What’s there to improve?  The UK already submits to the followers of a murdering pedophile.

Police launch Muslim group

Muslim police officers have set up a group to help improve people’s understanding of Islam and to advance the needs of Muslim officers.

The Thames Valley Muslim Police Association is aimed at helping the force’s 60 Muslim staff and officers. It is, however, open to all members of the force, whether Muslim or not.

Pc Raja Yousaf, chairman of the association, said: “We hope it will help in the recruitment, retention and progression of Muslim police officers and staff, and strengthen the bridges between the police and local communities.

“It will also help cultivate a better understanding of Islam and Muslim culture within the force, which is bound to help neighbourhood policing teams as they engage with communities.”

Chief Supt Brendan O’Dowda, Oxfordshire’s police commander, spoke at the launch of the association on Monday.

He said: “I made the suggestion that on September 11, 2001, it wasn’t just a number of planes that were hijacked.

“I’m of the view Islam was hijacked– and the broader Muslim community.

[More BS.  If anything, it is the “moderate” Muslims who have hijacked Islam.]

“Being a Muslim police officer is difficult because there’s a lack of understanding within the community and within the force about what it’s like to be the victim of Islamophobia.”

[Typical.  Always playing the victim card to garner sympathy and to allow Islam free reign to implement Sharia Law…]

Florida: Burglar Introduced to Shotgun by Homeowner

25 February, 2009

The report says that no one was injured, but I have my doubts.   If the homeowner was using birdshot, as I suspect, the burglar probably got peppered pretty good before running off into the night.   Even if he didn’t get a few pellets lodged in him, one thing is for sure:  He ain’t coming back!

A resident on the 2100 block of Padlock Place heard what appeared to be someone breaking into a home earlier this morning. According to the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, the homeowner stated a burglar was attempting to break the glass on a window.

“There have been several burglaries in this area in recent weeks,” said Sgt. Tony Drzewiecki, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office. “We don’t know if this is related to those recent burglaries; however, we have uniformed deputies in the area now and we are working on any leads.”

Drzewiecki said the resident, armed with a shotgun, investigated the noise. Upon finding an unknown person breaking into the home, the owner fired a shot through the window and the suspect fled.

No one was hurt in the incident, and deputies are searching for the persons responsible for the break in.

Anyone who notices anything suspicious or has information about the spate of burglaries in the area has been encouraged to call the Leon County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 922-3300 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-8477.

Democratic Senator Criticizes Obama’s Power Grab

25 February, 2009

A “power grab” you say?  Gee, like none of us saw that coming!

Anyway, it’s nice to see at least one Democrat putting pressure on Obama, however, this criticism coming from Sen. Byrd is weak.  More needs to be done.

BTW – by “us,” I mean those of us who are paying attention and were warning American Citizens about such things during Obama’s campaign…   (Just thought I’d clarify that for Akira).

Byrd: Obama in power grab
Politico

Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.), the longest serving Democratic senator, is criticizing President Obama’s appointment of White House “czars” to oversee federal policy, saying these executive positions amount to a power grab by the executive branch.

In a letter to Obama on Wednesday, Byrd complained about Obama’s decision to create White House offices on health reform, urban affairs policy, and energy and climate change. Byrd said such positions “can threaten the Constitutional system of checks and balances. At the worst, White House staff have taken direction and control of programmatic areas that are the statutory responsibility of Senate-confirmed officials.”

While it’s rare for Byrd to criticize a president in his own party, Byrd is a stern constitutional scholar who has always stood up for the legislative branch in its role in checking the power of the White House. Byrd no longer holds the powerful Appropriations chairmanship, so his criticism does not carry as much weight these days. Byrd repeatedly clashed with the Bush administration over executive power, and it appears that he’s not limiting his criticism to Republican administrations.

Byrd also wants Obama to limit claims of executive privilege while also ensuring that thes White House czars don’t have authority over Cabinet officers confirmed by the Senate.

“As presidential assistants and advisers, these White House staffers are not accountable for their actions to the Congress, to cabinet officials, and to virtually anyone but the president,” Byrd wrote. “They rarely testify before congressional committees, and often shield the information and decision-making process behind the assertion of executive privilege. In too many instances, White House staff have been allowed to inhibit openness and transparency, and reduce accountability.”
