Damage control or a real attempt at building bridges of understanding. I would suspect both. Many of the muslims donating time and money no doubt do feel ashamed to be linked to the Fort Hood shooter even if only by religion. Like most things islam, there is another part to this story. The group heading this up is well known in the political islam circles, with historic links to radical islamic groups and radical Saudi’s (we can argue if there is another kind later). The suspicions of political damage control cannot be easily dismissed in this case.

FLINT TOWNSHIP (WJRT) — (11/09/09)–The Muslim community in greater Flint wants to do its part to support the families of those affected by last Thursday’s shooting rampage at Fort Hood.
-I found this article while looking over countless others asking people not to assume just because the shooter was a suspected radical muslim. Or just because he had a history of preaching radical islamic ideology to other muslim solders, or that he expressed to his chain of command that he did not want to fight other muslims that we should not assume that his religion had a part in his sudden attack. I will give into the innocent until proven guilty in a court of law routine because that is the way our legal system works but elimination of the shooters potential motivation based on pattern analysis because some groups feeling might be hurt is cowardly and unnecessary.

The Flint Islamic Center is working together with a national group to raise money for those directly impacted by the Fort Hood tragedy.
-Stated like that it would also include the shooters family.

-What about as “muslims?” No doubt, some muslims would celebrate the shooters promotion from American soldier to jihadi. I have seen a few articles highlighting American muslims wishing to use this tragedy to gain ten minutes of fame for honoring the major but I am not in the habit of posting radical islamic propaganda so if you want to see it, go google it.

-Catch the “alleged” common in these stories but more for legal protection of the news agency and not for the benefit of the islamic community.

-I can only speculate as to the motives of the individual muslims donating but I am very familiar with the motivation behind the ISNA.

How can you trust the CDC when they themselves admit that they are no longer testing for Swine Flu, yet offer Bunyanesque “estimates” on the number of Americans infected with the Swine Flu virus?

“The boogeyman will get you!” parents sometimes tell misbehaving children. With about 40% of parents saying “no!” to vaccinating their kids for swine flu, apparently health officials think turnabout is fair play. And the media seem happy to help.

You see it in such headlines as “CDC Shocker: Swine Flu Killing Young People at Record Rate!” And in lines of panicked parents queued outside vaccine clinics like fans trying to score tickets to a Paul McCartney concert. And in schools closing willy-nilly, which could cost the nation tens of billions, according to a recent Brookings Institute study.

Which is so sad, because this boogeyman is not much more substantial than the legendary one. And adding the proverbial insult to injury, parents are told they must get their children vaccines that–because of the shortage and despite Obama administration promises–they can’t get.

As told, the tale does sound scary. Almost a quarter of deaths from swine flu since Sept. 1 have occurred “in young people under the age of 25,” Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) official Anne Schuchat declared at a press conference. Among cases of seasonal flu, those over 65 account for about 90% of deaths.

What Schuchat didn’t say is that, as tragic as any child’s death always is, in this case they merely represent a disproportionately larger slice of a very small pie. Very few people are dying of swine flu in any age category. Put another way, it’s not that younger people are being slammed but that older ones are catching a break.

Hence among 65,000 college students afflicted with CDC-defined “flu-like illness” seriously enough to seek medical help, according to an American College Health Association running survey, there have been only 123 hospitalizations and zero deaths. That in turn reflects swine flu as a whole, which in the seven months since the outbreak began has apparently killed fewer Americans than normally die every two weeks from “ordinary” flu during the season.

But the CDC claims to have scary numbers as well as percentages, with 85 attributed swine flu fatalities under age 18 in the last two months, as of Oct. 30. By comparison, in the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons there were 78 and 88 such deaths reported, respectively. Although it appears the epidemic has peaked, attributed child swine flu fatalities this season will eclipse them. But it probably won’t mean much according to James Chin, a professor at the University of California, Berkeley, and former World Health Organization epidemiologist.

That’s because, he says, the deaths attributed to swine flu both now and in the future will reflect the rule that “the more you look, the more you find.”

Understand first that neither the seasonal nor the swine flu death figures are supposed to represent total numbers, but rather what the CDC surveillance system nets. Causes of death are determined not by computers but by human beings who are sensitive to what Chin calls “media hype.”

True, to be labeled a swine flu fatality you have to have the virus. But after that it gets tricky. According to the CDC, “Many millions” of Americans have been symptomatic with swine flu and, therefore, says Chin, many people “will be dying of any number of things but just happen to be infected.”

The CDC says about 30% of the cases classified as swine flu fatalities had chronic medical conditions such as asthma, cerebral palsy, and muscular dystrophy. These could be contributing causes, but they can also kill on their own. The more swine flu is in the news, the more likely it will be listed as the primary cause of death.

Such a phenomenon, Chin says, occurred during the early 1980s media blitz over the tampon-related “toxic shock syndromeepidemic.” According to Chin, “Every time there was a headline, toxic shock cases shot up. It turns out it was occurring in small numbers. It was blown out of proportion.” A later CDC analysis showed that through 1986 fewer than 200 women died, including those who never used tampons.

Chin says a bonafide apples-to-apples comparison might still show swine flu claiming more children’s lives than does seasonal flu typically, but based on his observations “It still can’t be that much more severe.”

It’s also necessary to view childhood flu deaths in perspective to all childhood deaths.

Annually, about 50,000 Americans perish before their 18th year. Unintentional injuries alone kill about 5,000 children below age 15, according to the National Safety Council. Of these, 1,100 are drownings and an additional 600 are from suffocation. These occur each year and yet could be prevented without quarantining Johnny or Jane at the South Pole.

