Australian Ethicists Argue in Favor of Infanticide in the “Journal of Medical Ethics”

28 February, 2012

When one plays God, incongruously divining right from wrong, the konzentrationslagern surely loom on the horizon:

Ethicists Argue in Favor of ‘After-Birth Abortions‘ as Newborns ’Are Not Persons’

Liz Klimas – The Blaze

Two ethicists working with Australian universities argue in the latest online edition of the Journal of Medical Ethics that if abortion of a fetus is allowable, so to should be the termination of a newborn.

Alberto Giubilini with Monash University in Melbourne and Francesca Minerva at the Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics at the University of Melbourne write that in “circumstances occur[ing] after birth such that they would have justified abortion, what we call after-birth abortion should be permissible.”

The two are quick to note that they prefer the term “after-birth abortion“ as opposed to ”infanticide.” Why? Because it “[emphasizes] that the moral status of the individual killed is comparable with that of a fetus (on which ‘abortions’ in the traditional sense are performed) rather than to that of a child.” The authors also do not agree with the term euthanasia for this practice as the best interest of the person who would be killed is not necessarily the primary reason his or her life is being terminated. In other words, it may be in the parents’ best interest to terminate the life, not the newborns.

The circumstances, the authors state, where after-birth abortion should be considered acceptable include instances where the newborn would be putting the well-being of the family at risk, even if it had the potential for an “acceptable” life. The authors cite Downs Syndrome as an example, stating that while the quality of life of individuals with Downs is often reported as happy, “such children might be an unbearable burden on the family and on society as a whole, when the state economically provides for their care.”

This means a newborn whose family (or society) that could be socially, economically or psychologically burdened or damaged by the newborn should have the ability to seek out an after-birth abortion. They state that after-birth abortions are not preferable over early-term abortions of fetuses but should circumstances change with the family or the fetus in the womb, then they advocate that this option should be made available.

The authors go on to state that the moral status of a newborn is equivalent to a fetus in that it cannot be considered a person in the “morally relevant sense.” On this point, the authors write:

Both a fetus and a newborn certainly are human beings and potential persons, but neither is a ‘person’ in the sense of ‘subject of a moral right to life’. We take ‘person’ to mean an individual who is capable of attributing to her own existence some (at least) basic value such that being deprived of this existence represents a loss to her.

[…]

Merely being human is not in itself a reason for ascribing someone a right to life. Indeed, many humans are not considered subjects of a right to life: spare embryos where research on embryo stem cells is permitted, fetuses where abortion is permitted, criminals where capital punishment is legal.

Pedophilia Going Mainstream?

25 August, 2011

Of course it is.  It’s all part of an agenda via the homosexual/pedophile alliance that took place in the early 1970’s to change the laws and perceptions of Americans:

H/T – Memaw

Paving the Way for Condoning Child Rape
By Dr. Keith Ablow – August 25, 2011 – FoxNews.com

There were those who scoffed at my contention that Abercrombie and Fitch, the edgy retailer, was paving the way for mainstream pedophilia when it began marketing breast enhancing bikinis to girls as young as eight.

There were those who railed against my contention that the French edition of Vogue was kindling pedophilia and embracing it with its racy depictions of 10-year-old Thylane Lena-Rose Loubry-Blondeau in heavy makeup, a plunging neckline and stiletto heels.

There were others who suggested that I had a problem with breastfeeding, in general, when I took issue with The Breast Milk Baby, which encourages little girls to wear a vest that has flowers in place of larger nipples and nurse the doll.

Okay, personally, I don’t have a problem with that and think Dr. Ablow is overreacting about a doll that teaches girls how to breastfeed.  It isn’t the same thing as “sexualizing” young girls and I am shocked to hear Dr. Ablow has a problem with that.  After all, what is the purpose of giving young girls baby dolls to play with if not to teach them how to properly take care of their own children when they get older?  Breastfeeding is just another aspect of that preparatory role-playing;  After all, I don’t see Dr. Ablow complaining about baby dolls that teach young girls all about bottle-feeding—which, I might add, is certainly NOT the way nature [God Almighty] intended it to be.

