California: Mayor Ducks Veterans Day Memorial to Attend ‘Occupy’ Rally

What the heck kind of crazy dope are you folks smoking over there in California?

UPDATE:  I did some snooping around at Mayor McLaughlin’s website and, surprise, surprise, the Commie Van Jones was a guest speaker at her 2006 Swearing in Ceremony (on page 6)!   That figures—scum in a bucket clumps together.

UPDATE #2:  I did some more digging around on the web and discovered Van Jones speaking at McLaughlin’s reelection campaign party in 2010:

Yup, she’s a commie.

Richmond Mayor to skip Veterans Day events for Occupy rally

Richmond Mayor Gayle McLaughlin will skip a Veterans Day memorial to attend an Occupy rally, a decision that is drawing criticism.

Chevron and the Richmond Museum Association are sponsoring a Veterans Day salute Friday featuring a re-enactment of the launch of a World War II-era ship at the Richmond shipyards.

McLaughlin noted that the city is not sponsoring the event, and said that the Occupy rally will honor Scott Olsen, the Iraq War veteran injured while protesting with Occupy Oakland.

“I choose to honor our veterans, not only on Veteran’s Day, but daily, by supporting an end to military warfare to prevent further fighting and dying in needless wars,” McLaughlin wrote in an email. “I am a strong supporter of Veterans for Peace and Iraq Vets Against the War.”

Since “Veterans for Peace” is based in St. Louis, MO, I am more than familiar with them.  They are ABSOLUTELY a Communist organization!  And, need I mention, the Tides Foundation gives them lots of money?

As for the “Iraq Vets Against the War,” they are yet another Left Wing organization.

So, what McLaughlin is in fact saying is that she is a “strong supporter” of the Communist Left Wing anti-military establishment, and that is the reason why she won’t be honoring our fighting men and women on Veteran’s Day.

The Occupy rally, which organizers are calling a “speak out,” is scheduled for 11 a.m. That is the same time as the Veterans Day events, which are always held at the eleventh hour on the 11th day of November to commemorate the end of World War I.

Jeff Rubin, who organizes Pinole’s Veterans Day memorial, denounced McLaughlin’s choice and criticized an email blast she sent over the weekend urging residents to attend the rally with her.

“She has very little respect for the country and traditions,” Rubin said. “Everything with her is political. I think the day was picked on purpose.”

McLaughlin did not call the rally and does not know why organizers chose the date. Rubin notes that she is closely associated with the Richmond Progressive Alliance, which organized the event with a coalition of local activists.

“As mayor, she has a responsibility to everyone in our community,” Rubin said. “Not only the disenfranchised and the unemployed, but to the veterans as well.”

Michael Klasno, director of Gold Star Dads of America, said that McLaughlin’s actions are a “slap in the face” to veterans and to grieving parents like himself.

“You don’t blow off the veterans of the United States for anybody, and you certainly don’t blow if off for Occupy Wall Street,” he said. “As somebody who’s paid the ultimate sacrifice, that to me is beyond the pale.”

McLaughlin said exercising freedom is respectful of veterans.

“I think a good way to show respect for our veterans is to put all our energy into promoting the values that veterans fought for and some of them died for.”

Other elected leaders such as Councilman Tom Butt and Supervisor John Gioia are promoting the Veterans Day salute.

McLaughlin has participated in the city’s two previous Occupy rallies.

Whenever I buy anything anymore I check out where the company is located that made the goods I want to buy. If I find that the company is located in one of these areas I go somewhere else. I’m willing to spend a little more just to avoid doing business with them. I basically ignore them, pretend that they don’t even exist. Attention is what they want more than anything and when you ignore them they become enraged. Try an experiment, go into one of these places letting them think you are a reporter and they will gather around you perhaps verbally assaulting you. Then try doing the same thing only when they gather around you move off as if they don’t exist. And then watch out cause that will cause them to explode. The only thing they hate worse than media types is being ignored by media types. LOL

I am part of the BBA, boycott the bay area.

    – They fought for freedoms, including that of free speech; some died.

    – The others, using free speech, protested against those who died so that they would have free speech.

    – One day, the ideals of the ‘others’ came in to fruition, and there was no more war, as a new system ruled the world.

    – Others wanted to speak of what was wrong with this new system and the deplorable human rights issues that were occurring, but they could not speak out –

There was no more free speech.

    Many died.

If An American wants to eat so much they become overweight I consider that none of my business. If an American wants eat so much that they become overweight and then they demand that the rest of us spread the wealth around I then consider it my business. If Americans want to bitterly cling to their Fat Burger and Fries that’s ok as long as they don’t go around demanding that the rest of us leave a smaller carbon footprint.