Specifically regarding infectious diseases, there are probably few Americans who fear methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA–indeed many probably haven’t heard of it. Yet each year it kills about 19,000 Americans, including an estimated 150 below the age of 18.

It’s sad that public health officials seem to believe that getting people to do “the right thing” requires presenting a modern version of the Slaughter of the Innocents. It’s also ironic in that surely some vaccination antipathy reflects the constant cries of “Wolf!” since the swine flu outbreak began.

There was the first declaration of a public health emergency in late April, with almost no U.S. deaths at the time. Then came the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology”plausible scenario” of 30,000 to 90,000 deaths with a “mid-October” peak. It came up rather short–though the latest CDC weekly FluView report may indeed indicate the peak of hospitalizations and deaths came in mid-October.

For that matter, consider five years of scary promulgations and headlines about avian flu such as “Flu Pandemic Could Kill 150 Million, U.N. Warns.” Remember avian flu?

It’s folly to think you can solve a problem caused partly by crying wolf simply by crying wolf even louder. That just squanders the credibility among public health officials–credibility which should be their most precious asset.

Look, I’m all for Capitalism, but Rupert Murdoch is acting like a spoiled little child.  Fact of the matter is that Google brings in more customers than he realizes.  As soon as he defeats Google’s web-bots, he’s going to learn his hard lesson the old fashion way—via the pocketbook.  Can’t say I didn’t try to warn him:

News Corp Sites May Be Removed From Google

News Corp chairman Rupert Murdoch has suggested the company’s online newspaper pages will be invisible to Google users when it launches its new paid content strategy.

He claimed that readers who randomly reach a page via an internet search hold little value to advertisers.

When asked by Sky News Australia’s political editor David Speers why News Corp has not stopped Google from finding its content, Mr Murdoch replied: “I think we will.”

He cited the Wall Street Journal as an example of where only the first paragraph comes up on search engines and is free. Anything after that is subscription-based.

He is planning to make newspapers like The Times and Sunday Times chargeable online.

Using the robots.txt protocol on a site indicates to automated web spiders such as Google’s not to index that particular page or to serve up links to it in users’ search results.

As well as Google, he criticised other sites like Microsoft and Ask.com for also taking a free ride on its content – “the people who just simply pick up everything and run with it – steal our stories … without payment”, he claimed.

He said: “There’s not enough advertising in the world to make all the websites profitable. We’d rather have fewer people coming to our websites but paying.

“There are no news websites or blog websites anywhere in the world making any serious money, some may be breaking even or making a couple of million.”

Referring to people finding News Corp stories via search engine websites, he said: “When they click it, they get the page with the story that’s in our paper.

“Who knows who they are or where they are. They don’t suddenly become loyal readers of our content.”

He then turned his attention to the BBC, saying it was a “scandal” that everyone with a TV was “compelled” to pay a licence fee.

He said although the BBC did not charge for its own online content, it was the taxpayer who was ultimately paying for it.

Earlier in the year, his son, James Murdoch, called for major changes in the way UK broadcasting is run and regulated, and strongly criticised the BBC and TV watchdogs.

Obama Ignores Terror Threat at His Own Peril

In the wake of “11/5,” the attack at Fort Hood, Barack Obama faces a tough choice–like it or not.

The 44th president must choose to confront an unpleasant reality, head on–or else it will run him over. The issue is the threat of terrorist violence, here on the homefront.

Terrorism, and the debate over how to respond to terrorism, was the defining issue of the 43rd presidency. And now it’s apparent that Obama, too, will spend the bulk of his presidency confronting terror, from Afghanistan to new battlezones, such as central Texas.

Obama and fellow Democrats would rather, of course, talk about health care. But over the next few years, the Fort Hood shooting is going to be a bigger story, since it is connected to our relations, good and bad, with the entire Islamic world, including nuclear Pakistan and almost- nuclear Iran.

For his sake, and for ours, Obama needs to understand that sometimes even presidents don’t get to decide the agenda — the agenda is decided for him. In such a situation, the question is whether or not the president can adapt to the new era and its new challenges.

So this president needs to launch an aggressive investigation, digging into every aspect of Thursday’s shooting rampage that left 13 dead and dozens injured. How did it happen? Who bears responsibility? And, most importantly, what must we change now? Otherwise, if Obama simply talks about health care and “cap-and-trade” and “don’t ask, don’t tell” and all the other staples of his 2008 agenda, he will be left in the dust by the cyclonic events of 2009 and beyond. And in the wake of the 11/5 shootings, his presidency could be blown away by a whirlwind of damaging leaks, embarrasing reports, and well-justified fears.

Obama will always have his base of support, of course, especially in the media. Taking their cues, as ever, from the siren song of secular liberalism, the Mainstream Media would rather talk about health care, with an occasional digression into gay marriage. As documented by the Media Research Center, MSM reporters are mostly loathe to draw anything other than politically correct conclusions about the religious and ethnic dimensions of the Fort Hood mass murder.

Thus the MSM is likely to be left in the dust by more fearless, more energetic media. Columnists Dick Morris and Eileen McGann were blunt in their e-mail headline: “Ft. Hood Attack Was Terrorism.” And also on Sunday morning, the top dozen headlines at WorldNetDaily, a popular conservative Web site, dealt forcefully with Fort Hood. So while the MSM is bemoaning “stress,” “PTSD,” and “over-extension,” WorldNetDaily is offering an entirely different narrative, featuring headlines such as “Muslims: ‘America’s chickens have come to roost,’ U.S. Islamic street preachers declare Fort Hood victims got just desserts,” and “Shooter advised Obama Transition: Fort Hood triggerman aided team on Homeland Security task force,” and “Military jihadists fill ‘every branch’: Ultimate 5th column penetration, warns best-selling ‘Muslim Mafia’ [author]” One additional piece was penned by Joseph Farah, the Arab-American editor of WND, whose headline blared, “PC sickness killed our soldiers.” How will the commander-in-chief react to that?