But, now, there should be no doubt that our culture is poised to begin embracing pedophilia as a lifestyle choice, just like homosexuality. A group of psychiatrists and other mental health professionals called B4U-Act, which has representatives from Harvard and Johns Hopkins, gathered recently in Baltimore to organize their push to change the negative perception of pedophiles and encourage them to get help in a nonjudgmental environment.

Yup, homosexuals have already laid the foundations and created a road map to success for their fellow sexual deviants to follow.

While B4U-Act is not representative of mainstream psychiatry, and while the American Psychiatric Association (APA) did not participate in the group’s meeting, psychiatry has a history of caving into cultural pressure to stop defining controversial illnesses as pathological. You won’t even find ego-dystonic homosexuality—meaning, homosexual impulses that cause an individual to feel distressed and which that individual does not want to give into—in the DSM, anymore.

Some of the goals of B4U-Act are worthwhile. Encouraging pedophiles to seek psychiatric treatment to resist their pathological urges is a good thing, not a bad thing. I wish every pedophile would get help before ever hurting a child. And the group is absolutely right in asserting that some pedophiles—perhaps the vast majority of pedophiles—never actually do commit a crime. They live with their erotic desires for children without ever acting on them.

Dr. Fred Berlin, a Johns Hopkins psychiatrist, bonafide genius, and truly decent person, is quoted on the website of B4U-Act. His treatment protocols for sexual offenders and others with such impulses do indeed vastly reduce the likelihood that such individuals will hurt children, and his efforts are to be lauded.

But what the members of B4U-Act fail to realize is that there are some impulses worth repressing from consciousness—like the impulse to rape children. There are even thoughts worth repressing—like fantasies of having sex with children. When a society stigmatizes certain actions and thoughts—thereby driving them out of mainstream consciousness and into the shadows—that isn’t always a bad thing.

The group also fails to recognize that there are consequences to removing all moral judgment from a profession.  Psychiatry, for example, has become hostile to suggesting that alcoholics are actually choosing their drug over their families and jobs and other responsibilities—and that making that choice is morally reprehensible. Why isn’t it all right for psychiatrists to take a hard line against pedophilia and see it for what it is: a desire to violate and injure children that is both pathological and morally reprehensible and to be resisted by every means possible?

I’ve told more than one of my patients that his real diagnosis, given his behavior in embracing drugs, instead of his family or employment, shouldn’t be alcohol dependence or heroin dependence, but “scumbag.” And I then have quickly added that they can do better than that—that they must choose to do better than that, because, deep inside, they are good and decent and lovable. I tell them they can find the courage to do the right thing, instead of the wrong thing. Yes, I sometimes use the word “wrong.” I judge them. It helps.

I would not hesitate to tell a pedophile that his desires are to injure and torture a child—that they are morally wrong—and that it is his responsibility to ferret out the source of those destructive desires and extinguish them. I wouldn’t for a moment commiserate about how hard it is to live in a society that criminalizes the acts he is moved to commit.

Suggesting to pedophiles that their thoughts and impulses are “understandable” and that they won’t be judged by the members of B4U-Act is the kind of message that encourages them to push harder to change what they think of as unfair laws that keep them from their base desires.

I hate to say I told you so, but . . . well . . . OK, I won’t.

Mental Health “Professionals” Seeking to Remove Pedophilia From List of Mental Illnesses

15 August, 2011

Anyone who still thinks pedophiles and homosexuals haven’t been inexorably intertwined since day one when the push for “gay rights” began hasn’t been paying attention.   This is the exact same thing the queers did in the early 1970’s in order to “normalize” homosexuality.  Then, its onward towards changing the laws and minds—especially those of our children—into accepting these sexual perversions as normal.   From there, it’s just a small hop, skip, and jump into allowing marriages for these perverts under the auspices of “equal rights.”

Conference aims to normalize pedophilia
By John Rossomando – The Daily Caller

If a small group of psychiatrists and other mental health professionals have their way at a conference this week, pedophiles themselves could play a role in removing pedophilia from the American Psychiatric Association’s bible of mental illnesses — the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), set to undergo a significant revision by 2013.  Critics warn that their success could lead to the decriminalization of pedophilia.

