Women Arrested in Illinois for Refusing Smart Meters

25 January, 2013

Um…  I’m pretty sure the Deeds to both properties have “easement” clauses in them, in which, if you sign them, gives utility companies the legal means to trespass on your land.

However, that being said, it’s a fascist state which allows utility companies to team up with the police in order to arrests home owners who simply don’t want utility companies to install those new Snoop-o-Meters on their property.

After all, if a resident doesn’t want a Snoop-o-Meter, the power company can simply shut off the power to that residence.  Then, the homeowner can decide if they want to live on or off the grid.

Simple.

But, no.  Police are now going around arresting people just because the utility companies are on a power trip:

2 meter opponents arrested in Naperville: ‘A society of violating one another’
By Melissa Jenco – Chicago Tribune

Two vocal opponents of Naperville’s initiative to install wireless electric meters on homes were arrested after interfering with the installation process, according to city officials.

Police are accompanying crews this week as they install smart meters at homes that previously sent away installers.

“The previous installation attempts were met with some resistance and we wanted to ensure our employees’ safety,” City Manager Doug Krieger said.

Naperville has installed smart meters on 57,000 homes and is about 99 percent through with the process. Officials have said the project will make the electric system more reliable and efficient and reduce costs.

However, the Naperville Smart Meter Awareness group has expressed concerns over whether the wireless meters will affect health, security and privacy. The group has a federal lawsuit pending against the city.

The two women arrested Wednesday are leaders of the group.

Yup, the police and the utility companies are making an example out of them for the rest of the group.  That certainly reeks of fascism, if you ask me.

Malia “Kim” Bendis of the 2200 block of Mercer Court was charged with two misdemeanors — attempted eavesdropping and resisting a peace officer.

Jennifer Stahl of the 1400 block of Westglen Drive, received two ordinance violation citations — interfering with a police officer and preventing access to customer premises.

Stahl, who was released from custody about 4:30 p.m., said when she refused the smart meter, installers accompanied by police cut the bicycle lock she had placed on her fence and entered her backyard. She then stood in front of her electric meter and refused to move.

“It was forced on my house today,” she said. “It was really a violation. I violated something, but I’ve been violated too so I guess we’re now in a society of violating one another.”

[…]

Krieger defended the city moving forward with installation of the meters despite the objections from some homeowners.

“The city has always had and maintains the right to access our equipment, and today we were simply exercising that right,” he said.

And, the homeowners are simply exercising their CONSTITUTIONAL rights to privacy and protesting.  In a sane world, that would normally trump the city.  But, we aren’t living in a sane world, are we?  We’re now living in an Orwellian police state.  Welcome to the USSA, folks.

‘Abound Solar’ Under Investigation after Receiving Money from Obama’s Stinkulus Package and Going Bankrupt

8 October, 2012

As Romney so deftly said to Obama during the first  debate, “You don’t just pick the winners and losers, you pick the losers all right!”:

Abound Solar under investigation by Weld County district attorney; received $68 million stimulus
Abound Solar declared bankruptcy earlier this year
The Denver Channel ABC7 – By Marshall Zelinger

LONGMONT, Colo. – A bankrupt Longmont-based company that received $68 million in stimulus money is under investigation by the Weld County district attorney’s office.

7NEWS has confirmed Abound Solar is under investigation.

Abound made solar panels which it sold across the country, Europe and India. The Department of Energy approved nearly $370 million in federal stimulus money for Abound. The company received $68 million before payments were stopped in 2011.

Sources tell 7NEWS that the company’s finances are under scrutiny.

7NEWS obtained internal documents from 2012 that show orders for tens of thousands of replacement solar panels. The orders cite different reasons for the replacements including, “low performance,” “under performance” and “catastrophic failures.”

The orders are for replacements requested after the Department of Energy stopped stimulus money payments to Abound.

“These are solar panels we are now seeing reports that said they worked as long as you didn’t put them in the sun,” said Rep. Cory Gardner, R-Colo. “Now the question is did the (Department of Energy) — did they know something that the rest of should have known? Did Abound not tell the DOE something? These are questions that need to be answered.”

[…]

Yes.  Yes, these questions do indeed need to be answered, but don’t expect any help from the Lame Stream Media—or Steven Chu, for that matter…

Obama, Like Clinton in the 1990s, Using Space Systems/Loral to Once Again Export Technology to Communist China

23 July, 2012

I worked for Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) in the 1990s.  During that time, Bill Clinton and Bernard Schwartz (CEO of SS/L) cozied up to Communist China and allowed free access to the technology behind our satellites and launch vehicles.

