4 December, 2006

Okay, imagine that you’re hanging out in Afghanistan (the coordinates in the video indicate a location about 20 miles North of Kabul) spying on some local Taliban, when suddenly, something catches your eye…

Russian Elite at the Heart of Deteriorating U.S. Relations

4 December, 2006

More indications that the West is finally waking up to Cold War II:

The problem with diplomatic paranoia is not that someone is after you, but that you are unable to tell the difference between a real enemy and an imagined one.

Russian elite still see U.S. as bogeyman
Monday, Dec. 4, 2006
By ANDREI PIONTKOVSKY

Japan Times
WASHINGTON — An old saying in politics in Moscow is that relations between the United States and Russia are always better when a Republican rules in the White House. We are statesmen, and the Republicans are statesmen. Because we both believe in power, it is easy for the two of us to understand each other.

The problem with this saying is the paranoid mind-set behind it, for it implies that the nature of Russian-U.S. relations has not changed fundamentally since the Cold War’s end — that the animosities that exist between the two countries are those of two permanently implacable geopolitical opponents.

Russians, it seems, can only feel good about themselves if they are contesting with the world’s great power head to head. Indeed, Russian President Vladimir Putin considers the Soviet Union’s collapse “the largest geopolitical catastrophe of the 20th century.”

As a result of this mind-set, key elements in the Russian elite have tried mightily — and with some success, especially in recent years — to bring about a deterioration in Russian-U.S. relations. The Kremlin appears to be seeking systematically to obstruct the U.S., even when obstruction does not seem to be in Russia’s national interest. (more…)

Oh, No! Cluster Bombs On the Bubble, Again!

4 December, 2006

You see, it is stuff like this that makes it difficult to win the war on the Islamonazis. Why are we trying to fight a civilized war, when clearly uncivilized tactics are used against us? It is people like the hypocritical Dianne Feinstein whose policies will be the death of us all.

“Don’t Let THIS Happen To YOU-Ban Cluster Bombs”

Feinstein to introduce bill limiting cluster bomb use
Monday, December 04, 2006
Joshua Pantesco
[JURIST] US Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) [official website] has said she plans to introduce legislation in the Senate that would prevent the US military from using cluster bombs in civilian areas by cutting off federal funding for such weapons until the Defense Department “articulate[s] a new policy that will minimize civilian death and suffering from these weapons.” In an op-ed published in Monday’s Washington Times, Feinstein wrote:

Cluster bombs are intended for attacking large-scale enemy troop formations. They come apart in the air before making contact, dispersing between 200 and 400 small bomblets that can saturate a radius of 250 yards. The changing nature of warfare, though, has meant cluster bombs have been used against enemies in or near highly populated areas. So, all too often, cluster bombs critically injure or kill innocent victims instead of their intended military targets. (more…)

CAIR Attacks Dennis Prager’s Holocaust Councilship

4 December, 2006

Okay, am I the only one who sees the hypocrisy in CAIR’s concern over protecting the sacrosanctity of the members serving on the council for the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum?

This is only the beginning, folks, you just wait and see. Everytime Keith Ellison becomes the object of criticism in the media, you are going to see CAIR go on the offensive to quash our right to freedom of speech.

Group Requests Removal Of Ellison Critic
Dec 4, 2006
WCCO
(AP) WASHINGTON An Islamic civil rights group said Monday that a columnist who criticized Rep.-elect Keith Ellison’s decision to use the Quran during his ceremonial swearing-in should be removed from the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.

dennis-prager.jpgThe Council on American-Islamic Relations said the comments by Dennis Prager, a columnist and conservative talk radio host, displayed an intolerance toward Islam that make him an inappropriate person to serve on the council.

Ellison, D-Minn., is the first Muslim elected to Congress.

In his column last week, Prager wrote: “Insofar as a member of Congress taking an oath to serve America and uphold its values is concerned, America is interested in only one book, the Bible. If you are incapable of taking an oath on that book, don’t serve in Congress.”

The Holocaust Memorial Council oversees the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington.

