Connecticut School Massacre – Open Thread

Thought I’d give everyone a place to post links and chit-chat about the shooting.

Personally, I think if schools allowed teachers to carry guns, this wouldn’t have escalated into a massacre.  But, I digress.  Now is not the time.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends who have lost loved ones.  Having lost a child before, I can certainly empathize with what the parents are going through.

May God be of comfort to them.

  1. I am reminded of 2 Timothy 3:1-4…

We live in Perilous times. Times of Natural disasters, man made disasters and much more.

I am sorry for the children murdered by those rebellous fools! Those children of satan who murder children by guns or abortions…

The controlled media does not report this right away, but history has demonstrated over and over a link between such senseless acts of violence and ssri anti-depressants. Harris, of the Columbine school shooting, was eventually linked to an ssri, but that did not make the news.

BTW, in China today, a man slashed 22 people with a knife outside of a school. You dont need a gun to kill large numbers of people. Just ask a terrorist.

  3. Leatherneck Says:

The children deserved better security like the teachers being armed.

May G-d come back quickly. Even so, not my will, but G-d’s will.

  4. Big Frank Says:

May God rest their souls and bring comfort to their families and the community.

This is supposedly from Morgan Freeman, I have not yet been able to confirm this but it so true……

“Morgan Freeman’s brilliant take on what happened yesterday :

“You want to know why. This may sound cynical, but here’s why.

It’s because of the way the media reports it. Flip on the news and watch how we treat the Batman theater shooter and the Oregon mall shooter like celebrities. Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris are household names, but do you know the name of a single *victim* of Columbine? Disturbed
people who would otherwise just off themselves in their basements see the news and want to top it by doing something worse, and going out in a memorable way. Why a grade school? Why children? Because he’ll be remembered as a horrible monster, instead of a sad nobody.

CNN’s article says that if the body count “holds up”, this will rank as the second deadliest shooting behind Virginia Tech, as if statistics somehow make one shooting worse than another. Then they post a video interview of third-graders for all the details of what they saw and heard while the shootings were happening. Fox, CNN and MSNBC News has plastered the killer’s face on all their reports for hours. Any articles or news stories yet that focus on the victims and ignore the killer’s identity? None that I’ve seen yet. Because they don’t sell. So congratulations, sensationalist media, you’ve just lit the fire for someone to top this and knock off a day care center or a maternity ward next.

You can help by forgetting you ever read this man’s name, and remembering the name of at least one victim. You can help by donating to mental health research instead of pointing to gun control as the problem. You can help by turning off the news.”

According to Yahoo news and Morgan Freeman’s publicist, the statement attributed to him are not his words. BUT one thing to remember with all this gun control hysteria is that Tim McVeigh did NOT use a gun, killed 168 innocent people, 19 were children under the age of 6 and injured over 680 people.
When will they call for the ban on fertilizer, diesel fuel and box trucks? Mentally ill and deranged people will murder with or without a gun.

No offence guys, but all those propositions to “allow teachers to carry weapons at schools” or to “arm teachers”, sound crazy. That means that American society is so unsafe and full of freaks, so that even elementary school teachers should bring guns to the classes? Is it a freaking Wild West? And do you guys really believe that 9 of a 10 teachers will be able to protect their students from a maniac like Lanza just by having a pistol in a purse or a desk drawer? That’s what she will do – take out a gun, take cover and make a hit right between the bastards eyes. Hell of a girl or an over weighted elder old virgin! Or there should be a compulsory training with exams for teachers in handling and using guns prior to get authorization to teach?

Another question: should any stupid vagina like Lanza`s mother have a right to own and store in her house as many guns of any type and ammo as her silly brain desires? For what damn reason an ordinary person, who lives in a quiet neighborhood, needs a rifle and a crate full of bullets, unless he is a hunter? A small arm, like a pistol, with a couple of clips is not sufficient to provide security for your home? Where the heck you guys are going to shoot a rifle? Its efficient mainly in opened spaces. Do you live in Alaska wilderness or in post-nuclear Fallout 1-3 world? If you don’t feel like you have balls without shooting on weekends, go to a shooting gallery and make yourself feel like a suburbian commando. Boxing is all right too. It gives adrenaline.
Or you guys believe that America is on a threshold of a civil war or a wave of mutinies? You live in a police society, where everyone watches everyone, and the Big Brother is everywhere, and still demand your right to arm yourself to teeth. That’s pathetic.
Unless your country adopts gun and ammo restrictions, another Lanza will show up, but he will be more prepared to “go out in style”.

To start a revolution against the king of England sounded crazy to many colonists also. You can not legislate against mentally ill or deranged people, only law a biding citizens read a sign – no weapons allowed, and follow what the sign says. You can not post a policeman in every school or mall or church, there are not enough of them. Parents need to learn to be PARENTS not their children’s playmates. When the parents of one of the killers in columbine was asked if he ever went into his sons room and saw all the hate literature and weapons he stated ” no that was his sons room and he did not go in there” something about his child’s private space. WHAT AN IDIOT! When my children tried that same shit on me, I had a simple answer. That may be your room but it is in my house and I will go in to it whenever I want – end of conversation.

As far as arming teachers, that’s a great idea, BUT they must be trained, must know the law, must have practiced on the police firing range under police supervision and No .44 magnums. A .380 glock or beretta with hollow points not FMJ’s would work. You only need the principle, vice principal and one other teacher. I worked for very a short time as an armed security guard, believe me teachers are far more competent than some of the “rambo wantabes” I saw on the job.

Why Mrs. Lanza had 3 guns in her house, I don’t know she might have had only 1 for self defense and her son legally purchased the rest and kept them in his room and like the idiot in columbine never went into his room. As far as where are you going to shoot a rifle, there are many shooting ranges in new england and hunting is legal in every state.

As far as adopting restrictions on guns and ammo – I have no intention of being a buffalo in a barrel.
Crime is rampant in England. According to the English newspaper, The Telegraph, violent attacks, sexual offenses and car theft have all increased. Crime overall has increased 9.3%, domestic break-ins rose 7.9%, violence against people increased by 19%, sexual offences by 18.2%, car theft by 3.5%, and robberies by 14.5%. Even with all its gun control laws in effect gun violence is a major issue for England. Gun ownership was banned in 1996 following a shooting in Dunblane. According to England’s Internal Home Office Statistics, handgun crime is now at its highest since 1993. In an editorial to The Telegraph Simon Heffer makes my point. Gun control does not control criminals, it only strips law abiding citizens of the right to defend themselves. Subjects of her Royal Highness are sick and tired of being victims. Like the Home Office in England said “The Government did not believe that banning handguns by itself would eradicate gun crime…” So by disarming the citizens, what did they believe would happen? It’s open season on the man on the street. (news.telegraph.co.uk)
