Obama Didn’t Do Crap. It was the Navy

Yup, the MSM is busy spinning this story to make it all look like Obama coordinated the rescue operation.  That’s just not true.  The on scene commander already possessed the authority to take out the pirates if the hostage’s life appeared to be in immenent danger, so Obama didn’t do crap!  In fact, BlackFive believes that Obama may have actually hindered the process initially when Captain Phillips tried to escape his captors earlier by jumping into the water.

Here’s the lowdown from BlackFive:

I just finished listening to the press conference w/ ADM Gortney about the rescue of Captain Phillips.

The standing authority gave them clearance to engage the pirates if the life of the captain was in imminent danger. The on scene commander deemed this to be true and gave the order to fire. All three bad guys were taken out and then a rigid inflatable boat went to the lifeboat to retrieve Phillips.

[…]

The AP is reporting that President Obama gave the order to use military force to rescue the hostage, that is misleading.

    Dr. B,

As usual, you are right on the money in determining the facts! I have no doubt that the only “orders” mobama issued were directed to RESTRICT the actions of the Navy SEAL teams and other personnel. Of course, the MSM will spin the facts to make it look like mobama is a hero. Hell, even Fox News has already jumped on the bandwagon by repeatedly reporting that “President Obama twice authorized the military to rescue a U.S. captain held by Somali pirates”.

Just like you said, mobama didn’t do crap…but he’ll get all the credit. The REAL Credit goes to the skill and training of the snipers who made the outstanding simultaneous head shots on moving targets from a moving vessel!
