Senate Rejects Carrying Concealed Weapons Across State Lines

22 July, 2009

UPDATED at the bottom:

“[…] the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

Yup, the Senate has proven once again that they could care less about the  Second Amendment!  Vote the bastards out!!!
Note:  I’m waiting for the government websites to update with the vote counts.  When I find out who voted against this, I will publish their names for you all.

Senate rejects pro-gun measure on concealed weapon
By JIM ABRAMS (AP) – via Google News

WASHINGTON — Gun control proponents scored a rare victory as the Senate rejected the carrying of concealed weapons across state lines.

The 58-39 vote Wednesday defeated a measure giving people with concealed weapons permits the right to carry their firearms into other states that have similar gun laws. Sixty votes were needed to approve the provision, an amendment to a defense spending bill.

It is an unusual setback for the gun rights side, which has been able to muster majorities of Republicans and pro-gun Democrats to move its agenda through both the Bush and Obama administrations. Opponents say the concealed weapon proposal would force states with tough gun laws to accept gun-carrying visitors from states with weaker laws.

UPDATE:  Here is the roll call for the Conceal/Carry vote on the Senate floor (I’ve highlighted the two Republican Turncoats in RED).  There were 58 Yes votes and only 39 No votes, however, it failed to reach the required 3/5ths (60 percent) majority to pass.  That’s means, it failed by only 1 vote!!!!!!!!!:

Conservative kiosk not allowed at mall
By BETH SHAYNE / NewsChannel 36

CONCORD, N.C. — “Impeach Obama.”

“Al Qaeda’s favorite days: 9/11/01 and 11/04/08.”

“Work Harder. Obama needs the money.”

The bumper stickers and posters sold at “Free Market Warrior” at Concord Mills are meant to be “biting,” the kiosk’s owner Loren Spivack said.

At least one passerby found them racist and bigoted, and took time to tell the mall in a letter and a letter to the editor of the Charlotte Observer.

Whatever your opinion, the fact is this: At the end of July, Free Market Warrior will not be allowed at Concord Mills Mall. The kiosk chain’s owner shared e-mail correspondence with NewsChannel 36 that explains that the mall management has decided that the items sold are not “neutral” enough. The lease will be allowed to expire July 31, 2009 without an option to renew.

Spivack, who first leased the space this spring, says the decision came as a shock to him. He says mall management seemed pleased with the kiosk just a few weeks ago.

“Nobody in that mall is selling anything from a conservative perspective. Plenty of people are selling things with a liberal perspective, with a pro-Obama perspective,” he said. “Given that we are in America and not North Korea, we probably should have some stuff on the other side.”

Spivack says he is careful not to sell things that personally attack a politician and wants a fair exchange of ideas. “The material that I sell is about politics and ideas,” he told Newschannel 36. “It’s all legitimate criticism.”

ObamaCare Tells America’s Seniors to “Drop Dead!”

22 July, 2009

Speaking on the House Floor this morning, Representative Ginny Brown-Waite (R) of Florida  says that the Democrat’s Government Health Care bill essentially tells America’s seniors to “drop dead.”

Furthermore, she says that the bill will cut $156 Billion from the Medicare Advantage Program and funnel it into ObamaCare.

Lou Dobbs Wonders Why Obama Won’t Show Us His Birth Certificate

22 July, 2009

Unlike the rest of the idiots at the Communist News Network, Lou Dobbs understands what many Americans have been wondering:  If Obama is a natural born citizen, then why doesn’t he just produce his vaulted Birth Certificate and lay to rest all of these supposed “conspiracies” surrounding his citizenship?  After all, We the People have the right to know!!!

The following clip is from yesterday’s show on CNN:

U.S. Government Declares War on Tennessee!

22 July, 2009

The totalitarian bastards in the U.S. government are certainly not happy about individual States exercising their rights provided for them under the 10th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.  So, it should come as no surprise that the Feds have decided to fire the first warning shot.

This one is aimed at Tennessee, but I expect similar letters to be sent out to the State of Montana and others who are currently engaged in re-affirming their Constitutional right to autonomy in matters not specifically prohibited by the U.S. Constitution.

Obviously, these cases will eventually move on to the Supreme Court for clarification.  Unfortunately, with Libtard “where does it say in the Constitution that you have a right to self-defense” Sotomayor’s butt soon to be warming a bench on the SCOTUS, it’s a fair bet that any ruling will favor an increasingly Totalitarian government…

Gore’s Hometown: Record Cold Breaks 1877 Becord ‘Set When Rutherford B. Hayes Was President’

22 July, 2009

Maybe El Goracle ran out of hot air while he was in Australia

Coolest July 21 recorded in Nashville as cool wave continues in Tenn.

By Associated Press – via WHNT
July 21, 2009

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Cool weather has broken a previous low temperature for July 21 in Nashville that was set when Rutherford B. Hayes was president.

When the temperature at the National Weather Service station dipped to 58 degrees at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, it wiped out the previous record low for the date of 60 degrees, which was set in 1877.

NWS forecaster Bobby Boyd noted it was the third consecutive morning when Nashville either tied or broke a daily low temperature record.

[…]

And, just so you know, we have had record breaking low-temperatures here in Missouri, lately.  Usually, by this time in July, the local swimming pool is jam-packed with kids enjoying a dip during summer vacation.  Not so, anymore…  In fact, it’s so cold here that only the most dedicated (insane?) of swimmers have used the local swimming pool during the past five or six days.

But, I’m sure El Goracle will heat things up again when he opens his mouth; or, at the very least, has James Hansen manipulate NASA’s climate data sets for him, yet again…