The August 17 Baltimore conference is sponsored by B4U-ACT, a group of pro-pedophile mental health professionals and sympathetic activists.  According to the conference brochure, the event will examine “ways in which minor-attracted persons [pedophiles] can be involved in the DSM 5 revision process” and how the popular perceptions of pedophiles can be reframed to encourage tolerance.

Researchers from Harvard University, the Johns Hopkins University, the University of Louisville, and the University of Illinois will be among the panelists at the conference.

B4U-ACT has been active attacking the APA’s definition of pedophilia in the run up to the conference, denouncing its description of “minor-attracted persons” as “inaccurate” and “misleading” because the current DSM links pedophilia with criminality.

“It is based on data from prison studies, which completely ignore the existence of those who are law-abiding,” said Howard Kline, science director of B4U-ACT, in a July 25, 2011 press release. “The proposed new diagnostic criteria specify ages and frequencies with no scientific basis whatsoever.”

The press release announced a letter the group sent to the APA criticizing its approach, and inviting its leaders to participate in the August 17 conference. “The DSM should meet a higher standard than that,” Kline continued. “We can help them, because we are the people they are writing about.”

APA spokeswoman Erin Connors told The Daily Caller in an emailed statement that her organization was not participating in the conference and would not comment on its aims.

Libtard Teacher Hands Out Material Demonizing Christian Conservatives

6 April, 2010

This is why we have a Commie in the White House:

School Propaganda: A Warped Discussion Of Liberals vs Conservatives in High School Government Class

By Texas GOP Vote

Texas is fortunate enough to be a state in which the State Board of Education (SBOE) is elected, giving students’ parents and other tax-paying citizens a voice in the public educational system, as opposed to most other states. According to Phyllis Schafly,

In most states, the liberal education establishment enjoys total control over the state’s board of education, department of education and curriculum committees.

One of the duties of the Texas SBOE is to “designate and mandate instruction in the knowledge and skills that are essential to a well-balanced curriculum” and to deter such actions like the one exemplified by Schafly below:

For years, liberals have imposed their revisionist history on our nation’s public school students, expunging important facts and historic figures while loading the textbooks with liberal propaganda, distortions and cliches.

But how can the SBOE, or school for that matter, intercede when a teacher hands out teaching documents that do not comply with pre-approved teaching guidelines and doesn’t allow the papers to leave the classroom?

Roosevelt High School (NEISD) teacher Barbara Geerdes did just that when she passed out the handout, “Philosophical Differences Between Liberals and Conservatives,” (shown below) to her AP U.S. Government class.

A student in Barbara Geerdes’ AP Government class grew concerned over the teacher’s repeated politicization of the classroom and managed to get one of the documents out and brought it home, where he could show it to his parents. Geerdes’ handout made it to the State Republican Executive Committee’s quarterly meeting Saturday, March 28th, where it was discussed. According to a source that has recently followed up with the father of the student:

The Dean of Students responded that the teacher admitted that she has been distributing handouts all year without required pre-approval from the head of the social studies department. She has been giving these out to all of her classes, not just the AP class. She has always collected the handouts at the end of the class period and has never allowed the handouts to be taken home.

Just by simply glancing at the papers below, it becomes clear immediately just how biased they are with a picture of an angel next to a section discussing liberals and a picture of a devil next to a section discussing conservatives.

The handout starts off by saying, “Philosophical differences… separate liberals and conservatives. The greatest areas of disagreement concern human nature, reliance on tradition, and individual freedom.” The handout continues on, calling conservatives pessimists who think people are “tainted by original sin” and liberals optimists who think people are “basically good.” It says that liberals allow people a great amount of liberty, while conservatives feel people must be controlled, restrained, and guided for their own best interests. (What?!) Throughout the handout, “liberal” is likened with the word “constitutional” while “conservative” is likened with the word “authoritarian.” At the end of the discussion, there is a chart for students to fill in, reiterating the statements made about liberals and conservatives.

The statements are completely fallacious and clearly intended to deceive the students. What student would want to admit to being conservative after reading this? The handout had no author listed or any sources. Barbara Geerdes could very well have written the entire discussion herself. Furthermore, she knew that what she was doing was wrong- why else would she not allow the papers to be taken home?

