Why is the British Council, sponsored by the British Foreign Office, endorsing a textbook that wipes Israel off the map and indoctrinates students with anti-Western material?

Ahmadinejad promised it. Now British textbooks are doing it. Israel has been wiped off the map by Garnet Education, an English-language teaching company in Britain, whose educational textbook ‘Skills in English Writing Level 1′, aimed at foreign students and immigrants to the UK, contains a map with “Occupied Palestine” in place of the Jewish State.

Speaking to the Algemeiner, the prominent American Jewish newspaper which broke the story, school teacher Liz Wiseman noted that the book is “one of the more popular and mainstream English language teaching (ELT) textbooks published by Garnet, which is quite popular and mainstream itself.”

A number of neoconservative publications, such as The Commentator, have picked up on the story. Crucially, however, they missed a vital detail: Garnet Education is controlled by a Lebanese media empire owned by pro-Syrian Arab nationalist Tahseen Khayat, whose daughter runs the UK subsidiary companies, including Garnet Education.

I get a kick out of how the journalists attempt to distance the Muzzy jihadists from Islam by making sure we all know that these two are “converts” to Islam.  Would they be so apologetic if Christian converts were to blame?

Two Muslim converts have been arrested in East London on suspicion of plotting an attack against the London 2012 Olympic Games canoeing venue.

Sources told The Daily Telegraph that the arrests were based on a tip-off after men were seen behaving suspiciously close to the venue in Waltham Abbey, Hertfordshire on Monday.

Hertfordshire police officers began combing the banks after three men were seen in a dinghy on the River Lea.

The two men, aged 18 and 32, were arrested at separate residential addresses in east London, by officers from the Metropolitan Police Counter-Terrorism Command, at 7am on Thursday.

They were detained under the Terrorism Act 2000 on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism and held at a central London police station. Officers were last night searching two addresses in East London.

A friend of the arrested men named the 18-year-old as Jamal ud-Din and said the older man was someone he knew only as “Zakariya.”

Hmm…  A quick internet search of “Jamal Uddin” led me to this photo from the DailyMail.uk:

Gee, notice any resemblance?  Yup, that’s right, Jamaal is a busy, busy, little activist Muzzy.

Mizanur Rahman, 29, said the arrests “might have had something to do with the fact that they recently went canoeing” on the River Lea, a branch of which runs through the Olympic site in east London.

“It’s just people trying to get into the Olympic spirit,” he told the Associated Press but added he believed the authorities would try “painting it as jihad training.”

Residents living in the Hazlemere marina, near the Olympic canoeing venue, reported a significant police operation, involving up to 30 officers, had been launched after several men were seen behaving suspiciously in a dinghy on Monday night.

It took detectives another two days before dawn raids were carried out in East London.

Money from the Department for International Development has helped pay for a controversial programme that has led to miscarriages and even deaths after botched operations.

Tens of millions of pounds of UK aid money have been spent on a programme that has forcibly sterilised Indian women and men, the Observer has learned. Many have died as a result of botched operations, while others have been left bleeding and in agony. A number of pregnant women selected for sterilisation suffered miscarriages and lost their babies.

The UK agreed to give India £166m to fund the programme, despite allegations that the money would be used to sterilise the poor in an attempt to curb the country’s burgeoning population of 1.2 billion people.

Court documents filed in India earlier this month claim that many victims have been left in pain, with little or no aftercare. Across the country, there have been numerous reports of deaths and of pregnant women suffering miscarriages after being selected for sterilisation without being warned that they would lose their unborn babies.

Yet a working paper published by the UK’s Department for International Development in 2010 cited the need to fight climate change as one of the key reasons for pressing ahead with such programmes. The document argued that reducing population numbers would cut greenhouse gases, although it warned that there were “complex human rights and ethical issues” involved in forced population control.

Human rights campaigner Devika Biswas told the court that “inhuman sterilisations, particularly in rural areas, continue with reckless disregard for the lives of poor women”. Biswas said 53 poor and low-caste women were rounded up and sterilised in operations carried out by torchlight that left three bleeding profusely and led to one woman who was three months pregnant miscarrying. “After the surgeries, all 53 women were crying out in pain. Though they were in desperate need of medical care, no one came to assist them,” she said.