Having bungled his first public remarks after the news of the killings at Fort Hood, Obama is already on the defensive. So, most likely, he and his staff will seek to change the subject as quickly as possible.

But if they try doing that, getting back to, say, “the public option,” they will fail. Because the issue isn’t going away. As Georgetown University terrorism expert Bruce Hoffman said over the weekend:

“I’m not saying it’s part of an organized campaign or a systematic strategy, but we’re seeing a sea change when we have once a month a plot that is related somehow to Afghanistan, Iraq or what these people see is a war against Islam. It’s too easy to dismiss them as unstable individuals when they have expressed strong religious beliefs with politics. That’s the essence of the radicalization we’re facing.”

In other words, Fort Hood was not a random event; it was part of a pattern.

The irony is that Obama could dominate the counter-terrorism issue, if he wanted to. The president has the governing tools that might really make a difference; he oversees the entire Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Justice Department — including the FBI. If he uses his vast authority to force a thorough, let-the-chips-fall-where-they-may investigation, demanding full accountability while chasing down every last lead and angle, the American people, most of them, will feel reassured.

But if he allows the bureaucracy to cover its own collective posterior, if he fails to force meaningful reform on the system, if he accepts a “lone gunman” thesis, then America will be convulsed with mistrust, even paranoia. Unfortunately, Obama, whose resume includes no executive experience before becoming president, seems singularly ill-equipped to ride herd over a sprawling bureaucracy.

And if the bureaucrats mislead Obama, and if he passes along their misleading conclusions to the American people — it will be Obama who gets blamed. The buck stops with him. He won’t be able to hide behind his TelePrompter.

Meanwhile, others, more determined to find answers, and less worried about upsetting the apple cart, will be pressing ahead. One such person who is already leading the charge is Sen. Joe Lieberman, chairman of the Homeland Security Committee. He has already announced that he will be launching his own investigation. Lieberman, a former Democrat and now an independent, endorsed John McCain in the election last year, in large measure because he mistrusted Obama on national security. And for their part, the Obamans probably dislike Lieberman more than any politician this side of Joe Wilson. So expect a rancorous inquiry.

But to the American people, the issue isn’t Lieberman, or any politico. The huge looming issue is security for America. We went through a period similar to this in the 1940s, when Americans started to fear that the establishment, led by a Democratic president, was not being sufficiently vigilant about the threat posed by communism. Those concerns, rational and irrational, soon cost the Democrats the presidency; indeed, they vexed American politics for the next four decades.

Now communism is gone, but Islamic radicalism and jihadism are with us. Obama will have to find an effective way to deal with this new threat or the American people will find someone else who can.

U.S. intelligence agencies were aware months ago that Army Major Nidal Hasan was attempting to make contact with people associated with al Qaeda, two American officials briefed on classified material in the case told ABC News.

t is not known whether the intelligence agencies informed the Army that one of its officers was seeking to connect with suspected al Qaeda figures, the officials said.

Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-MI) said the CIA had, so far, refused to brief the intelligence committees on what, if any, knowledge they had about Hasan’s efforts.

CIA director Leon Panetta and the Director of National Intelligence, Dennis Blair, have been asked by Congress “to preserve” all documents and intelligence files that relate to Hasan, according to the lawmaker.

Hoekstra said he is “absolutely furious” that the house intel committee has been refused an intelligence briefing by the DNI or CIA on Hasan’s attempt to reach out to al Qaeda, as first reported by ABC News.

Investigators want to know if Hasan maintained contact with a radical mosque leader from Virginia, Anwar al Awlaki, who now lives in Yemen and runs a web site that promotes jihad around the world against the U.S.

In a blog posting early Monday titled “Nidal Hassan Did the Right Thing,” Awlaki calls Hasan a “hero” and a “man of conscience who could not bear living the contradiction of being a Muslim and serving in an army that is fighting against his own people.”

According to his site, Awlaki served as an imam in Denver, San Diego and Falls Church, Virginia.

The Associated Press reported Sunday that Major Hasan attended the Falls Church mosque when Awlaki was there.

The Telegraph of London reported that Awlaki had made contact with two of the 9/11 hijackers when he was in San Diego.

He denied any knowledge of the hijacking plot and was never charged with any crime. After an intensive investigation by the FBI, Awlaki moved to Yemen.

People who knew or worked with Hasan say he seemed to have gradually become more radical in his disapproval of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

On Sunday, Senator Joseph Lieberman (D-CT) called for an investigation into whether the Army missed signs as to whether Hasan was an Islamic extremist.

“If Hasan was showing signs, saying to people that he had become an Islamist extremist, the U.S. Army has to have a zero tolerance,” Lieberman told Fox News Sunday.

A fellow Army doctor who studied with Hasan, Val Finell, told ABC News, “We would frequently say he was a Muslim first and an American second. And that came out in just about everything he did at the University.”

Finell said he and other Army doctors complained to superiors about Hasan’s statements.

“And we questioned how somebody could take an oath of office…be an officer in the military and swear allegiance to the constitution and to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic and have that type of conflict,” Finell told ABC News.

The Army Chief of Staff, General George Casey, raised concerns over the weekend that innocent Muslim soldiers could suffer as a result of the shooting at Fort Hood.

“I think the speculation (on Hasan’s Islamic roots) could potentially heighten backlash against some of our Muslim soldiers,” he said on ABC’s “This Week.”

Fort Hood, Texas – The US Army psychiatrist accused of opening fire on soldiers at Fort Hood, killing 13 people, was conscious and talking, the Austin American Statesman newspaper reported.