“No one who holds such bigoted, intolerant and divisive views should be in a policymaking position at a taxpayer-funded institution that seeks to educate Americans about the destructive impact hatred has had, and continues to have, on every society,” CAIR’s executive director, Nihad Awad, wrote in a letter to the council’s chairman, Fred Zeidman.

Prager, Ellison and the Holocaust council did not immediately return phone messages Monday.

American Islamonazi Arrested in Egypt

This is a breaking story. I’ll keep an eye on it and update the story as soon as more becomes available:
American arrested in Egypt for allegedly plotting attacks

CAIRO, Egypt — Police have arrested an American, 11 Europeans and several others from Arab countries for allegedly plotting terrorist attacks in Middle Eastern countries including Iraq, the Interior Ministry said today.

The group was part of an Islamic militant terror cell that had adopted extremist ideas and were living in Egypt under the guise of studying Arabic and Islamic studies, the ministry said in a statement.

Along with the American, police arrested two Belgians, nine French and several others from Egypt and other Arab countries including Tunisia and Syria, the statement said.

The ministry did provide names or say how many Egyptians and Arabs were arrested. (more…)

I don’t know what Alexander Litvinenko was thinking on his death bed, but I guess he was just trying to cover all angles on that afterlife thing…

Alexander Litvinenko, the former Russian intelligence agent poisoned in London, requested before his death that he be buried according to Muslim tradition, his father said in an interview for the Kommersant daily newspaper published Monday. The former agent and critic of the Kremlin expressed the wish as he lay dying in his father’s arms, Valter Litvinenko said.

“He said I want to be buried according to Islamic tradition. I said okay son. It will be as you wish. We already have one Muslim in our family. The important thing is to believe in the Almighty. God is one,” he said in the interview. (more…)

Pakistani Officials Urge NATO to Accept the Taliban

4 December, 2006

There’s absolutely no way NATO is going to accept the Taliban! This is just wishful thinking on Pakistan’s part, and shows the extent of the fractures in Pakistan’s government.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Senior Pakistani officials are urging NATO countries to accept the Taliban and negotiate a series of regional peace agreements similar to those that Pakistan has reached in tribal areas along its border with Afghanistan.

khurshid-mahmud-kasuri.jpgPrior to last week’s NATO summit in Latvia, Pakistani Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri told foreign ministers from some NATO member nations that the Taliban was winning the war in Afghanistan and that NATO was bound to fail.

“Kasuri is basically asking NATO to surrender and to negotiate with the Taliban,” said one Western official who met the minister recently.

British Lt. Gen. David Richards, NATO’s force commander in Afghanistan, and Dutch Ambassador Daan Everts spent five days in Islamabad before the summit urging the Pakistani military to do more to rein in the Taliban, but left less than fully satisfied. (more…)

70 to 80 Taliban Fighters Killed in Afghanistan

4 December, 2006

Danish NATO forces aren’t just hunkering down during the cold winter in Afghanistan. They’re out there kicking some Taliban butt! And, don’t think that they aren’t kicking butt in their own country. Recently, Denmark has been crawling all over the Islamonazis in their midst.

At Least 70 Taliban Militants Killed Fighting in Afghanistan
Fox News
Monday, December 04, 2006

KABUL, Afghanistan — An estimated 70 to 80 Taliban militants were killed by NATO soldiers in fighting in southern Afghanistan after police told military authorities where insurgents had gathered, an official said Monday.

NATO soldiers suffered no casualties in the fighting in Helmand province that lasted into early Sunday, said Maj. Luke Knittig, the spokesman for NATO’s International Security Assistance Force.

The battle was in a remote location and there was no way to independently confirm NATO’s casualty figures, provided by the commander on the ground.

“He had a pretty good idea of what he was up against and a pretty good idea of what effect he had on them,” Knittig said.

The fighting was in the Musa Qala district of Helmand province but outside the town of Musa Qala, where British troops in October pulled out after an agreement with tribal elders that they would keep Taliban fighters out of town, Knittig said. (more…)