The principal and Mrs. Geerdes have failed to respond to repeated attempts to contact them in order get their side of the story.

How can the Republican Party possibly compete with this kind of secretive indoctrination? Barbara Geerdes has been teaching for 16 years– who knows how many hundreds, or even thousands, of students she has brainwashed with this twisted liberal propaganda?! And how many other Barbara Geerdes-like teachers are out there?

We Could See Doctors Leaving in Droves

18 March, 2010

It doesn’t look pretty:

To Repeat: Doctors Could Hang It Up
Investors Business Daily

Health Overhaul: We were harshly criticized last September for an IBD/TIPP Poll that showed 45% of doctors would consider leaving medicine if a health care takeover passed. A new poll has vindicated our findings.

Our questionnaire went out Aug. 28 to some 25,600 doctors nationwide. Of that substantial sample, we got 1,476 responses. One hundred of those were retired, leaving 1,376.

At the time, virtually no one had stopped to ask doctors how they felt about the medical takeover being discussed in Congress. We thought it was vital to ask them, since any overhaul would rise or fall on its implementation by doctors themselves.

To say we were stunned with the results is an understatement.

Of the physicians queried, 45% said they’d consider closing their practice or retiring early if the overhaul then being considered were enacted. Also, 65% said they opposed the government’s attempts at taking over the health care system. Just 33% supported it.

Given that the White House and Congress both promised then — as they do now — to provide health care coverage for 31 million new patients while at the same time cutting costs from the $2.4 trillion a year we spend on medical care, we thought it was important to reveal that doctors wouldn’t go along with it.

What we found was that of the 800,000 physicians practicing in the U.S. in 2006, as many as 360,000 might leave the profession. So with the proposed overhaul, we’d be trying to cover 31 million more patients with up to 45% fewer doctors.

Impossible. It can’t be done.

What came after the Sept. 16 article in which we detailed our poll results was bizarre and in some ways disheartening. A number of liberal groups attacked us for telling the truth, hinting that we were lying, part of an ideological conspiracy or just incompetent.

“IBD/TIPP Doctors Poll Is Not Trustworthy,” ran the headline of one much-read piece on the FiveThirtyEight: Politics Done Right blog. The Huffington Post attacked the very integrity of our poll: “Investor’s Business Daily Publishes Ludicrous Poll Claiming 45% Of Doctors Would Quit Over Reform.”

Meanwhile, after the poll was aired on Fox News Channel, Media Matters, the liberal watchdog, went with the relatively sedate “Just in case you needed another reason not to listen to Investor’s Business Daily,” then called it “garbage.”

Others were far less kind, but because we’re circulated at a number of schools across the nation, we can’t reprint the comments here. Suffice to say that many of those comments lacked logical coherence and often contained language that failed to measure up to minimal standards of civil discourse and polite political debate.

Why bring all this back up? For no other reason than to note that a new poll completely vindicates our findings of last summer.

Marvel Comics Turns Tea Party Patriots into Racist Villains

9 February, 2010

Un-freakin’-believable!  Hey, you can’t make this stuff up!

Since Captain America is most noted for his fight against Nazism, I do believe that Marvel Comics is calling us Tea Party folks, “Nazis.”

Marvel Comics: Captain America Says Tea Parties Are Dangerous and Racist
Warner Todd Huston – Right Wing News

Marvel Comic’s Captain America is the mightiest soldier with the super powerful secret soldier formula that makes him a super man. Sadly, this muscle bound hero that took on the whole Nazi army during WWII seems to be afraid of those American people who’ve joined the Tea Party movement. Not only is Cappy quaking in his little red booties, but he’s sure that the Tea Party folks are dangerous racists, too.

Isn’t it wonderful that a decades old American comic book hero is now being used to turn readers against our very political system, being used to slander folks that are standing up for real American principles in real life — and one called “Captain America” at that?

In issue number 602 of Captain America, a new story line has begun called “Two Americas.” In it the current Captain (there have been a few of them, apparently) is on the trail of a faux Captain America that is mentally deranged and getting chummy with some white supremacist, anti-government, survivalists types going by the name of “the Watchdogs.” While investigating this subversive group, Captain America and his partner The Falcon — a black super hero — have decided to try and infiltrate the secretive organization.