A spokesman at the Brooke Army Medical Centre in San Antonio, Texas, told the newspaper Sunday that Major Nidal Malik Hasan, 39, was responsive. The spokesman was not sure whether Hasan, who was shot four times by base police, was talking with investigators.

Hasan was to have deployed in late November to Afghanistan but had voiced opposition to the war. He reportedly shouted, ‘Allahu Akbar,’ or ‘God is great,’ on Thursday before emptying two handguns – firing more than 100 rounds – at the Texas base’s centre that prepares soldiers for deployment overseas.

Twelve soldiers and one civilian employee were killed in the shooting while 30 people were hospitalized.

Obviously, he is a little muzzy-headed about what the Qur’an teaches:

“And say: “The truth is from your Lord.” Then whosoever wills, let him believe, and whosoever wills, let him disbelieve. Verily, We have prepared for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.), a Fire whose walls will be surrounding them (disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah). And if they ask for help (relief, water, etc.) they will be granted water like boiling oil, that will scald their faces. Terrible the drink, and an evil Murtafaqa (dwelling, resting place, etc.)!” – Qur’an 18:29

The big unanswered question is why didn’t anyone stop him before he went on his personal Jihad?  Personally, I think quixotic Liberal Multiculturalism is to blame:

He also told colleagues at America’s top military hospital that non-Muslims were infidels condemned to hell who should be set on fire. The outburst came during an hour-long talk Hasan, an Army psychiatrist, gave on the Koran in front of dozens of other doctors at Walter Reed Army Medical Centre in Washington DC, where he worked for six years before arriving at Fort Hood in July.

Colleagues had expected a discussion on a medical issue but were instead given an extremist interpretation of the Koran, which Hasan appeared to believe.

It was the latest in a series of “red flags” about his state of mind that have emerged since the massacre at Fort Hood, America’s largest military installation, on Thursday.

Hasan, armed with two handguns including a semi-automatic pistol, walked into a processing centre for soldiers deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan, where he killed 13 and injured more than 30.

Fellow doctors have recounted how they were repeatedly harangued by Hasan about religion and that he openly claimed to be a “Muslim first and American second.”

One Army doctor who knew him said a fear of appearing discriminatory against a Muslim soldier had stopped fellow officers from filing formal complaints.

Another, Dr Val Finnell, who took a course with him in 2007 at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Maryland, did complain about Hasan’s “anti-American rants.” He said: “The system is not doing what it’s supposed to do. He at least should have been confronted about these beliefs, told to cease and desist, and to shape up or ship out. I really questioned his loyalty.”

Selena Coppa, an activist for Iraq Veterans Against the War, said: “This man was a psychiatrist and was working with other psychiatrists every day and they failed to notice how deeply disturbed someone right in their midst was.”

One of Hasan’s neighbours described how on the day of the massacre, about 9am, he gave her a Koran and told her: “I’m going to do good work for God” before leaving for the base.

A civilian police officer who shot him, bringing the rampage to an end, said Hasan appeared “calm” during the massacre, hiding behind a telephone pole and shooting fellow soldiers in the back as they tried to get away.

“He was firing at people as they were trying to run and hide, said Sgt Mark Todd. “Then he turned and fired a couple of rounds at me. I didn’t hear him say a word, he just turned and fired.”

Hasan flinched after he was shot and slid down against the pole still clutching his gun, which had a laser sight on it. The officer kicked away the weapon and handcuffed him.

He said: “The guy was breathing, his eyes were blinking. I could tell that he was fading out and he didn’t say anything. He was just kind of blinking.”

Senator Joe Lieberman, who chairs the US Senate Committee on Homeland Security, said there had been “strong warning signs” that Hasan was an “Islamist extremist”.

The committee would ask “whether the Army missed warning signs that should have led them to essentially discharge him, he said. He added: “The US

Army has to have zero tolerance. He should have been gone.”

But General George Casey, the Army’s Chief of Staff, said it was “speculation” that military authorities failed to pick up on warning signs. “I don’t want to say that we missed it,” he said.

Asked if military authorities had missed warning signs Gen Casey, the Army’s Chief of Staff, added: “We have to go back and look at ourselves ,and ask ourselves the hard questions. Are we doing the right things? We will learn from this.

“It’s too early to draw conclusions but we will ask ourselves the hard questions about what we are doing and the changes we should make as a result of this.”

Those of us with at least a causal interest in the cult of islam expect to see calls from “moderate” islamic groups to protect muslims after a large attack. Islam protects itself with a massive propaganda shield designed to distract, spin and provide cover and concealment.

Do the numbers show victims? No, there is no backlash; the police reports rarely show an increase in violence after an attack. It did not happen after 9-11 and it is not happening now. Muslims in America are as safe as any other group. The calls for tolerance, respect and protection are smoke and mirrors. A simple distraction and an opportunity to force attention on islam but only on the “positive”. After all, who can refuse to help a potential victim? It would be Un-American.

Needing 218 votes to pass, HR 3692 was just passed 220-215.

Now, remember, Zelaya was impeached by a unanimous vote in Honduras’s  full Congress, but he was a sore loser and the military was forced to physically remove him.  Birds of a red feather flock together, and so, Obama sprang into action to protect his  fellow commie buddy; putting intense pressure on Honduran leadership to re-instate Zelaya.  Well, as the following article demonstrates quite clearly, Obama has wasted untold amounts of time, energy, resources, money, etc., and come up with a big fat zero!  Yup, Obama IS the Zeromeister…

Zelaya Says Honduras Deal Is Off, as Election Nears

Ousted Honduran President Manuel Zelaya on Friday pulled out of an agreement that was supposed to solve the country’s political crisis, leaving the next moves to voters in a presidential election on Nov. 29 — and to Latin American leaders who will have to decide whether to accept the winner.

