Mali Islamists ‘Surprise’ France by Using Arms and Tactics Provided by US and NATO Allies During Libyan Civil War

Just a thought, but I’m thinking France is sorely regretting her decision to arm the Libyan Islamist Rebels…

As for Obama’s role in all of this, I’m pretty sure everything is going according to another one of his great, master plans.  Funny thing is, Obama wants to disarm American citizens, yet arm everyone else in the world.  That’s a recipe for disaster, my friends.  And, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that we, the People, are on the short end of that stick:

PARIS: French forces in Mali have been taken by surprise by the fighting strength of the Islamist radicals they are attempting to drive out of the centre of the country, it emerged on Sunday.

Aides to President Francois Hollande admitted the militants were better equipped, armed and trained than they had expected.

“What has struck us markedly is how modern their equipment is and their ability to use it,” one said in a reference to the rebels’ hit on a French Gazelle helicopter.

The helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing and its pilot, Lieutenant Damien Boiteux, died of his injuries after being shot with a light arm.

The helicopter was brought down during an attack on an Islamist convoy travelling between the towns of Mopti and Sevare in central Mali.

“Initially, they appeared like a rag-tag bunch travelling in their Toyotas with a few weapons,” the official added. “But they’ve shown themselves to be well-equipped, well-armed and well-trained.”

The French officials believe the Islamists obtained many of their weapons during last year’s unrest, when arms were delivered to rebels fighting to overthrow Libyan dictator Moamer Kadhafi.

“In Libya they picked up modern, sophisticated kit that is a lot more robust and effective than could have been imagined,” the source added.

The strength of the Islamists appears to have bolstered France’s resolve to limit its intervention to pushing the Islamists back and softening them up for a West African force to re-establish government control over the north of Mali, which has been under the rule of Al-Qaeda-linked groups since April 2012.

French Senate passes ban on full Muslim veils

PARIS – The French Senate on Tuesday overwhelmingly passed a bill banning the burqa-style Islamic veil in public, but the leaders of both parliamentary houses said they had asked a special council to first ensure the measure passes constitutional muster amid concerns its tramples on religious freedoms.

The Senate voted 246 to 1 Tuesday in favor of the bill, which has already passed in the lower chamber, the National Assembly. It will need President Nicolas Sarkozy’s signature.

Legislative leaders said they wanted the Constitutional Council to examine it.

“This law was the object of long and complex debates,” the Senate president, Gerard Larcher, and National Assembly head Bernard Accoyer said in a joint statement explaining their move. They said in a joint statement that they want to be certain there is “no uncertainty” about it conforming to the constitution.

The measure effects less than 2,000 women.

Many Muslims believe the legislation is one more blow to France’s second religion, and risks raising the level of Islamophobia in a country where mosques, like synagogues, are sporadic targets of hate. However, the vast majority behind the measure say it will preserve the nation’s singular values, including its secular foundation and a notion of fraternity that is contrary to those who hide their faces.

France would be the first European country to pass such a law though others, notably neighboring Belgium, are considering laws against face-covering veils, seen as anathema to the local culture.

French Cops Recieve Death Threats from “Rioters”

Gee, just who are these “rioters” and why do they hate the French police?

If I may be so bold, let me see if I can take a stab at this:  The “rioters” are Muzzie immigrants/invaders who believe they are entitled to special privileges because they are “superior” to the French “infidels” and, after all,  Sharia Law trumps any French law…

Of course, you would never know this by just reading the following piece of watered-down journalism.  Nope.  French journalists are “interdit” from actually calling Muslims “Muslims.”  Instead, French journalists (along with their international siblings) must resort to all sorts of nebulous descriptive nouns—like rioters, arsonists, gangsters, hoodlums, delinquents, and immigrants—in an effort to avoid actually mentioning the word “Muslim:”

Grenoble – A group of police officers have been forced to take time off after receiving death threats and coming under fire in the French city of Grenoble, officials said on Tuesday.

Authorities reported another arson attack overnight, following a string of arrests and raids as tensions rumbled on after a week of fierce street battles sparked by the killing of a robber by police.

Judicial officials said on Tuesday that arsonists drove a burning car into a municipal storage building in the working class suburb of Villeneuve, scene of running battles between police and rioters last week.

