Newt Gingrich Threatens Obama With Impeachment Over Defense of Marriage Act

Hey, Newt, while I admire the effort on your part to defend traditional marriage, there are over 50 truly impeachable offenses that have been committed by Obama [CLICK HERE] and yet, this is the dark horse you’ve chosen to place your bet on?  Sounds a little odd to me that you would go after the least prosecutable of these offenses—unless, that is, you aren’t really serious about impeaching him:

Newt Gingrich: Obama Could Be Impeached Over Gay Marriage Reversal
By Paul Bedard – February 25, 2011 – USNews

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who plans within two weeks to announce if he will run for president, said today that if President Obama doesn’t change his mind and order his Justice Department to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act, Republicans in Congress should strike back and even consider impeachment proceedings.

“I believe the House Republicans next week should pass a resolution instructing the president to enforce the law and to obey his own constitutional oath, and they should say if he fails to do so that they will zero out [defund] the office of attorney general and take other steps as necessary until the president agrees to do his job,” said Gingrich. “His job is to enforce the rule of law and for us to start replacing the rule of law with the rule of Obama is a very dangerous precedent.”

He didn’t call for immediate impeachment hearings, but didn’t rule them out if Obama balks at any congressional demands to enforce the law.

[…]

Gingrich’s call for quick GOP reaction to the Justice Department’s decision to stop enforcing the marriage act was seen as a bid for the conservative and Tea Party vote, a base he would rely on if he decides to get into the presidential race.

Gingrich noted that Obama supported the law during the campaign. “He is breaking his word to the American people,” Gingrich said. Also, he added, “He swore an oath on the Bible to become president that he would uphold the Constitution and enforce the laws of the United States. He is not a one-person Supreme Court. The idea that we now have the rule of Obama instead of the rule of law should frighten everybody. The fact that the left likes the policy is allowing them to ignore the fact that this is a very unconstitutional act,” Gingrich said.

Maybe ole Newt had finally had enough impeachable actions and this was the straw that broke the camel’s back!!!

I think you might be right, Doc: he isn’t serious. Seems to me that the biggest of those 50 is his refusal to secure the borders of our nation, especially in the face of increased violence against the rightful landowners and citizens of this nation. That is a fundamental requirement of him, as president.

I don’t know if there are enough balls present in the Capitol to try this. I’m guessing not; as evidenced by Newt’s bloviating over a less than secondary issue, when there are real offenses to be dealt with.

Intrusion into the man woman relationship is an impeachable offense and really, behavior at the most disgusting level. The left has become extremely creepy. I believe they are mentally ill and they will transpose their own mental illnesses to many already unbalanced children.

  4. It saddens me to no end to think that our lea-DERS are so decieved enough to withdraw support for marriage between a man and woman and chose to enforce ‘sodom and gomorah’ principles making sodomites and lesbians a ‘protected’ class of citizens.

By removing any protections towards marriage those who support such things in the left doom society in America and the world.

Marriage is defined by the states. There is nothing in the Constitution that gives the federal government the right to define marriage. The DOMA was ruled unconstitutional in July 2010 by a federal judge. Obama will continue to enforce the law, but will not spend taxpayer money to defend a law that he agrees is unconstitutional.

An argument could be made that every newborn child has a civil right to a mother and a father. Forcing two daddies or two mommies on a child is a fundamental violation of their God given rights.

NOBODY HAS THE BALLS TO FIRE HIM!!~!!~!! HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN IMPEACHED FOR NOT DOING HIS JOB!!~!! WE ARE IN A DEPRESSION!! IS THAT POLITICALLY INCORRECT?? DID I AFFEND SOMEONE??? ARE WE A FREE SOCIETY???? ARE WE A NATION OF CRY BABIES??? WTF!!!!

  7. Bob Says:

I sincerely hope he’s not the repub pick for pres in 2012; I trust this guy to have any sort of conviction about anything as much as I trust mccain; that is, not at all.

On the other hand Newt and his DC cronies have sold our entire country to the Chinese communists and all we have to show for it is overflowing landfills. I would like to ask these rats, What, do you hate us and our country that bad you pos?
