Two Buddhists and Muslim killed in Thailand’s un-restive south

18 November, 2008

I smell a revenge killing here but read it as written.

PATTANI, Thailand: Suspected militants shot dead a Muslim and two Buddhists in two separate incidents in Thailand’s far south, police said on Tuesday, the latest violence in a five-year separatist rebellion.

The 24-year-old Muslim was shot dead and his mother was injured as they rode a motorcycle to a rubber plantation in Pattani, one of three southern provinces roiled by violence that has killed 3,200 people since 2004.

In a nearby district, two Buddhist truck drivers were shot dead and mutilated by four unknown gunmen at a rubber factory, police said.

The killers sped away on two motorcycles with one of the victims’ amputated arms, police said.

If Republicans Want to Save Israel, They Should Just Give Up Trying to Win the Jewish Vote

18 November, 2008

An interesting analysis with some surprising conclusions:

THE TRAGIC PREDICTABILITY OF THE JEWISH VOTE
GrassTopsUSA Exclusive Commentary
By Don Feder

Back in the 1980s, during the euphoria of the Reagan-era, Neo-cons like Norman Podhoretz and Irving Kristol predicted a seismic shift in Jewish voting patterns.
Once American Jews discovered that voting Republican was crucial for the survival of the Jewish state, they’d naturally align themselves with the party that actually believes in national security, we were assured.

It never happened.

After this year’s election – in which Barack Hussein Obama got 77% of the Jewish vote – we can confidently say it never will. Once again, in 2008, most American Jews voted their religion – liberalism.

Some minorities have a clearer perception of where their interests lie. According to the American Muslim Task Force for Civil Rights and Elections, nearly 90% of Muslims voted for Obama, only 2% for McCain – smart Muslims, dumb Jews.

If there was ever a year in which Jews should have been forced to reconsider their robotic loyalty to the Democratic Party, 2008 was it.

The Democratic presidential candidate should have set off alarm bells in the head of the average Jewish voter – from his whack-job pastor’s anti-Israel ravings, to his multiple ties to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, to his Middle East donors, to his terrorist cheering section, to his refusal to condemn Jimmy Carter’s meeting with Hamas – Jews should have broken out in a cold sweat at the thought of this ideologue directing U.S. military and foreign policy.

That they didn’t reflects the triumph of the heart over the head.

It’s not that Jewish voters were unaware of the reality of Barack. The Republican Jewish Coalition spent beaucoup bucks broadcasting the facts through e-mailings to Jewish voters and ads in Jewish periodicals.  Jewish voters just didn’t care.

My friend Rabbi Aryeh Spero says roughly 40% of Jewish voters are intellectually tied to the left – marching in lockstep to the beat of MoveOn.org, the anti-war movement, George Soros, Barney Frank, etc.

Along with other dogmatic utopians, they actually believe that any enemies we have are of our own making, that America has generally been a force for oppression and exploitation in the world, that terrorism is born of poverty and despair (rather than a murderous fanaticism), that America must do perpetual penance for past mistakes, and that a Palestinian state will usher in the messianic age. I could go on, but it’s too depressing.

Another 25% Spero describes as “traditional, though not necessarily Orthodox. They take into account what’s best for America, Israel and Jewish survival.” They usually vote Republican.

The last 35% are not inveterate leftists. Intellectually, they may understand the dangers of voting for an Obama. But they are connected to the Democratic Party by an emotional umbilical cord. In the end, no matter how convincing the evidence or sound the reasoning, they’ll go with their hearts.

Hence, through a process of self-hypnosis, most Jews have programmed themselves to believe the impossible.

Vermont School at the Center of Pledge of Allegiance Controversy

18 November, 2008

This is only an issue because of a Liberal Supreme Court ruling in 1943.

Oh, yes.  Franklin Roosevelt was a Libtard and stacked the Supreme Court with these idiots…   I’m confident that we can expect the same type of nonsense from Obama.

Pledge of Allegiance divides Vermont town
Burlington Free Press

WOODBURY — No one’s for sure when daily recitations of the Pledge of Allegiance fell by the wayside at Woodbury Elementary School.

But efforts to restore them have erupted into a bitter dispute in this tiny town, with school officials blocking the exercise from classrooms amid concerns that it holds nonparticipating children up to scorn.

Supporters say the classroom is the place for it, and the disagreement has fueled an increasingly acrimonious debate among the town’s 810 residents.

“The whole thing is tearing our community apart,” said Heather Lanphear, 39, the mother of a first-grade student.

Unlike other Pledge controversies, this one centers on how and where schoolchildren say it, not whether they should be allowed to.

In 1943, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that schoolchildren can opt out of reciting the Pledge for religious reasons.