On numerous occasions, I personally witnessed communist spies at SS/L taking copious notes concerning almost every aspect of our operations and technology.  I brought all of this to the attention of upper management, only to be given the cold shoulder and told to keep quiet—which I didn’t do.

After repeated attempts at bringing attention to these communist spies, I was given a ‘time out’ by being sent to a swing shift.  That was pretty much the nail in the coffin and I quit shortly thereafter.

Had SS/L’s management listened to me, they could have saved not only the United States of America from a massive transfer of space technology to the communists, but $14 million in penalties that they (SS/L) were eventually forced to pay.

Apparently, no one has learned their lessons and so, we are all doomed to repeat history:

OBAMA’S LOST IN SPACE
ADMINISTRATION APPROVES CONTROVERSIAL EXPORT LICENSE ALLOWING SENSITIVE SPACE TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER TO CHINA

BY: Bill Gertz – July 23, 2012 – FreeBeacon.com

The Obama administration recently notified Congress that it has agreed to license exports of sensitive U.S. space technology to China from a U.S. company that was fined in the past for illegally supplying space support that improved Chinese ballistic missiles.

The State Department’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, the unit that licenses exports of sensitive technology, notified House and Senate leaders on Wednesday of plans to go ahead with an export license for a deal between Space Systems/Loral and AsiaSat, a company owned in part by a Chinese state-run investment company linked to past satellite deals in the 1990s.

Additionally, U.S. government reports indicate that China’s People’s Liberation Army, which is currently engaged in a major space warfare program that involves anti-satellite missiles and lasers, used AsiaSat communications satellites in the past.

[…]

Documents obtained by the Free Beacon reveal that the Obama administration appeared to ignore two U.S. laws prohibiting space cooperation with China. They include sanctions against selling military goods to China imposed after the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre by Chinese military forces, and a 1999 law requiring all space exports to China to be treated as military transfers.

[…]

David S. Adams, assistant secretary of state for legislative affairs, stated in a July 18 letter to Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman Sen. John Kerry and House Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and their minority counterparts that unless Congress objects, the export license will be issued for the $263.4 million deal between Loral and Asia Satellite Telecommunications Co., Ltd (AsiaSat) and its Hong Kong representative, Barry Turner, a Canadian resident of Hong Kong. Thailand’s Thaicom Public Co., Ltd. also is part of the deal.

Congress has 28 days to decide whether or not to block the sale.

[…]

Loral spokeswoman Wendy Lewis said: “Space Systems/Loral is very rigorous in our compliance with export control regulations.”

Speaking from my own personal expertise in this matter:  Bullspit!  The communist Chinese spies will infest every aspect of the program, and then some!

According to U.S. officials, the export license will permit the transfer of what the congressional notification describes as “defense articles, including technical data, and defense services necessary for the post-preliminary design review design, manufacturing and delivery phases of AsiaSat 6 commercial communications satellite program.”

[…]

The license to AsiaSat is being carried out under the Arms Export Control Act, and is part of the Obama administration program of seeking a major loosening of export controls of sensitive technology.

[…]

Congressional investigators said both CITIC and AsiaSat were involved in the strategic compromise of U.S. missile technology that grew out of satellite launch and space cooperation between U.S. companies and China in the 1990s.

For example, a representative of CITIC, Wang Jun, met at the White House on Feb. 6, 1996—the same day that then-President Clinton approved the launch of four U.S. satellites on Chinese rockets.

Records at the time also revealed that Loral chairman Bernard L. Schwartz gave large donations to the Democratic Party, including $15,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee on Feb. 15, 1996—just over a week after Clinton approved the satellite launches in China. On Feb. 29, 1996, Schwartz gave $50,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

The satellite launches were the first step in the ill-fated technology transfer that made Chinese intercontinental ballistic missile more reliable.

Eight days after the satellite launches were approved, a Chinese launcher carrying a Loral satellite blew up on launch and destroyed a nearby Chinese village.

The launch failure investigation over the next several months led to the improper sharing of restricted U.S. missile technology.

[…]

The two companies involved in the illicit space cooperation were Loral Space and Communications Co. that owns Space Systems/Loral, and Hughes Electronics Corp. In 2002, Loral was fined $14 million for the illegal exports; Hughes was fined $32 million in 2003 for its role in the transfer. A Pentagon technology security report on the tech transfer concluded that “the significant benefits derived by China from these activities are likely to lead to improvements in the overall reliability of their launch vehicles [i.e., rockets] and ballistic missiles and in particular their guidance systems.”

