim it.
Besides, my post most likely pre-dates those emails and Snopes (The Snopes article has a date of 8 Jun 2010)…
My point is that Obama continues to show his lack of pride in the flag (and our country) via his actions and words. This is just one of many such instances.
What? Am I to place blinders on whenever these suspicious events occur and not draw any attention to them? You do know what George Washington had to say about that, right?

Tell me, what was so unusual about a pre-planned press conference in the East Room of the White House that Obama, or one of his Commie advisers, couldn’t have had enough pride in the American flag to take 30 seconds to hunt down a flag and proudly display it?
Not a damn thing. Obama “missed or skipped” an “opportunity to set up” a U.S. flag at his press conference because he just doesn’t care. It’s really quite simple; Obama is either stupid or an unpatriotic ass.
Considering that he wants to “fundamentally change” America, Obama is definitely “an unpatriotic ass.”
The lack of attention he gives the American flag is just symptomatic of the disease; Communism.

Mrs. Bulldog and I collect food and canned goods and donate them to food pantries to help the homeless and poor.
We were once homeless ourselves and have used food pantries in the past to get through the rough times.
We also donate any of our unused clothes and toys to Charity Clothing in St. Louis.
Furthermore, when we lived in Oakland, CA, we were active in neighborhood clean-up programs that often entailed cleaning up other neighborhoods in surrounding areas. I also worked at a church in Oakland and helped distribute bags of food to the poor and homeless about once a month for several years.
I also did volunteer work for the Mary Ann Wright Foundation in Oakland, CA. Sadly, Mother Wright passed away last year. May God grant her favor.
As for finding a “better health plan reform,” we absolutely have a better health care plan worked out. It’s called the “free market,” asshat. What makes you think the government, who can’t even balance a freakin’ checkbook, can somehow come up with a better health care system than what we already have? You asinine moron.

Missing Flag(s), Your just noticing the change. Let’s go to back to the days of his campaigning. Most presidential candiates airplanes have/had American Flag on the aircraft tail. Obama’s had symbol he said reflected his idea’s of what America was to be. He might be my Commander in Chief but he is far from being my President.
