Facebook Photo Of Plymouth Woman At Tomb Of The Unknowns Sparks Outrage

BOSTON (CBS) – Two women have been placed on unpaid leave from their jobs after their photo at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia angered thousands of people on Facebook.
Lindsey Stone was visiting the Tomb of the Unknowns last month on a business trip when she posed for a picture next to a sign that reads “silence and respect.”
In the photo, Stone is pretending to yell and she’s showing her middle finger.
The photo, taken by co-worker Jamie Schuh, went viral and sparked thousands of angry comments.
Some of those comments were posted on the Facebook page of their employer, Living Independently Forever, Inc.,(LIFE) a non-profit organization in Hyannis that helps adults with disabilities on Cape Cod.
The uproar forced the organization to post this statement Tuesday afternoon:
“On Nov. 19 at approximately 6 p.m., we became aware that one of our employees had posted an offensive, inappropriate photograph on her personal Facebook page. The photo was taken at a national historic site in October by a fellow employee during a trip to Washington, D.C. attended by 40 residents and eight staff. The photo has since been removed from Facebook, and both employees have been placed on unpaid leave pending the results of an internal investigation.
This photograph in no way reflects the opinions or values of the LIFE organization, which holds our nation’s veterans in the highest regard. We are proud to have veterans serving on our staff and board of trustees, and we value their service. The men and women who have selflessly fought and sacrificed their lives to protect the rights and lives of Americans deserve our utmost respect and gratitude. We are acutely aware that this photo has done a disservice to veterans and we are deeply saddened that it was taken and shared in a public medium.”
WBZ-TV has reached out to Stone and her Schuh for comment, but has not heard from them yet. When atWBZ reporter approached Schuh at her home Tuesday afternoon, she slammed the door on him.

tgusa, the evidence available to you is visual (using sight), and therefore one of the 5 senses most humans have. In this case visual evidence shows a vile looking woman (mouth agape), with left hand index finger held up under an Arlington National Cemetery requesting silence and respect.
The sign confirms that the building behind her is indeed found in Arlington National Cemetery, although I suspect many would recognize even part of the building without the additional benefit of the sign which the woman appears to be using to make her disrespectful statement to war veterans and their loved ones.
Also, please notice the shadows on the bushes in the photo. They are perfectly aligned for late afternoon sun, which the slightly golden tone would indicate. This would be very hard to do in Photoshop and add to the authenticity of this photo.
Do you need anymore evidence, or will this suffice?

You are correct M but I still don’t see any proof that the thing in the picture is actually a woman.
I mean, just because she says she is doesn’t mean it is so.

I see a future where this so called woman has to physically and personally fight to defend her rights. There is a good chance that she will end up as a child bearer or as the entertainment as the devils we are fighting will give her only those two choices. When that day comes perhaps we should flip her the bird, then we will see how tough she is. She doesn’t like the way she is treated in this vile western civilization that white males created and developed over the centuries, she deserves a change. I have been listening to the stale white bread left and their black and brown house-boys. According to them white men are the ickyist people on the planet, apparently.

“After an explosion of fury erupted over the photo, Stone posted on her Facebook page: “Whoa whoa whoa… wait. This is just us, being the douchebags that we are, challenging authority in general. Much like the pic posted the night before, of me smoking right next to a no smoking sign. OBVIOUSLY we meant NO disrespect to the people that serve or have served our country.””
And this is why I place no ’employer’ names or addresses to my facebook account. I don’t want my current or past employers interfering with my privacy.