Ruh Roh! US Manufacturing Industries Back in Recession

2 July, 2012

Might I suggest a new catch-phrase for Obama?

“Deterioration Summer”:

US manufacturing sector back in recession
Health check of US industry gives Barack Obama an election headache
Larry Elliott, economics editor – guardian.co.uk, Monday 2 July 2012

Barack Obama was given an election headache on Monday when the latest health check of US industry revealed that plunging order books sent the manufacturing sector back into recession territory last month.

In a surprise to Wall Street, the monthly snapshot from the Institute for Supply Management fell below the 50 level that separates contracting from expanding output for the first time in three years.

News that the index had dropped from 53.5 in May to 49.7 in June sent shares tumbling in New York and prompted speculation that the US Federal Reserve might step in with fresh measures to boost flagging demand.

[…]

The decline in June was largely the result of sharply weaker order books for US manufacturers – a hint that production will remain at low levels over the months to come.

Obama’s War on American Energy Continues Unabated

29 June, 2012

While we were all distracted yesterday, Obama was stealthily working to continue the destruction of America.

Basically, Obama has rolled back Bush’s lifting of the continental shelf drilling moratorium:

IER Statement on Obama 5-year OCS Leasing Plan
Institute For Energy Research

WASHINGTON, D.C. — IER Senior Vice President Dan Kish released [yesterday] the following statement about the Obama administration’s proposed final plan for development of energy resources on the Outer Continental Shelf:

“President Obama’s offshore charade continues today with the formal announcement of the 2012-2017 leasing plan for the outer continental shelf. With this plan, the administration reinstates the 27 year moratorium that was lifted in 2008, and turns its back on potentially enormous energy resources that could provide jobs and energy security for America. For more than three years, the Obama administration has consistently reversed bipartisan efforts to open America’s vast offshore resources for energy development.

“The president has cancelled lease sales, delayed others, and imposed a unilateral executive embargo on the oil resources that our most promising public lands could provide. With 98 percent of the U.S. offshore currently unleased for energy exploration, Secretary Salazar has finalized this plan to continue the administration’s war against affordable energy. In the end, Americans will pay more for the energy they need.

“While President Obama and Interior Secretary Salazar claim an ‘all of the above’ energy strategy, today’s announced plan continues to give the American people access to a mere fraction of the offshore resources they own. If not for this president and his policies, Americans could access more than 200 years of oil supply under our feet and off our shores.

“Millions of Americans are still looking for jobs. The Gulf Coast economy has yet to recover from President Obama’s moratorium on offshore drilling. President Obama has signaled today that he has no regard for our energy future, nor the jobs that a sensible, long-term plan for offshore development would create.”

If that isn’t enough to convince you that Obama is working overtime to destroy America before we kick him out of office, here’s a fairly recently released report on the coal burning power plants which are being systematically shut down by the EPA:

That’s 34.7 Gigawatts of energy America will no longer have!—Over 25 Gigawatts above the EPA’s original estimate of 9.5 Gigawatts.   And, it’s absolutely unfeasible to replace all that lost energy with just solar panels and wind turbines.

Thanks, Barack!

Another Recipient of Obama’s Green Stinkulus Package Has Executives Living High on the Hog While Company Self-Destructs

30 March, 2012

Behold, King Obama; the man with the anti-Midas touch!  (Everything he touches turns to crap):

President Obama speaks about business hirings and expanding production because of the Recovery Act investments in the Rose Garden at the White House in Washington, April 30, 2010. President of Itron Malcom Unsworth (L.), from Washington state and David Vieau (R.), president of A123 Systems from Massachusetts were also in attendance.

Eco-Scams Are as Easy as ‘A123’
Yet another “green energy” boondoggle from Obama’s Energy Department.
By Michelle Malkin- NRO

While President Obama was busy lambasting Big Oil tax breaks on Thursday, yet another of his environmental-welfare recipients (the very kind he wants to redistribute oil subsidies to) was teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. Who needs to win the Mega Millions lottery? Start a pie-in-the-sky eco-boondoggle, and a half-billion-dollar jackpot ripe for squandering is all yours!

