NRA Speaks Up: Calls for Armed Policemen in Every School by January; Media Culpable for Violence

Well, if you aren’t going to arm the teachers, adding an armed police officer to every school is a good start.  However, I think the NRA is placing way too much trust in the government (i.e. – police) and not enough trust in the individual (i.e. – teachers):

NRA Calls for Armed Police in Every School, Blames Media as ‘Silent Enablers, if Not Complicit Co-Conspirators’ in Gun Violence

The National Rifle Association on Friday called on Congress to act immediately to place armed police officers in every school by the time students return to class in January.

Publicly addressing the media for the first time since last week’s horrific elementary school shooting in Newtown, Conn., NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre said the question is “how do we protect our children right now, starting today, in a way that we know works?”

“The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun,” he said. “Would you rather have your 911 call bring a good guy with a gun from a mile away, or a minute away?”

He said Congress must appropriate whatever funding is necessary to put armed security in every school in the country before students return from the holidays, and before “we engage in any lengthy debate over legislation, regulation or anything else.”

“If we truly cherish our kids more than our money, more than our celebrities, more than our sports stadiums, we must give them the greatest level of protection possible and that security is only available with properly trained armed good guys,” LaPierre said.

He also blamed the media as “silent enablers, if not complicit co-conspirators” when it comes to gun violence, saying there is a “national media machine” that rewards and gives wall-to-wall coverage of those who embark on violent shooting rampages and that “sells and sows violence against its own people” in the form of violent video games and gory blood-filled films.

All of the Libs and their lackeys in Hollywood and the MSM get their undies in a knot as soon as you mention any reference as to the violent content of the so called ‘entertainment’ products they distribute and sell. They cry ‘censorship and’ government interference of their free speech and expression. However they would in a hot second be 100% behind a total government confiscation of all guns. I’m not at all surprised the amount of money allegedly spent by the ‘gun lobby’ is chump change’ compared to the support that the Hollywood cabal of liberals earn and donate to leftist and very UnAmerican groups and causes. They are all for freedom, their own.

I saw a shirt that summoned up nice why we’re having all these shootings of late, where as in the past we didn’t have these mass killings but still had the guns to do them.

    The shirt read the following;

    Dear God,
Why do you allo so much violence sin our scholls?
    Signed a concerned student.

    Dear concerned student,
    I’m not allowed in schools.

I believe that states where and when the seed of this problem were planted.

AS I suspected Mr. Wayne LaPierre is being vilified, criticized, ostracized, and demonized by the MSM, especially the printed media. Both NYC tabloids are devoting multiple pages to a full blown character assassination the likes of which I would never expected. I am an NRA member and I am all for gun safety, ownership and keeping all of the Amendments to the Constitution just as they are. We all seem to have short memories when after Hurricane Katrina the Police and National Guard violated the rights of law biding citizens by seizing by force, bullying, and intimidation homeowners lawfully possessed firearms. After this warrantless seizure and violation of hundreds of citizens 2nd and 4th Amendment rights, their seized weapons were left to rust away in trailers. I dare say this IMHO in an indicator of things to come.

Maybe NRA Chief Executive Wayne La Pierre was right, but he didn’t go far enough: We may not only need armed guards at every school but also at every movie theater (gunman kills 12 at an Aurora, CO, movie theater); in every house of worship (gunman kills six at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin); at every McDonald’s (21 killed at a fast food restaurant in San Ysidro, CA); at every International House of Pancakes (four killed at a Carson City, NV, IHOP); at every hair and nail salon (gunman kills eight at a hair salon in Seal Beach, CA); at every nursing home (eight killed at a nursing home in North Carolina); and at every post office (gunman kills 14 in an Oklahoma post office in 1986; gunman kills four in a Michigan post office in 1991; guman kills six at a California postal processing center in 2006) — Thanks to David Robb, Los Angeles

The media lied about assault weapons being used in this case.
It was not used at all.

No surprise here, this is a perfect example of a ‘rush to judgement’. Even when the true facts come out after the hysteria and 24/7 MSM ‘news. outlets have manipulated the facts to suit their agenda it is too late the false stories and biased reporting become ‘the truth’. Nothing else matters.

BTW many schools in Essex County NJ have had a police presence for some time in the High Schools. Bloomfield, E. Orange, Orange and Belleville to name a few. some have a Police desk in the school. As of Jan. 2 a Monmouth County town will place a officer on the School grounds during the day.

  8. Here in the Western Washington area we have had a police officer attached to various schools. But it depends on the City.