“This deal is dead. The other side has failed to uphold their end,” said Mr. Zelaya in a radio interview Friday. His move followed the Honduran Congress’s failure to vote this week on reinstating him.

Mr. Zelaya and the interim government, led by President Roberto Micheletti, agreed a week ago to create a government of national unity and let the country’s Congress decide on the issue of Mr. Zelaya’s return to office, which has been the central issue of the crisis since he was removed on June 28.

In return, the U.S., in what was a policy turnaround, said it would recognize this month’s election even if Congress didn’t return Mr. Zelaya to power, and would lift economic sanctions Washington had placed on Honduras, one of the hemisphere’s poorest countries.

After Mr. Zelaya’s statement Friday, a U.S. State Department spokesman said the U.S. didn’t consider the agreement to be dead. “Both sides need to return to the table and negotiate the formation of a national unity government,” the spokesman said.

[Yup, no surprise that the Commies in Washington are always trying to keep that spark of Hopey Change alive...]

Mr. Zelaya made his intention to withdraw from the agreement obvious late Thursday when he didn’t submit a list of candidates for a unity government. Earlier, Mr. Micheletti’s cabinet ministers had tendered their resignations to pave the way for the new government. On Friday morning, U.S. diplomats made a last-ditch, failed attempt to get Mr. Zelaya to submit names, according to a person close to the negotiations.

U.S. officials had hoped that Honduras’s Congress would reinstate Mr. Zelaya until his term ends in January in order to secure widespread international recognition for the election. But as days passed, it became clear Honduras’ Congress was in no mood for a quick return of the controversial leader. It put off a vote and said it would wait for decisions on the legality of Mr. Zelaya’s restitution from the country’s Supreme Court and other institutions.

Mr. Micheletti is likely to gain from the latest fracas. The Micheletti government, along with many Hondurans, says elections represent the best way out of the crisis, which has turned Honduras into an international pariah.

If Mr. Zelaya’s return does come to a vote in Congress, he is likely to lose. He would be facing the same legislators who on June 28 voted overwhelmingly to replace him. Mr. Zelaya’s Liberal Party, which has a majority in Congress, is now split, while Honduras’s other major party, the Nationalist Party — whose candidate now is expected to win the election — is solidly anti-Zelaya.

Mr. Zelaya’s withdrawal from the accord could put the U.S. at loggerheads with a number of Latin American countries who are insisting that the ousted president be restored to power as a necessary part of any political settlement in Honduras. Most of these countries, such as Nicaragua and Bolivia, are closely allied to Venezuela’s President Hugo Chávez, Mr. Zelaya’s most vocal supporter. But hemispheric heavyweight Brazil, which is increasingly seeking a higher profile role in Latin America, is also among the countries loudly demanding Mr. Zelaya’s return.

Mr. Zelaya was forced from the country by the army at the end of June after the Supreme Court ruled that he violated the constitution by trying to promote a referendum that critics said was aimed at keeping him in power beyond his term. Mr. Zelaya denies that was his intention.

Republican Sen. Jim DeMint lifted a hold Thursday he had placed on two key Obama administration nominees to top Latin American posts. Mr. DeMint placed the holds because the State Department had suggested it might not recognize election results if Mr. Zelaya wasn’t returned to power.

The legislator said he had received assurances from Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that the U.S. would recognize the outcome of the elections “regardless of whether Manuel Zelaya is reinstated.”

I was also there, this gentleman beat me to the mail I’d planned to send.

I kept fuming as each successive speaker droned on about “cost” and etc, to the point I finally yelled “IT’S THE **CONSTITUTION**, STUPID!” It’s not about “health” or even “care” – it’s about POWER! How many would dare speak against the regime knowing THEY get to decide whether you live or die?

I had a hard time concentrating on the speakers because I just couldn’t stop focusing on some other things.

I counted 11 snipers on the roof of the end of the Capitol building nearest where I was standing. I found it hard as hell to listen knowing I was in someone’s crosshairs.

I made a point of pointing this out to as many sheeple as possible: “You want to know what they think of you? Count the snipers on the roof right there.”

What was truly amazing to me was the number — all — who reacted in total horror and hadn’t even noticed them. Total “condition white.”

There was a large part of the crowd who decided to go across the street to the Cannon/Rayburn/Etc buildings to visit their Reps’ office. I didn’t even try because… well… Let’s just say I wasn’t going to submit to the metal-detector and leave it at that… M-kay?

I had a seat on a low wall across the street and waited for the crowd to thin a bit.

While waiting, I saw some very interesting things…

First, an ambulance came screaming up the street. When it stopped, several very healthy-looking well-dressed men in black suits poured out of the back and hustled down the street. Best-dressed EMTs I ever saw, and “when did they start carrying their EMT gear inside their coats? If I didn’t know better I’d think those were sub-machine guns!

They went down the block and into a well-guarded side-entrance into the building. In case my sarcasm is too thick this morning, these were SS or military men using an ambulance for “cover.”

Next we saw several people bodily carried out of the building by the local jackboots, including a priest in-collar who had to have been pushing 90 years old. The crowd, naturally, was a bit unhappy about this.

What was especially striking was that these folks who were carried out were tossed into the back of the aforementioned ambulance – now surrounded by more uniformed thugs which had descended like insects on a fresh carcass.

After a bit, a half-dozen of the DC Jack-boots showed at the door, each carrying a dozen or more sets of zip-cuffs, and fanned out to block the entrance. Most of the sheeple headed off at this point – the thugs’ intimidation tactics having done their job.