The local police chief Brigitte Jullien told reporters that three officers involved in the July 15 shooting had been transferred out of their unit and that reinforcements had been brought in from other cities.

Another 20 officers from the same detective squad have taken time off to spend with their families and “take a step back following these threats”, she said.

Police said they found sub machine guns and handguns when they raided a bar in Villeneuve on Monday. Meanwhile, authorities said gangs had made death threats against local officers over the killing of the suspect.

“We are giving protection to the families who are threatened but at the same time we are using lots of means to find the authors of these threats,” said Prime Minister Francois Fillon.

“They will be arrested and brought to justice.”

France’s Lower House of Parliament Votes to Ban Islamic Veils

France’s lower house of parliament has overwhelmingly approved a bill that would ban wearing the Islamic full veil in public.

There were 335 votes for the bill and only one against in the 557-seat National Assembly.

It must now be ratified by the Senate in September to become law.

The ban has strong public support but critics point out that only a tiny minority of French Muslims wear the full veil.

Many of the opposition Socialists, who originally wanted the ban limited only to public buildings, abstained from voting after coming under pressure from feminist supporters of the bill.

President Nicolas Sarkozy has backed the ban as part of a wider debate on French identity but critics say the government is pandering to far-right voters.

After the vote, Justice Minister Michele Alliot-Marie said it was a victory for democracy and for French values.

“Values of freedom against all the oppressions which try to humiliate individuals; values of equality between men and women, against those who push for inequality and injustice.”

The vote is being closely watched in other countries, the BBC’s Christian Fraser reports from the French capital Paris.

Spain and Belgium are debating similar legislation, and with such large-scale immigration in the past 20 or 30 years, identity has become a popular theme across Europe, our correspondent says.

I heard a few of my older relatives talk a few times about the French resistance. They were fierce warriors and proud patriots, defenders of France. As I got older and learned more about the modern world, I thought of the French as weak, liberal has-beens. Once they sold out to the EU, caved to the islamic infestation and refused to recognize the enemy within. I knew I was right. France was dead; the last brave Frenchman was long gone.

Today I see a spark of hope. Farmers tillers of the earth, hard working against all odds, in any weather, outdoorsmen. Now they have a cause and something to resist-their own corrupt, ineffective and worthless government. Not much of a revolution yet but the people are speaking up everywhere, in the USA, in Iran, Honduras and now in France and other EU states. The NWO wasn’t planning for a global resistance movement but one is forming. Viva, la revolution!

The crisis has driven many EU farmers into a “milk strike,” with thousands refusing to deliver milk to the industrial dairy conglomerates that produce anything from skimmed milk to processed cheese. But because cows have to be milked every day anyhow, some farmers have been dumping the overflow in protest.
-The best part of this protest is eventually the farmers will win. As milk prices go down and milk gets rare an underground economy will form. Other products will enter the new economy and the EU will lose even more revenue. Eventually like most political lackeys they will be forced to bend to the will of the people.

Paris pool bans Muslim woman in ‘burqini’ swimsuit

A Paris swimming pool has refused entry to a young Muslim woman wearing a “burqini,” a swimsuit that covers most of the body, officials said Wednesday.

The pool ban came as French lawmakers conduct hearings on whether to ban the burqa after President Nicolas Sarkozy said the head-to-toe veil was “not welcome” in secular France.

Officials in the Paris suburb of Emerainville said they let the woman swim in the pool in July wearing the “burqini,” designed for Muslim women who want to swim without revealing their bodies.

But when she returned in August they decided to apply hygiene rules and told her she could not swim if she insisted on wearing the garment, which resembles a wetsuit with built-in hood.

[Whaaaat?  The French have "hygiene rules???" Seriously?   Get outta' here! ]

Pool staff “reminded her of the rules that apply in all (public) swimming pools which forbid swimming while clothed,” said Daniel Guillaume, an official with the pool management.

Le Parisien newspaper said the woman, identified by her first name Carole, was a French convert to Islam and that she was determined to go to the courts to challenge the decision.

“Quite simply, this is segregation,” the paper quoted her as saying. “I will fight to try to change things. And if I see that the battle is lost, I cannot rule out leaving France.”