LONDON // The UK’s Muslim adviser on prisons said that outdated attitudes among imams were the reason record numbers of young British Muslims are turning to crime.

Mosques fail to offer facilities relevant to young, British-born Muslims while imams are often brought in from abroad, do not speak English and focus only on religious rituals, said Ahtsham Ali, who has been adviser to Britain’s Prison Service for the past eight years.

Mr Ali also blamed family breakdowns, arranged marriages and drugs for the fact that there are almost 11,000 Muslim males, most in their teens or 20s, in prison.

That figure is almost six times what it was 20 years ago and represents 12.6 per cent of the total prison population, compared to the 3 per cent of Muslims in the population as a whole.

In an interview in The Times newspaper this week, Mr Ali said that old-fashioned attitudes in mosques had resulted in young people turning away from religion in droves.

“It is a tragedy,” he said. “I have seen youngsters – the next generation – just totally switch off from it. This is dangerous. It allows others to take advantage, to take up the vacuum.

“Nearly all mosques are their own independent kingdoms and they will decide what to do. Mosque committees have supreme power. Most will get imams imported from other countries who can’t speak English. More importantly they can’t relate to second and third-generation youngsters growing up here.”

BRIT spooks have stopped SIXTY terror plots involving Black Widow bombers.

“We have broken up a number of attacks with women involved. This is not anti-Muslim, it is a fact that women are being used as bombers and so they have to be stopped.

But spy chiefs believe there are even more women being recruited by male relatives to take their places.

A senior security source has revealed that in the past year between 50 and 60 attacks have been averted after spies infiltrated Muslim terror cells.

It is estimated there are 2,200 people under surveillance in this country, including girls and women.

They are usually recruited by fathers or brothers as many are restricted from talking to men outside the family.

UK Hospital trust rejects Bible ban

I find it funny that medical professionals in the UK would fear a Bible but allow muslim nurses to wear long sleeves touching their wrists. The VA here in Tampa has a few doing the same thing, know your rights and request another nurse. Hospitals are full of germs; the nurses wash their hands but not their sleeves. If you are concerned about germs make sure your medical staff doesn’t wear sleeves.

A ban on bedside Bibles considered by an NHS hospital trust that feared the Christian holy books could spread germs has been rejected.
-I understand the concern but have to wonder what a call to ban bedside korans would have resulted in and why now? Hospitals have had Bibles for a very long time; are there new Bible hunting germs or is this an overreaction by UK doctors?

Bibles in bedside areas could pose a risk of cross-infection if not cleaned properly, according to research studied by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

But the trust decided against banning the book in bedside lockers, opting instead to keep copies in holders and protective plastic covers that can be easily cleaned after each patient has used them.

But on wards for patients with virulent infections, single use Bibles will be introduced.
The books will be disposed of and replaced with new ones after use by each patient in two wards and some side rooms.
-What no Christian group demanding that all Bibles be protected and not destroyed? Just a cheap shot at the minions but the devil made me do it.

UK police arrest 6 men in suspected Quran burning

LONDON — British police say they have arrested six men on suspicion of stirring racial hatred after they posted a video on the Internet in which they appear to burn two Qurans on Sept. 11.

Northumbria police say the men posted bail and were released. They will face further court hearings for their actions in the town of Gateshead in northern England, police said in a statement.

The arrests were made public Thursday. Police say two men were arrested Sept. 15 and four on Sept. 22. Police would not say how much bail was required.

The arrests follow a controversy that started when a Florida pastor said he would burn a Quran on the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

Gateshead officials said Thursday that the behavior does not reflect community values.

Dad charged over threat to kill Harry Potter star

The father and brother of an actress who starred in the Harry Potter films have been charged with threatening to kill her.

Afshan Azad, 22, has appeared in four of the movies as Padma Patil, a classmate of the young wizard.

She was allegedly attacked at her home in Longsight, Manchester, on May 21 this year.

Now her father Abdul Azad, 54, and brother, Ashraf Azad, 28, both of Beresford Road, Longsight, have appeared in court.

Abdul is accused of threatening to kill his daughter and Ashraf of threatening to kill and assault occasioning actual bodily harm against his sister.

Both men appeared at Manchester magistrates court and the case was adjourned until later this month for committal proceedings to crown court.

Afshan was studying for her AS levels at the Xaverian College in Rusholme when she was first cast in the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