A few – apparently made of stouter-stuff – stayed to argue with them a bit, at which point I headed over to try to find out what was going on. What I heard did nothing to quell the rage I’d been building all day…

The priest and those carried out with him had apparently taken a copy of Princess Nancy’s bill to her office and began shredding it. This led to their being charged with “littering” and the “criminals” who did the littering – politely refusing orders to leave – were bodily removed.

Best of all, the building was then declared “closed” — because it was now “a crime scene.” I wish I were kidding, but I swear upon everything I’ve ever considered holy that every single word is true, and happened just as I described.

The mention of the arrogant display of weapons is absolutely true, though the men I saw displaying them were utter morons… They were so utterly confident in their powers of intimidation that they possessed no tactical awareness whatsoever. I’ve successfully resisted the urge to say more on THIS topic…

In sum, I was stricken once again by the startling difference between us and the lefty-protesters… Once again there was not a single piece of trash to be seen anywhere, and the crowds were utterly polite to each other and the uniformed thugs as well.

Of course I continued to count the numbers of rooftop snipers all along the area until I finally quit in disgust.

I had a bit of a rough night, and still can’t help pondering the fact that there were literally dozens of my countrymen were pointing rifles at us. I still wonder “what are these men thinking as they look down their barrel at a peaceful citizen seeking only to let his government know that he doesn’t want what they’re pushing?

If the street-level thugs are any indication, they wouldn’t think twice about murdering anyone who dared question their authority…

OTOH, had even a fraction of the crowds present decided to storm the buildings … well… ’nuff said.

I’m sickened and saddened by the whole thing…

Lastly, if you REALLY want to be sick, take a look at the huff-po article on “the 12 most offensive signs” they gleaned from their infiltration of the event, most especially the comments. The indignation displayed by those sewer dwellers is the least of their delusions – and these people VOTE, which removes the last of MY delusions that the ballot-box has much hope of solving any of our most pressing problems.

There are as many excuses for the crimes of islam as their are muslims but I wanted to pointout the most commonly seen. I should also remind everyone that passive support is still support, and judge by actions and not words when dealing with destructive cults.

It should also be pointed out that Barney Frank is the author of a medical marijuana bill that would end all prosecution of ANY persons who use marijuana.

BOSTON (FOX25, myfoxboston) – FOX25 has learned that Congressman Barney Frank was present during a marijuana arrest at James Ready’s home in Ogunquit, Maine.  Ready is well-known for his relationship with Congressman Frank.

According to a police report, police charged Ready with marijuana possession, cultivation and use of drug paraphernalia in August of 2007.  Ready admitted to civil possession and paid a fine.  The remaining charges were dismissed in 2008.

Sources tell FOX25 that when Frank was questioned he told police that he did not live in the house and that he only smoked cigars.

Congressman Frank tells FOX25 that he was surprised and disappointed with what police found.  He also tells us that he wouldn’t recognize a marijuana plant if he saw one because he is, “not a great outdoorsman,” and ,”wouldn’t recognize most plants.”

LIAR!!!!!!!  The guy wrote a freakin’ bill that legalizes pot, and he has the audacity to claim he doesn’t know what a marijuana plant looks like?  Give me break!

My computer was copied and returned by the FBI once (do not ask). In my case, I was innocent of any wrong doings and actually enjoyed the novelty of it all. In ACORN’s case, a similar outcome is doubtful.

New Orleans, Investigators are searching the New Orleans offices of the activist group ACORN in connection with embezzlement and tax fraud allegations.
-Before I say “good job” and “go get um G-man” I should remind the feds of other easier to prove tax cheats. I seem to remember a rash of political thieves, liars and elitists that had to admit that they “forgot” to pay their own pesky taxes. Arrest those a-holes and I will be glad to contribute to the FBI retirement fund. Hmm could that be considered a bribe?

Assistant Attorney General David Caldwell said a warrant was obtained to seize computers, hard drives and other documents Friday. Caldwell said investigators will copy records and hard drives, then return them to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.
-I’m betting they will find enough porn to keep the feds happily engaged for weeks.

He said the allegations of embezzlement were made last year by ACORN board members who were fired after they asked to look at the group’s books.

ACORN fired the longtime director of its Louisiana chapter last month, citing a lack of accountability.
-WARNING!!! The term “accountability” spoken aloud has been known to cause seizures in American politicians.

Really?  Did I miss something, here?  I mean, isn’t Obama the same guy who jumped to conclusions and fallaciously accused cops of being racists and for acting “stupidly?”  Shall I remind Obama of his own words?

“Now, I don’t know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role race played in that.  But I think it’s fair to say, number one, any of us would be pretty angry; number two, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home; and, number three, what I think we know separate and apart from this incident is that there’s a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately. That’s just a fact.”

Okay, let’s look at some facts:

Nidal Malik Hasan, who is currently in a coma and is expected to live, is described by his friends and family as a devout, lifelong Muslim who prays once a day, seven days a week.

He didn’t want to go to Afghanistan and fight the Islamic Terrorists.

The morning of the incident, he was busy handing out copies of the Qur’an and proselytizing.

He is quoted as saying, “Muslims had the right to rise up and attack Americans.”

He praised Muslim suicide bombers.

So, is it too much to conclude that he obviously doesn’t want to kill fellow Muslims, only fellow Americans?

Sounds like Sudden Jihad Syndrome to me…

I guess this is what they mean by a “jobless recovery:”  Give money to the unemployed; they will continue to be able to spend money to help keep the economy artificially inflated, which will keep businesses going so that they can hire more workers…

Interesting “trickle up” theory.  However, it forgets one basic fact of human nature:  Laziness.  If you are going to pay someone to just sit at home, what do you think they are going to do?  Look for a job?  Not likely!  Sure, a percentage of them will be self-motivated individuals who will continue to look for a decent job, but the lion’s share of them will just sit at home and collect unemployment, only to start looking for work when their unemployment check is finally about to run out.  Of course, by that time, the unemployment rate will have continued to climb and Congress will probably extend the unemployment benefits, yet again;  The vicious cycle begins anew.