Some 40 rioters in a Paris suburb hurled Molotov cocktails at police and firefighters, torched cars and one person fired a handgun during a rampage early Monday prompted by the death of a teen pizza deliverer fleeing police.

Interior Minister Brice Hortefeux called for calm after the overnight violence, signalling fears that unrest by angry suburban youth could spread from Bagnolet, on Paris’ eastern edge. Mr. Hortefeux announced plans for an internal police investigation with results to be made public.

Police reinforced their presence in Bagnolet, and some 40 vans of riot police were seen outside the housing project where the rioting occurred. No one was injured, authorities said.

Some witnesses claimed that a police car hit the 18-year-old’s motorcycle after he tried to flee a document check outside the project. “I saw it with my own eyes …. He didn’t stop (and) they hit him,” Alexandre Matthias told iTele TV station.

[Now, why in the world would anyone flee a document check point?  Can you say, "Illegal Immigrant?"]

However, Philibert Demory, deputy prosecutor of Bobigny, which handles the region, said that “as it stands so far there is no element to show contact” between the two vehicles. He asked witnesses to come forward.

The teenager lost control of his motorcycle and hit a metal barrier; he then died en route to the hospital, police said.

About 40 young people hurled Molotov cocktails and projectiles at police and emergency workers on the scene, and one person fired a handgun at police, Mr. Hortefeux’s office said in a statement.

The rioters set fire to 29 cars and smashed windows of a high school and store, the statement said. One person was detained and order was restored after police reinforcements arrived.

PARIS (AFP) — French youths burned 317 cars and wounded 13 police officers overnight during the now traditional bout of street violence on the eve of the Bastille Day national holiday, police said.

As French troops and their guests of honour from the Indian army made last minute preparations for the July 14 parade on the Champs Elysees in Paris, the suburbs of major cities were contemplating another clean-up operation.

By 6:00 am (0400 GMT), police headquarters in Paris had recorded 317 burnt out cars — up 6.7 percent on 2008 — and 240 arrests, almost double the total for the same period last year.

These numbers were expected to increase as fresh reports came in.

The injured officers, 12 members of the police and one gendarme, were mainly suffering from hearing difficulties after being targeted by youths throwing fireworks and small-scale home-made explosives.

France marks Bastille Day as the anniversary of July 14, 1789, when a revolutionary mob stormed the Parisian prison and set in motion the events that would lead to the overthrow of the monarchy.

Today, disaffected youths from bleak suburban housing projects around major cities use it to express their frustration with high unemployment rates and what they see as France’s failure to integrate ethnic minorities.

Sarkozy says burqas have no place in France

PARIS (Reuters) – President Nicolas Sarkozy said on Monday that burqas, garments that cover women from head to toe and hide their faces, had no place in France as they were a sign of the subjugation of women.

During a solemn speech to parliament on a wide range of issues, Sarkozy backed an initiative launched by legislators last week who expressed concern over an increase in the use of burqas in France.

“The issue of the burqa is not a religious issue, it is a question of freedom and of women’s dignity,” Sarkozy told a joint session of both houses of parliament, held at the Palace of Versailles.

“The burqa is not a religious sign, it is a sign of the subjugation, of the submission of women. I want to say solemnly that it will not be welcome on our territory,” he said to strong applause.

Referring to a cross-party initiative by close to 60 legislators last week, who proposed a parliamentary commission to look into the spread of the burqa and find ways to combat the trend, Sarkozy said it was the right way to proceed.

“A debate has to take place and all views must be expressed. What better place than parliament for this? I tell you, we must not be ashamed of our values, we must not be afraid of defending them,” he said.

The debate about the burqa is reminiscent of a controversy that raged for a decade in France about Muslim girls wearing headscarves in class. Eventually, a law was passed in 2004 banning pupils from wearing conspicuous signs of their religion at state schools.

Critics say the law stigmatized Muslims at a time when the country should be fighting discrimination in the job and housing markets that has caused a rift between mainstream society and many youths from an immigrant background.

Yeah, yeah, yeah…  The usual crap from multiculturalists who refuse to admit that it is Islam itself that demands “a rift” between Muslims and infidels…