In preparation for the infiltration, Marvel Comics depicts the two super heroes out of costume and observing from a rooftop a street filled with what can only be described as a Tea Party protest. The scene shows crowds of people in city streets carrying signs that say, “stop the socialists,” “tea bag libs before they tea bag you,” and “no to new taxes.” Naturally, the people in these crowds are depicted as being filled with nothing but white folks.

The black character asks the out of costume Captain, “What the hell is this?” And follows that with, “looks like some kind of anti-tax protest.” The Falcon character then snidely tells his partner the Captain, “So I guess this whole ‘hate the government’ vibe around here isn’t limited to the Watchdogs.”

The two then discuss their plan to infiltrate the subversive group that Marvel comics seems to be linking to the Tea Party movement. This discussion culminates in The Falcon wondering how a black man would do such a thing. “I don’t exactly see a black man from Harlem fitting in with a bunch of angry white folks,” he tells the incognito Captain America.

The Captain tells him, “no it’s perfect… this all fits right into my plan.” After this we find that the Captain’s plan is to send the black man into a redneck bar to pretend to be a black man working for the IRS and to get everyone all mad… because… well, you know that every white person is a racist that hates black civil servants, right?

Minnesota “Task Force” Recommends Teachers Immerse Themselves in a Liberal Agenda to Help Brainwash Children

30 December, 2009

TGUSA left a link to the following article.  It is, to say the least, an eye-opener:

Minnesota University Wants K-12 Teachers to Hate America
by Kyle Olson
We’re accustomed to strange political phenomena rising out of Minnesota.

motherland

We can accept the occasional Jesse Ventura or Al Franken winning statewide office, because the state’s voters obviously like to be different.

But we doubt even the most offbeat citizens of that state would approve of the new K-12 teacher education program that’s been proposed for the University of Minnesota’s Twin Cities campus.

While the rest of the nation is trying to force teachers to help our children reach their potential, the university’s College of Education and Human Development wants to make sure future teachers are more anti-American, so they can share that philosophy with their future students.

We couldn’t even begin to make something like this up.

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, College of Education officials recently established the “Race, Culture, Class and Gender Task Group.” It’s charged with helping to devise a new system for training prospective K-12 teachers, because current teachers lack “cultural competence,” a factor officials believe contributes to the poor performance of minority students.

The task force has issued its final report, which the group Foundation for Individual Rights in Education brought to light, and officials from the College of Education are expected to review its recommendations in January.

What’s the task force’s main recommendation? That new teachers be immersed in a liberal political agenda that’s highly critical of American social norms, particularly the notion that all people can positively influence their own destiny through hard work and determination.

The task force “recommended that aspiring teachers must repudiate the notion of the ‘American Dream’ and instead “must embrace  – and be prepared to teach our state’s kids – the task force’s own vision of America as an oppressive hellhole: racist, sexist and homophobic,” according to writer Katherine Kersten of the Star Tribune.

Your Children are Being Brainwashed to Become Eco-Spies and Terrorists

16 December, 2009

An excellent read:

H/T – Ciccio

Turning children into Orwellian eco-spies
Frank Furedi recalls being educated through fear in Stalinist Hungary, and is disturbed that the same tactics are now used by environmentalists.
Frank Furedi – Spiked-Online

There is a long and sordid tradition of trying to socialise children by scaring them. The aim of such socialisation-through-fear is twofold: firstly, to get children to conform to the scaremongers’ values; secondly, to use children to influence, or at least to contain, their parents’ behaviour.

When I was a schoolchild in Stalinist Hungary, we were frequently warned about the numerous threats facing our glorious regime. I also recall that we were encouraged to lecture our errant parents about the new wonderful values being promoted by our brave, wise leaders. The Big Brothers of the 1940s saw children as tools of moral blackmail and social control. Today, in the twenty-first century, scaremongers see children in much the same way, exploiting their natural concern with the wonders of life to promote a message of shrill climate alarmism.

