EPA Considering Ban on Lead Ammo

The EPA is just a bunch of hypocritical communists using the resources of the government against We The People in order to advance their neo-communist goals and consolidate power for their fellow travelers.

I’ll tell you what: I’ll support a ban on lead ammo when the EPA demonstrates that they are really serious about protecting wildlife and bans all those highly toxic, mercury-filled energy saver light bulbs that they are forcing all of us to use!

Until then, the EPA cans shove it where the sun don’t shine!

EPA Considering Ban on All Traditional Ammunition
ACT NOW!!

NEWTOWN, Conn –-(Ammoland.com)- All Gun Owners, Hunters and Shooters:

With the fall hunting season fast approaching, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under Lisa Jackson, who was responsible for banning bear hunting in New Jersey, is now considering a petition by the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) – a leading anti-hunting organization – to ban all traditional ammunition under the Toxic Substance Control Act of 1976, a law in which Congress expressly exempted ammunition.

If the EPA approves the petition, the result will be a total ban on all ammunition containing lead-core components, including hunting and target-shooting rounds. The EPA must decide to accept or reject this petition by November 1, 2010, the day before the midterm elections.

Today, the EPA has opened to public comment the CBD petition. The comment period ends on October 31, 2010.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) — the trade association for the firearms, ammunition, hunting and shooting sports industry – urges you to submit comment to the EPA opposing any ban on traditional ammunition. Remember, your right to choose the ammunition you hunt and shoot with is at stake.

The EPA has published the petition and relevant supplemental information as Docket ID: EPA-HQ-OPPT-2010-0681. If you would like to read the original petition and see the contents of this docket folder, please click here. In order to go directly to the ‘submit a comment’ page for this docket number, please click here.

NSSF urges you to stress the following in your opposition:

  • There is no scientific evidence that the use of traditional ammunition is having an adverse impact on wildlife populations.
  • Wildlife management is the proper jurisdiction of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services and the 50 state wildlife agencies.
  • A 2008 study by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on blood lead levels of North Dakota hunters confirmed that consuming game harvested with traditional ammunition does not pose a human health risk.
  • A ban on traditional ammunition would have a negative impact on wildlife conservation. The federal excise tax that manufacturers pay on the sale of the ammunition (11 percent) is a primary source of wildlife conservation funding. The bald eagle’s recovery, considered to be a great conservation success story, was made possible and funded by hunters using traditional ammunition – the very ammunition organizations like the CBD are now demonizing.
  • Recent statistics from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service show that from 1981 to 2006 the number of breeding pairs of bald eagles in the United States increased 724 percent. And much like the bald eagle, raptor populations throughout the United States are soaring.

Steps to take:

  1. Submit comment online to the EPA.
  2. Contact Lisa Jackson directly to voice your opposition to the ban:

Sample Letter———————————–

Dear Congressman / Senator:

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is considering banning all traditional ammunition — ammunition containing lead-core components. This is something that would affect all hunters, target shooters and law enforcement.

A petition filed with the EPA by several agenda-driven groups including the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD), erroneously claims that the use of traditional ammunition poses a danger to (1) wildlife, in particular raptors such as bald eagles, that may feed on entrails or unrecovered game left in the field and (2) that there is a human health risk from consuming game harvested using traditional ammunition. Also falsely alleged in the petition is that the use of traditional ammunition by hunters is inconsistent with the Toxic Substance Control Act of 1976, Congress expressly exempted ammunition from being regulated as a “toxic substance.”

As your constituent, I am urging you to do whatever you can to stop the EPA, which has no jurisdiction over such matters, from banning our ammunition. Please consider the following points:

*There is no scientific evidence that the use of traditional ammunition is having an adverse impact on wildlife populations.

*Wildlife management is the proper jurisdiction of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services and the 50 state wildlife agencies.

*A 2008 study by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on blood lead levels of North Dakota hunters confirmed that consuming game harvested with traditional ammunition does not pose a human health risk.

*A ban on traditional ammunition would have a negative impact on wildlife conservation.

*Recent statistics from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service show that from 1981 to 2006 the number of breeding pairs of bald eagles in the United States increased 724 percent. And much like the bald eagle, raptor populations throughout the United States are soaring.

Thank you for your time. I will be watching your actions on this matter closely.

  1. Well, I’m off to work again. Hopefully, I’ll get done early so that I can post some more news items in the afternoon.

You all have a blessed day.

    Cheers

Not long ago it was asbestos that was a concern but now the CFL debacle will make that and the anmmo thing look tiny in comparison. These libtards are doing things and not even considering the results of their actions. If you live in an area that is prone to earthquakes you are in an extra special dangerous situation. My guess would be an increase in birth defects and cancer. Yes, our dictatorial guvmint is literally trying to poison us. I would like to stick a CFL down their throats and step on it.

  3. tgusa Says:

Our guvmint might as well be representing the Chinese at this point. Of course they would never try telling the Chinese what to do regarding their 1950’s glowbull warming sci fi fantasy. Why not, because the Chinese would put em six feet under for attempting to pull this bs on them. But since many of these people, as Hans Boomberg sez, are muslims now they won’t need much stuff anyway, it’s all, haram.

  4. Big Frank Says:

A devious plot they can’t ban guns so they are attempting to ban most types of ammo or making it too expensive. This coupled with the ban on outdoor shooting ranges is just another attempt to deny the citizenry of their 2nd Amendment rights.

  5. Ronin Says:

The real goal is not to stop the use of lead; they want to limit the ownership and transfer of ammo. Wait until they decide every round must have a micro stamp and you will be able to sell every cartledge for a huge profit. We have seen how effective outlawing of drugs worked. The idiots in congress will make ol Ronin a rich man.

If the guvment is ever stupid enough to make a law outlawing guns, through fines, bans or whatever, people will make more, sell them and arm every gang banger they can find. After all, once you are a felon why not be an extraordinary one?

Trust me folks if you are stuck between giving up your guns to the police or going to jail-arm the gangs. There will not be any police or government after a few days and then you can then keep your guns.

Look at Mexico; the military and the police cannot handle a much smaller group of criminals. If the guvment forces you to choose sides, pick the one with a future.

    • islams not for me Says:

micro stamp? Sounds like the DNA code on the ammo of the judges from the movie Judge Dredd…

      • Ronin Says:

There are a couple of bills that call for micro stamps on ammo. The way things are going it will happen. Beating it just requires gun owners to trade ammo with random strangers. Once the boxes are empty and you hide your new ammo, repot the box stolen. Bury cops in paper work and let them hunt for your old stamped ammo.

Trust me if I really get mad I can come up with some mischievous ideas. The local cops I hang and shoot with all tell me to stop worrying they would quit in mass if ordered to seize guns. Still, prepare just in case.

  6. Bob Says:

More back door gun control; guns are just expensive paperweights without ammo. The recent scarcity in reloading components was also very concerning. Most people I know are REALLY stocked up now.

Sounds good Ronin, keep getting mad. we can have an ammo barter community. Same SN bullets in 10 or 12 different states might show these commie bastards how futile their stupid laws are.

  7. tgusa Says:

A bridge too far. FreeRepublic: EPA; We don’t have the authority to ban lead bullets. But don’t worry Ronin, they’ll be back. Like vampires, they won’t go away until we put a stake in their hearts.