Also, even though your Congresscritters and Senators aren’t saying it, this IS another “Stimulus.” Take note of how your Representatives voted.    Odds are, they voted for it.  As for your Senators, they ALL voted for it:

Obama to Sign Bill Extending Homebuyer Credit, Jobless Benefits

Nov. 6 (Bloomberg) — President Barack Obama is set to sign into law a bill that extends $8,000 tax credits for first- time homebuyers and unemployment benefits.

The measure also provides tax refunds to money-losing companies.

The House approved the legislation yesterday on a 403-12 vote; the Senate passed it 98-0 on Nov. 4. White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Obama will sign the bill today, the same day the Labor Department is slated to release an update on the nation’s jobless rate.

The measure extends until April 30 the homebuyers tax credit that would otherwise expire at the end of this month.

“The homebuyers’ credit has helped pave the way for stabilization in the housing market and contributed to three consecutive months of rising home prices,” said Representative Jim McDermott, a Washington Democrat. “Its extension will continue to make homeownership more affordable and bring confidence to a housing market and economy that remain fragile.”

The jobless will get as many as 20 additional weeks of unemployment assistance, depending on where they live.

Companies will be given expanded ability to apply losses to previous years’ income, allowing them to qualify this year for $33 billion in tax refunds, according to Congress’s Joint Committee on Taxation. The legislation also includes a tax break to help victims of Bernard Madoff’s multibillion-dollar Ponzi scheme.

The bill, the first major expansion of provisions in February’s stimulus package, is estimated to funnel $45 billion into the economy in the 2010 fiscal year.

Other Extensions

With unemployment projected to average 9.85 percent next year, according to a Bloomberg survey of economists, lawmakers are considering spending billions more to extend other elements of the stimulus package. Among them are subsidies to help the unemployed buy health insurance.

McDermott said lawmakers will probably move to approve additional extensions of jobless benefits to help the unemployed through much of next year, at a cost he predicted could reach $80 billion.

More than 1.4 million Americans have claimed the homebuyer credit at a cost so far of about $10 billion, according to the Treasury Department.

Under the new bill, couples earning up to $225,000 a year and individuals earning up to $125,000 will be eligible for the credit. That’s up from the current $75,000 limit for individuals and $150,000 for couples.

Current Homeowners

The bill also will allow homebuyers who have owned their prior residence for at least five years to receive a $6,500 credit, an expansion of the program. Those who sell their new home or no longer use it as their main residence within three years would have to repay the credit. Homes worth more than $800,000 wouldn’t be eligible.

A Nov. 3 Goldman Sachs Group Inc. report said most of those who claim the credit would have bought homes without the program. It estimated the initiative spurred 200,000 home sales that otherwise wouldn’t have occurred.

Extending the credit to those who already own homes won’t reduce the excess inventory of housing blamed for the slump because “every buyer taking advantage of the move-up credit would necessarily be a seller,” the Goldman Sachs report said. It said the plan may increase housing prices by 1 percent because “sellers are likely to incorporate a fraction of the credit amount in their sale prices.”

Economic Boost

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, a Maryland Democrat, called the jobless provision “an investment that pays off for all of us” because “money provided by unemployment insurance quickly goes into necessities and boosts local economies.”

The legislation would provide 14 additional weeks of unemployment benefits in all states, plus another six weeks in states with jobless rates topping 8.5 percent.

More than one-third of the nation’s unemployed have been out of work for at least six months, according to the Labor Department. About 1.9 million Americans will exhaust their benefits, which average $300 per week, by the end of this year without the bill, the agency said.

Representative Kevin Brady, a Texas Republican, said the provision allowing tax refunds for companies will provide “an immediate cash infusion to struggling businesses” and “free up additional payroll to help get more Americans back to work.”

The provisions were recommended by White House economic adviser Lawrence Summers, said Representative Richard Neal, a Massachusetts Democrat.

‘Corporate Giveaway’

Representative Lloyd Doggett, a Texas Democrat, criticized the plan as a “corporate giveaway” to “those with good lobbyists.” If it were a good idea, he said, why not offer it “to workers who have lost their jobs and give them back some of the taxes that they paid when they had a job?”

The bill won’t add to the budget deficit, according to congressional estimates, in part because it would be financed by delaying until 2018 a tax break for multinational corporations related to taxes they pay abroad. The legislation would also extend a 0.2 percent employer payroll surtax that otherwise would have expired at the end of the year.

That provision drew complaints from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the National Federation of Independent Business and other business groups that said in a letter it “would increase the tax burden on employers just as they are deciding whether to add employees in 2010 and 2011.”

The bill is H.R. 3548.

Remember when Obama was selling his Trojan Horse Stinkulus Package and said that if Congress passed it—which they did, of course—unemployment would not go above 8 percent, but if Congress did nothing, unemployment would reach a whopping  *gasp* 9.2 percent?

Well, I think we could have  saved some jobs and saved ourselves about a trillion dollars if Congress had done nothing:

“It’s not a good report,” said Dan Greenhaus, chief economic strategist for New York-based investment firm Miller Tabak & Co. “What we’re seeing is a validation of the idea that a jobless recovery is perfectly on track.”

I was out near MacDill AFB earlier today, an old buddy called to let me know that a fallen warrior from the greater Tampa area would be brought in and people were allowed to show respect along side of the road on the route the hearse would take.