If you want to know how it works, watch the official opening video of the Copenhagen summit on climate change:

Titled ‘Please Help The World’, the four-minute film opens with happy children laughing and playing on swings. A sudden outburst of rain forces them all to rush for cover. The message is clear: the climate threatens our way of life. It then cuts to a young girl who is anxiously watching one TV news broadcaster after another reporting on impending environmental catastrophes. Then we see the young girl tucked into bed, sweetly asleep as she embraces her toy polar bear… but suddenly we’re drawn into her nightmare. She’s on a parched and eerie landscape; she looks frightened and desolate; suddenly the dry earth cracks and she runs in terror towards the shelter of a distant solitary tree. She drops her toy polar bear in a newly formed chasm and yells and screams as she holds on to the tree for dear life. The video ends with groups of children pleading with us: ‘Please help the world.’ You get the picture.

Although this video is a product of the gathering at Copenhagen, it is typical of the kind of propaganda that is constantly directed at children these days. In a world where moral education seems to be exhausted, where teachers are reluctant to judge or to explain the difference between right and wrong, environmentalism has become one of the few values that educators feel comfortable with. Which is why environmentalism and its values now saturate the school curriculum in Britain and some other countries, too.

Study Finds that Children Reared by Gay Parents/Partners Have a Higher than Normal Incidence of Homosexuality

20 June, 2009

One word:  Duh!!!

Of course, the Lame Stream Media doesn’t want you to know anything about this:

FIRST-PERSON: Gay parents … gay children?
Kelly Boggs

ALEXANDRIA, La. (BP)–The results of a recently released study by a California psychologist are being all but ignored by the mainstream media. One possible motive for the lack of media attention is that psychologist Trayce L. Hansen’s research discovered that “children reared by openly homosexual parents are more likely to engage in homosexual behavior than children raised by others.”

According to Hansen, “Studies thus far find between 8% and 21% of homosexually parented children ultimately identify as non-heterosexual.” The most reliable studies indicate that approximately 2 percent of the population is non-heterosexual. Thus Hansen’s research has concluded, “[I]f these percentages continue to hold true, children of homosexuals have a 4 to 10 times greater likelihood of developing non-heterosexual preferences than other children.”

Hansen is a licensed psychologist with a clinic and forensic practice. She earned a Ph.D. from the California School of Professional Psychology located in San Diego.

While Hansen makes it clear that the research is not definitive, she indicates that it does suggest the conclusions concerning homosexual parenting are accurate.

It is worth noting that past studies suggesting possible “support” for a genetic or biological basis for homosexuality always indicated that the research was anything but definitive. That said, the media never questioned the veracity of the findings and, more times than not, reported them as factual. As a result, the theory that homosexuality is genetic is widely accepted as fact.

Hansen’s research seriously calls into question the theoretical conclusions of a genetic component being the cause for homosexuality.

If homosexual behavior was rooted in biology, one would expect the percentage of homosexuals in the general population, which is around 2 percent, to be reflected across the board in families. In other words, the incident of non-heterosexual children should be the same coming from a home with homosexual parents as it is in a home with heterosexual parents. According to Hansen’s finding, that is not the case.

“Islam is the Light” Returns in the Form of Nintendo Video Game

2 February, 2009

Still think all of this is just a coincidence?

Video game plays strange message
Mother: toy says ‘Islam is the light’
Jessica Hayes – WPRI

KNIGHTSVILLE, Ind. (WTHI) – Months ago, Rachel Jones was shocked to discover her 4-year-old’s baby doll seemed to have a hidden message: Islam is the light.

Imagine her surprise when a game for her 8-year-old daughter’s Nintendo DS had the same message.

Rachel said she bought the Nintendo game, Baby Pals, as a gift for her 8-year-old daughter after a good report card.

She had no idea the game also contained the hidden message “Islam is the light.”

“We were sitting in the kitchen, and she was playing it,” said Jones. “All of a sudden she looked at me, and I looked at her and she said, ‘Mom, I think my baby said something.’ And so I played it back, and it says ‘Islam is the light.'”

The message on the doll and in the Nintendo game sound exactly the same.

The Nintendo game has an “E” rating, which means it’s suitable for any age.

In a virtual reality setting, the child playing the game can feed the baby or teach it to crawl, among other things. It’s only when the child gives the baby a bath that it repeatedly seems to say “Islam is the light.”

Jones said she’s angry this is the second toy she’s had to take from her children.
