NJ Man Harassed By Police and Family Services Because He Posted a Photo of His Son with a Gun on FaceBook

We were sent the following email from one of our valued readers who found it over at Delaware Open Carry.   I haven’t been able to confirm the veracity of the story, but it sounds legit, so I thought I’d give it some further exposure.

Welcome to Amerikka, folks!:

NJ Police try to bully NJ man 2

The fight has officially been brought to my front door

Last night I was out with a buddy of mine. I got a text from my wife that the cops and dyfs [Division of Youth and Family Services] are at the house and they wanna check out my guns and needed me to open my safe.

I’m instantly on my way.

I get in contact with [E]van Nappen [a lawyer] on the way. I explain the situation. I walk in my house and hand the phone to the first cop I see. Then direct all of em outside.

Dyfs got a call because of a pic on my son holding a gun.

They wanted to look around and check all my guns out, make sure they were all registered.

Obviously that didn’t go well because I refused.

I had Nappen on speaker phone the entire time so they had to deal with both of us.

They kept trying to pressure me to open my safe.

They had no warrant, no charges, nothing. I didn’t budge.

I was told I was being “unreasonable” and that I was acting suspicious because I wouldn’t open my safe. Told me they were gonna get a search warrant.  Told em go ahead.

Nappen (my lawyer) asked me for the dyfs workers name. she wouldn’t give it.  [I] asked for credentials and she wouldn’t show em.  [I] tried to take a pic of her and she turned around real fast and walked away.

After a while of them threatening to take my kids, get warrants and intimidation they left. Empty handed and seeing nothing.

People it can happen that fast. Most people wouldn’t have stood up to them like I did.

This is a complete outrage. I hope he gets details of who sicced the DYFS on him and the name of the DYFS worker. She deserves to have her name spread all over the internet. and then tarred and feathered.

My my, how things have changed due to Political Correctness (i.e. Marxism), back in my youth we went shooting at Boy Scout Camp, the YMCA and other youth groups and were taught gun safety and proper handling of firearms. My sons went hunting in NJ with their cousins. BTW if anyone wants to do any research on the performance of DYFS in NJ IMHO they will discover an inept state agency which has failed many times in their mission to protect children from real harm.

I remember when I was a teenager, a long time ago, my entire family gathered around a large table with straw hats and a shotgun in each of our hands. Each of use even had a corn-cob pipe in our mouth. A picture was taken which was then framed. It was even suggested that the picture be put on greeting cards, but my father refused. It was meant to be a fun photograph, if you will. Today, if that same situation happened, it would be responded by all kinds of authority figures surrounding the house, probably a SWAT team, FBI, CIA, NSA, and DHS, not to mention Family Services. They would split up the family and send the parents to some sort of reeducation encampment. All in the name of safety.

I doubt you are worth the FBI’s time. Kids aren’t supposed to have guns its a law. Teach the kid safety yes please do. But get a BB gun until he can register. Or at least don’t take pictures of yourself breaking the law and post it on a social network site.

Meanwhile kids that are put in that situation will never trust an unfamiliar authority figure ever again. The authorities think they know how to raise kids better than we do as parents. That’s probably why we see so many kids shooting up schools these days, its them, the so-called authorities who are to blame!

The Sierra Boys Camp I went to back in the day would today be considered a terrorist training camp. The cabins were all named for famous American explorers and the counselors were in many cases veterans. Climbing, shooting, archery, ridin horse and backpacking you name it. Oh and, trampolines, trampolines! Can you imagine?

The camps founder was a veteran (Marine) and a former US gold medal Olympian and so they picked teams, split the camp in half during the last three days and we had our own Olympics, not everybody won! Sadly, they never let me and my brother on the same team! Dammit!

I remember one time where we were going pack outing above the treeline for several days and anyone could sign up and they did. It was hot, real hot, I kept thinking about water, water, Its friggin hot and its friggin steep and this pack is friggin heavy and I have no idea where we are going or how long it will take to get there. I kept hoping I don’t get thirsty, who knows when the next drinkin time is. Anyway we were climbing the first day and this kid behind me couldn’t get over a big rock, he looked as if he was going to die, so I reached out and said give me your pack.

Well the counselor behind me called out my name and I looked back at him and he sort of stealthily shook his head while giving me a don’t do that look on his face. At the time I thought, how mean, what an a******. But in the years since I have come to realize what the man was doing. The kid made it all the way through, who knows just how much that helped him on the way to success in others aspects of his life.
      He probably became a contender!

Note: our Governor Mr. C. Christie wants an investigation into the matter. I suspect this may have something to do with the upcoming election. IMHO little will change NJ has the most draconian gun laws in the US.Yes you can purchase them, but to transport them rifles, shotguns , and pistols must be unloaded, cased and in the trunk. A concealed carry permit is near impossible to obtain, there is no open carry. On top of that if you are defending your home and family with a firearm. in this bastion of liberal lunacy the perpetrators family can sue for injuries or wrongful death. In NJ as a victim you may come out of situation alive and end up dead broke.

We have taxation without representation which was a cause of the Revolutionary war. In the aftermath of that war individual states came together as a republic and each state selected representatives to represent the states citizens in congress. We were so concerned about not just representation (we did indeed have representation from the King, just not constitutional representation) but constitutional representation that we designed an oath that reps must recite stating that they will protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies both foreign and domestic.

Tax dollars from New Jersey help to fund 2nd amendment violations in Illinois. Tax dollars from Texas fund Second Amendment attacks in New Jersey. This is a direct assault on constitutional rights as well as an attack on not insignificant founding principles and law. This is an assault originating from citizens in one state but affecting citizens of other states. This is a declaration of war on other signee states, it effectively renders the Constitutional compact moot the contract voided.

All that we see occurring are figurative shots across our Constitutional Republics bow. So in my opinion the coming years the conflict, albeit hot or cold, will be a cross between the Revolution and taxation without constitutional representation and the Civil War, where two of the issues were states rights (under the constitution this time) and slavery. The Revolutionary Civil War is an apt description.

As crat pols love to cite, there are two Americas (four or five might be correct) Dividing the US in two is not sufficient to destroy the power of North American countries and I believe these people would destroy it, no, fracturing the country is the plan it has been all along. The Civil War was regional, the coming conflict will be a local affair for the most part.
So which America are you a part of brother, sister? All citizens need to ask themselves that question, and then answer it once and for all.

  6. Lokadottir Says:

Yes they should have gotten a warrant that was very wrong. However, look at the law, minors can’t have guns. So of course the laws getting involved and if they’re all registered and you technically broke a law is it not best to comply, show your registered guns, and say that law will not be broken again. If you look at it LEGALLY which authorities have to, both parties are in the wrong.

I was wondering if you ever considered changing the structure of your website?
Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better.
Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or two pictures.
Maybe you could space it out better?