This took place prior to the news of the attacks on Fort Hood. I am sure the fallen warriors there will also be remembered but I wanted to give Army Specialist. Eric Lembke his due respect and a heart felt thank you, he has earned it.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY (Bay News 9) — A plane carrying the body of 25-year-old Army Spc. Eric Lembke arrived at Macdill AFB Thursday afternoon followed by a procession to the funeral home.

Dozens of people gathered near the spot known as Patriots Corner on Bayshore Blvd. to pay their respects.
-There were thousands more on the base showing respect, lined up from the airfield to the gate. BTW, members of the Bayshore patriots line up at Patriots Corner on Bayshore Blvd every Friday to honor our military, rain or shine, hot or cold. They have stood their vigil for years.
Lembke was killed in Afghanistan on Oct. 23 while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Marcia Moran, the wife of a member of the military, took her children out of school so they could all pay their respects.

“This is somebody who gave the ultimate sacrifice,” Moran said. “It’s an emotional thing and we’re a military family and it could have been any of us.”

The Department of Defense says Lembke was killed when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device.

The thought hits close to home for Jessica Bennett, the wife of a Hillsborough County deputy and mother of two.

“If you’re a wife and a mother and you have somebody that’s close to you that’s doing a dangerous job; firefighter, police work, soldier, I think that stories like this really kind of touch your heart,” Bennett said.

The funeral will take place at the First Baptist Church in Plant City on Saturday.

Lembke joined the Army in January of 2008 and worked as a combat engineer. He was deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. He previously served as a Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputy. He leaves behind a wife and two daughters.
-Job well done – your mission complete. Rest in Peace soldier.

Well, this is all preliminary and open to speculation, but, if he did commit suicide, then I guess there’s no limit to what some will do to make the Right look like a bunch of psycho killers.

Officials doubt census worker killed because of his job

Investigators probing the death of a Kentucky census worker found hanging from a tree with the word “fed” scrawled on his chest increasingly doubt he was killed because of his government job and are pursuing the possibility he committed suicide, law enforcement officials said Thursday.

Two officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the case, said no final conclusions have been made in the case. In recent weeks, however, investigators have grown more skeptical that 51-year-old Bill Sparkman died at the hands of someone angry at the federal government.

The officials said investigators continue to look closely at suicide as a possible cause of Sparkman’s death for a number of reasons. There were no defensive wounds on Sparkman’s body, and while his hands were bound with duct-tape, they were still somewhat mobile, suggesting he could have manipulated the rope, the officials said.

Sparkman’s naked body was found Sept. 12 hanging from a tree yet in contact with the ground in a remote patch of the Daniel Boone National Forest near Manchester, Ky.

Details are still sketchy.  I’ll update when more information becomes available.

Of course, that hasn’t stopped CNN from already jumping in and assigning this to the “post traumatic stress disorder” file.  I find that a little odd, as there are clearly multiple shooters involved.  I don’t think I’ve ever heard of two or three shell-shocked servicemen going nuts at the same time and opening fire on others.  One, I’ll buy, but two or more?  CNN’s theory just doesn’t make sense.

UPDATE 1 – AP is reporting that Obama has been briefed on the developments.  Seems to me that this is something more than a simple case of post traumatic stress disorder, else the White House wouldn’t have felt compelled to release that tidbit of information.

UPDATE 2 – Memaw informed us that the FBI is saying that this is not terrorism related.  Then what is it?  A Man Caused Disaster, perhaps?

UPDATE 3 – Memaw just telephoned saying that Obama will be addressing the Nation about this at 5:00 pm EST.  I guess Obama wants to cut into Glenn Beck’s time slot, or something.  I mean, if it’s not terrorist related, then that would be a little odd, don’t you think?

UPDATE 4 – Memaw telephoned again to say that the perpetrators ARE military members.  Sounds to me like this is a little more involved than someone just suddenly snapping.  Obviously, they thought this out and planned it in advance.  I am real curious to find out their motives.

UPDATE 5 – Cavmom, in Texas, has been emailing updates to us all afternoon long.  She is saying that there are 3 individuals involved at 3 different locations.  One shooter was killed by local police.  She also adds, “This is not a rampage but premeditated and cowardly murder.”

UPDATE: 6, I am getting reports from the base, the shooter was a muslim Major, serving in the Army

Multiple Shootings at Fort Hood

KCEN has confirmed a mass shooting on Fort Hood in Killeen.

There are now reports of a third shooter who has opened fire on Fort Hood. One policeman is down.

So far there are 7 people reported dead, and 12 wounded. There are also reports of two different crime scenes.

One person is in custody. One person is still on the lose.

There are unconfirmed reports that one of the shooters is surrounded by police in the 42006 building on Fort Hood. That source tells KCEN the shooter has a high-powered rifle and is aiming to kill.

Killeen ISD says all Fort Hood schools are on lockdown.

Temple ISD is on a “soft” lockdown. Parents will be able to pick their children up at the normal times, though they may experience delays.

No wonder we have so many problems in Washington!

Boehner mixes up Constitution and Declaration

House Minority Leader John Boehner was fired up and ready to go at the Tea Party rally today.

He even held up his pocket copy of the Constitution, pledging to “stand here with our Founding Fathers, who wrote in the pre-amble: ‘We hold these truths to be self evident …”

Oops.

That would be the pre-amble to the Declaration of Independence that he’s reading.

The pre-amble to the Constitution (some of us can still sing the Schoolhouse Rock version):

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

Asked about the mixup, Boehner spokesman Michael Steel shot back: “Both texts are vital to the liberty beloved by every American.”

Glenn Beck had a ruptured appendix and was operated on yesterday.  We wish him good luck and Godspeed in recovering.
