We’ve Got Snail Mail—Three Poems from ‘NotAllDum’

Our longtime readers will no doubt remember NotAllDum and her witty comments and poetry from a few years back.

If you haven’t met her, let me tell you:  She’s an octogenarian firecracker who never backs down from a fight when she’s in the right.  Case in point, her local internet provider (the only game in town) was giving her shoddy connections, bad customer support, and charging an exorbitant fee.  So, after being given the run around for the umpteenth time, she told them to suck wind and promptly cancelled her subscription.

It’s been about three years since that time and she has yet to break down, grovel, and have her internet hooked up again—choosing instead to communicate with her elected officials via a more traditional method;  Snail Mail.  And, believe you me, she sends Snail Mail out to her elected officials like some distant relative who repeatedly forwards everyone in the world a freakin’ million chain-emails every single, blessed day!

Heck, even Obama has felt her wrath and finally given in by replying back to one of her letters of condemnation!  Of course, those of us who know and love her, joke amongst ourselves about the Secret Service coming to bust down her door in the middle of the night and carting her away, never to be seen again.

Anyway, NotAllDum sends me Snail Mail every month or so to keep me abreast of what she has been up to.  This month, she mailed me three of her poems that I thought you all might enjoy:

POEM #1:  I NEVER THOUGHT I’D SEE THE DAY……..
(9/18/2011)

I never thought I’d see the day
We’d have a president who would say
“United States is not a Christian Nation.”

I never thought I’d see the day
Homosexuals would be called “Gay”
And same-sex marriage passed by legislation.

I never thought I’d see the day
Jesus’ name can’t be said in public when we pray,
Or we’re faced with ACLU retaliation.

I never thought I’d see the day
When Supreme Court Judges voted it’s okay
To kill precious unborn, without hesitation.

I never thought I’d see the day
Leaders and lawmakers stood in the way
Of religious rights, claiming “wall of separation.”

I never thought I’d see the day
When so many people won’t obey
Federal laws for legal immigration

I never thought I’d see the day
America would be caught in the fray
Of groups wanting Christian annihilation.

I never thought I’d see the day
Socialists would try to get away
With destroying our United States Constitution.

I never thought I’d see the day
I would even consider that I may
Be in favor of an all-out revolution.

No!  I NEVER thought I’d see those days
New laws would change our Godly ways,
Facing Christians with the fear of persecution…

POEM #2:  LORD GIVE US A CHRISTIAN PRESIDENT
(9/30/2011)

We don’t need four more years of Barack Hussein Obama –
He’s kept us in turmoil like a TV “soap opera” drama –
He made outrageous promises, gave false information;
Worst was telling the world we aren’t a Christian Nation.

He continues blaming everyone but himself for our mess –
No, not his liberal Democrats, but the Republican Congress.
He’s talked “transparency” from the start, but it’s very clear,
We’ve only seen his transparency as he tries to rule with fear.

He makes speeches day and night – most we can’t believe –
He uses words and body language that continue to deceive.
He’s been so “wishy-washy,” he keeps us in suspense,
Trying to figure when he’ll quit “straddling the fence.”

He wants to dictate, and tell other nations what to do –
The new enemies he’s made for us may be quite a few.
In the time he’s served as “president” of the U.S.A.,
I’d really like to know how many weeks he’s been away.

He’s acted like a “jet-setter,” flying here and there –
Using gallons of fuel in Air Force One, seeming not to care.
He’s had a Socialist agenda before Washington, D.C.
If we let him succeed again, where will our country be?

Lord, please lead our people to vote for a President,
Who has high and moral values, who will represent
Our beloved country as we once were known to be,
A “Christian nation, home of the brave and land of the free.”

POEM #3:  OUR DAILY WARDROBE
“THE ARMOR OF GOD” – (EPH 6:11-18)
6/26/2011

Be certain to dress wisely when arising each day;
Put on God’s Whole Armor, remembering to pray.

Girt Your Loins With the Truth so you will tell no lies;
The Breastplate of Righteousness to be right in God’s eyes.

The Preparation of the Gospel of Peace worn on your feet;
To relate the story of Christ Jesus to the lost whom you meet.

Important is the Shield of Faith which protects the heart
From taunting of unbelievers, saying Christians aren’t smart.

To cover the head is the Helmet of Salvation;
We know we are saved, yet daily face temptation.

Satan knows how vulnerable God’s children can be,
And continues his fight to keep souls from being free.

The Sword of the Spirit (word of God), is a powerful tool
Teaching the love of God, eternal life;  showing Satan as a fool.

Being fully Clothed, end with prayer and supplication
And persevere in all you do with heartfelt dedication.

Now, we’re clothed in God’s Armor, and ready for the day –
We’re prepared to face enemies who would hamper our way
Of doing tasks and work that God has set before us,
And helping lost souls learn of our Lord and Savior…Jesus.