The Solyndra of the week is A123 Systems, an electric-vehicle battery company based in Massachusetts. The firm also has battery plants in Michigan, where former Democratic governor Jennifer Granholm once heralded A123 as a federal stimulus “success story.” Former House speaker Nancy Pelosi visited the company headquarters and hailed it as a “great example of how Recovery Act funding is helping American companies.” In addition to nearly $300 million in Obama Recovery Act funds, Granholm kicked in another $135 million in tax credits and subsidies to bribe the company to keep jobs in her state.

How’s the return on government investment? This green dud will have taxpayers seeing red. A123’s official company motto is “Power. Safety. Life.” But the firm’s reality is “Out of power. Endangering safety. Clinging to life.”

Earlier this week, the company announced a recall of malfunctioning battery packs manufactured in Livonia, Mich. A123 makes products for Fisker, Chevrolet, and BMW electric cars. Consumer Reports flagged the potentially hazardous defect caused by faulty calibration earlier this month. The recall will cost upward of $55 million.

A Deutsche Bank analyst wrote:

“We no longer have enough confidence that [A123] can raise sufficient capital (without massive equity dilution) and/or continue to augment their book to future business. Recent quality issues may lead to concerns over [A123’s] ability to manufacture with quality at high volumes, potentially leading to customer defections or at least difficulty in procuring new contracts.”

When it rains, it pours. The dead-battery debacle follows news of 125 layoffs in November due to diminished vehicle production by top customer Fisker Auto. That troubled company (into which A123 has itself dumped $20.5 million of stock equity and cash) admitted faulty-wiring problems with its electric cars.

While Michigan workers lost their jobs, Massachusetts executives burned through $155 million in cash this year and the company stock plummeted to just over $1.00. A123 lost a net $172 million over the first three quarters of 2011 and has yet to see a profit. Like Solyndra’s top brass, A123 managers have been living high on the hog and partying it up with Democratic-party bigwigs.

Obama Owes President Hayes and the Republicans an Apology!

16 March, 2012

It’s one thing to perpetuate a false quote in order to joke about yourself, as President Reagan famously did, but it’s a whole ‘nother kettle of fish to perpetuate that same false quote just to make your opposition’s party look like a bunch of backward thinking retards for not embracing your “progressive” commie environmentalism! – Which, if you really think about it, would have you and I living out the rest of our lives in a cave while wearing loincloths made of hemp!

Considering that Obama has the entire Internet, along with the Library of Congress and a plethora of historians at his disposal, you would think that he would take advantage of them.  But, sadly, no.

Obviously, Obama has his head up shoved so far up his rear that he is suffering from an interminable case of cerebral hypoxia!

Anyway, for some reason, Obama’s misquote and subsequent pomposity has me really pissed off.  I figure that if Obama can go all around the world apologizing for America’s history, the least he could do is get our history right!

Furthermore, since he’s such an apologist, you would think that he would jump at the chance to apologize to Hayes and the Republicans for being such a pompous commie retard.  But, sadly, no.

Heck, even his sycophants over at the Washington Post are giving him four Pinocchios for this one!:

Obama’s whopper about Rutherford B. Hayes and the telephone
Posted by Glenn Kessler – 03/16/2012 – WaPo

“Of course, we’ve heard this kind of thinking before.  If some of these folks were around when Columbus set sail, they must have been founding members of the Flat Earth Society.  … There always have been folks who are the naysayers and don’t believe in the future, and don’t believe in trying to do things differently.  One of my predecessors, Rutherford B. Hayes, reportedly said about the telephone, ‘It’s a great invention, but who would ever want to use one?’ That’s why he’s not on Mt. Rushmore because he’s looking backwards.  He’s not looking forwards.  He’s explaining why we can’t do something, instead of why we can do something.”

–President Obama, remarks on energy, Largo, Maryland, March 15, 2012

In a speech on energy Thursday, the president took aim at the “cynics and naysayers” who dismiss potential new sources of energy, such as wind and solar.  Leave aside the canard about most Europeans believing the earth was flat before Columbus—that’s an elementary-school tale with little basis in fact.

What about President Hayes? Was he really so dismissive about the invention of the telephone?

The Facts

Hayes, the nation’s 19th president, served only one term, 1877-1881, after a very close and disputed election that needed to be settled by a electoral commission.  (He went to bed thinking he had lost to Democrat Samuel Tilden.) He was a master politician who banned liquor from the White House for political purposes (and to curb boorish behavior by members of Congress).

The quote cited by Obama does exist on the Internet, but we would expect the White House staff to do better research than that. (This line was in the president’s prepared text, so it was not ad-libbed.) But the trouble is, historians say that there is no evidence Hayes ever said this. Not only that, contrary to Obama’s jab, Hayes was interested in new technology.