Sixty-one years later, the court said a California father couldn’t challenge the Pledge of Allegiance, reversing a lower-court decision saying teacher-led Pledge recitals in public schools were unconstitutional. That case involved an atheist who didn’t want his third-grader to have to listen to the phrase “under God.”

But it didn’t rule on the constitutionality of compulsory recitation.

The brouhaha in the school began in September, when parent Ted Tedesco began circulating petitions calling for its return as a daily practice in the 19th-century schoolhouse, which has 55 children in grades kindergarten through six.

School officials agreed to resume the Pledge as a daily exercise, but not in the classroom.

“We don’t want to isolate children every day in their own classroom, or make them feel they’re different,” Principal Michaela Martin said.

Instead, starting last week, a sixth-grade student was assigned to go around to the four classrooms before classes started, gathering up anyone who wanted to say it and then walking them up creaky wooden steps to a second-floor gymnasium, where he led them in the Pledge.

About half the students chose to participate, Martin said.

How Obama Got Elected

18 November, 2008

Oh, this is much worse than the Howard Stern interview with Obama supporters in Harlem.  These dead-heads actually voted!

Crossposted from HowObamaGotElected

On November 4th, 2008 millions of Americans were shocked that a man of Barack Obama’s limited experience, extreme liberal positions and radical political alliances could be elected President of the United States. For many of these Americans, the explanation was rather simple… the news media, completely enamored with Obama, simply refused to do their job.

On Election day twelve Obama voters were interviewed extensively right after they voted to learn how the news media impacted their knowledge of what occurred during the campaign. These voters were chosen for their apparent intelligence/verbal abilities and willingness to express their opinions to a large audience. The rather shocking video below seeks to provide some insight into which information broke through the news media clutter and which did not.

All of this was conducted for a forthcoming documentary on how the news media impacted the 2008 election. Please get on our mailing list and return to this website in the coming months for more information on the film, “Media Malpractice… How Obama Got Elected”

Chinese Woman Facing Forced Abortion Flees, Recaptured, Could Occur Today

Beijing, China (LifeNews.com) — A Chinese woman who is six-months pregnant will likely face a forced abortion today after she escaped from the hospital where she is kept under guard. Arzigul Tursun fled from the Municipal Watergate Hospital but was later recaptured by local officials and could be forcibly aborted as soon as today.

The case is drawing international attention to how China strictly enforces its one-child family planning policy and uses forced abortions and sterilizations to do so.

It also highlights how incoming president Barack Obama is considering funding a United Nations agency that has been involved in promoting the coercive program.

Tursun is a Muslim woman who is 26 weeks into her pregnancy and the abortion would very likely cause her health problems. She already has two children and this is her third pregnancy, which violates the two-child exception to the policy some rural women and minorities are given.

Tursun’s husband told Radio Free Asia that his wife slipped away from the hospital when a guard went to get her dinner, but added she was later recaptured.

“Arzigul ran away while the village official who was guarding her went to get her dinner,” her husband said. “She left with her slippers, a shirt, and a sleeveless jacket. She didn’t take her bag or her other clothing.”

Tursun’s husband told RFA that Chinese officials threatened to take his home and property if he didn’t help divulge her location.

Montreal Jewish school firebomber gets 4-year sentence

18 November, 2008

Judge calls Molotov cocktail attack racist, hateful act of terrorismA Montreal man accused of firebombing a Jewish school was sentenced to four years in prison for what a judge described as a terrorist act.

Azim Ibragimov, 25, pleaded guilty earlier this year to firebombing the Skver-Toldos Orthodox Jewish Boys School in Outremont in 2006, and attempting to attack the Snowdon YM-YWHA the following year.

He also pleaded guilty to uttering threats in the form of letters that claimed the crimes were committed in the name of Islamic Jihad, a militant group that vows to destroy Israel and set up an Islamic Palestinian state.

The letters also hinted there were more incidents to come.

The arson attack was racist and hateful, and amounted to terrorism, Quebec Judge Gilles Cadieux said in his long ruling issued Monday at the Montreal courthouse.

Ibragimov has 10 months left to serve, given the time he has already spent in detention, and then will be on probation for three years. His defence lawyer had requested a suspended sentence.

The attack stoked fear in Montreal’s Jewish community, and the sentence reflects the seriousness of the crime, said Steven Slimovitch, legal counsel for B’nai Brith.

“There is clearly a message that Canada won’t stand for terrorist activities,” he said.

Ibragimov and Omar Bulphred were arrested in April 2007 after the incidents and have remained in detention since their arrests.

The Molotov cocktail attack caused significant physical damage to the Jewish school, but students and adults who had been in the building moments before had already left.

In the attempted attack on the YM-YWHA, Ibragimov left two propane canisters at the building’s entrance.

Bulphred has opted for a trial and is due back in court on Dec. 16.