According to Ari Hoogenboom, who wrote the definite biography, “Rutherford B. Hayes: Warrior and President,” Hayes entertained Thomas A. Edison at the White House. Edison demonstrated the phonograph for the president. “He was hardly hostile to new inventions,” Higgenboom said.

Hayes, in fact, was such a technology buff that he installed the first telephone in the White House. A list of telephone subscribers published in the article “The Telephones Comes to Washington,” by Richard T. Loomis, shows that the White House was given the number “1.”

[…]

Nan Card, curator of manuscripts at the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center, in Fremont, Ohio, can pinpoint when Hayes first tried out the phone: June of 1877. Hayes, it turns out, kept 126 scrapbooks of newspaper articles that featured him, and on page 82 of the 111th scrapbook there was the following account from the June 29 edition of the Providence Journal.

The version of events certainly is different than Obama’s telling. We reprint the whole report below because it gives a real flavor of the moment. (more…)

Blogger Defeats TSA’s Backscatter Technology with Simple Trick

7 March, 2012

Yup.  The Backscatter machines are another useless waste of taxpayer money:

This video is here to demonstrate that the TSA’s insistence that the nude body scanner program is effective and necessary is nothing but a fraud, just like their claims that the program is safe (radiation what?) and non-invasive (nude pictures who?). The scanners are now effectively worthless, as anyone can beat them with virtually no effort. The TSA has been provided this video in advance of it being made public to give them an opportunity to turn off the scanners and revert to the metal detectors. I personally believe they now have no choice but to turn them off.

Please share this video with your family, friends, and most importantly, elected officials in federal government. Make sure they understand that your vote is contingent on them fixing the abuse that 200,000 passengers face from the TSA on a daily basis.

Another One of Obama’s Invisible Hole Cards, ‘Project Narwhal,’ Collects Data on Unsuspecting U.S. Citizens and Optimizes Campaign Strategy

16 February, 2012

Very creepy, Orwellianish type stuff brought to you courtesy of the Obamacommies:

Obama’s White Whale
How the campaign’s top-secret project Narwhal could change this race, and many to come.
By Sasha Issenberg – The Slate

On Jan. 22, a young woman in a socially conservative corner of southwestern Ohio received a blast email from Stephanie Cutter, a deputy campaign manager for Barack Obama. Years earlier, the young woman had registered for updates on Obama’s website, completing a form that asked for her email address and ZIP code. For a while, the emails she received from Obama and his Organizing for America apparatus were appeals to give money and sign petitions, and she responded to one that required that she provide her name. The emails kept on coming, rarely with anything an Obama supporter could disagree with, and certainly not the type of hard-edged political message that could scare one away.

But Cutter’s note was different. She boasted of a new administration rule that would require insurance plans to fully cover contraception as part of the president’s health care reform law, and encouraged her recipients to see the policy as reason to rally around Obama’s re-election. “Think about how different that is from what the candidates on the other side would do,” Cutter wrote. “Our opponents have been waging a war on women’s health—attempting to defund Planned Parenthood, overturn Roe v. Wade, and everything in between.”

It was a message that sat well with the young Ohioan who received it. She was single, liberal, sensitive to medical costs—but she had never told the campaign any of those things, and the one piece of information she had provided (her ZIP code) could easily mark her as the type of traditionalist Midwestern woman who would recoil at efforts to liberalize access to birth control. Indeed, she found it hard to believe that many other residents of her ZIP code would look as favorably upon a rallying cry to defend Planned Parenthood as she did.

Those who have worked with Obama’s data say that it is an email that would have never been sent in 2008. The campaign knew very little about the 13 million people who had registered for online updates, not even their age or gender or party registration. Without the ability to filter its recipients based on those criteria, the campaign stuck to safe topics for email blasts and reserved its sharp-edged messages for individual delivery by direct mail or phone call. In those channels, the campaign could be certain of the political identities of those it was reaching, because the recipients had been profiled based on hundreds of personal characteristics—enough to guarantee that each message was aimed at a receptive audience.

This year, however, as part of a project code-named Narwhal, Obama’s team is working to link once completely separate repositories of information so that every fact gathered about a voter is available to every arm of the campaign. Such information-sharing would allow the person who crafts a provocative email about contraception to send it only to women with whom canvassers have personally discussed reproductive views or whom data-mining targeters have pinpointed as likely to be friendly to Obama’s views on the issue.
