Another One of Obama’s Invisible Hole Cards, ‘Project Narwhal,’ Collects Data on Unsuspecting U.S. Citizens and Optimizes Campaign Strategy

16 February, 2012

Very creepy, Orwellianish type stuff brought to you courtesy of the Obamacommies:

Obama’s White Whale
How the campaign’s top-secret project Narwhal could change this race, and many to come.
By Sasha Issenberg – The Slate

On Jan. 22, a young woman in a socially conservative corner of southwestern Ohio received a blast email from Stephanie Cutter, a deputy campaign manager for Barack Obama. Years earlier, the young woman had registered for updates on Obama’s website, completing a form that asked for her email address and ZIP code. For a while, the emails she received from Obama and his Organizing for America apparatus were appeals to give money and sign petitions, and she responded to one that required that she provide her name. The emails kept on coming, rarely with anything an Obama supporter could disagree with, and certainly not the type of hard-edged political message that could scare one away.

But Cutter’s note was different. She boasted of a new administration rule that would require insurance plans to fully cover contraception as part of the president’s health care reform law, and encouraged her recipients to see the policy as reason to rally around Obama’s re-election. “Think about how different that is from what the candidates on the other side would do,” Cutter wrote. “Our opponents have been waging a war on women’s health—attempting to defund Planned Parenthood, overturn Roe v. Wade, and everything in between.”

It was a message that sat well with the young Ohioan who received it. She was single, liberal, sensitive to medical costs—but she had never told the campaign any of those things, and the one piece of information she had provided (her ZIP code) could easily mark her as the type of traditionalist Midwestern woman who would recoil at efforts to liberalize access to birth control. Indeed, she found it hard to believe that many other residents of her ZIP code would look as favorably upon a rallying cry to defend Planned Parenthood as she did.

Those who have worked with Obama’s data say that it is an email that would have never been sent in 2008. The campaign knew very little about the 13 million people who had registered for online updates, not even their age or gender or party registration. Without the ability to filter its recipients based on those criteria, the campaign stuck to safe topics for email blasts and reserved its sharp-edged messages for individual delivery by direct mail or phone call. In those channels, the campaign could be certain of the political identities of those it was reaching, because the recipients had been profiled based on hundreds of personal characteristics—enough to guarantee that each message was aimed at a receptive audience.

This year, however, as part of a project code-named Narwhal, Obama’s team is working to link once completely separate repositories of information so that every fact gathered about a voter is available to every arm of the campaign. Such information-sharing would allow the person who crafts a provocative email about contraception to send it only to women with whom canvassers have personally discussed reproductive views or whom data-mining targeters have pinpointed as likely to be friendly to Obama’s views on the issue.

Think SOPA is Bad? Take a Look at the Treaty Obama Has Already Signed

26 January, 2012

And, to think, the Internet was suppose to be a place where you could exchange ideas and programs unfettered by your government:

Obama Signs Global Internet Treaty Worse Than SOPA

White House bypasses Senate to ink agreement that could allow Chinese companies to demand ISPs remove web content in US with no legal oversight.

Paul Joseph WatsonInfowars.comThursday, January 26, 2012

Months before the debate about Internet censorship raged as SOPA and PIPA dominated the concerns of web users, President Obama signed an international treaty that would allow companies in China or any other country in the world to demand ISPs remove web content in the US with no legal oversight whatsoever.

The Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement was signed by Obama on October 1 2011, yet is currently the subject of a White House petition demanding Senators be forced to ratify the treaty. The White House has circumvented the necessity to have the treaty confirmed by lawmakers by presenting it an as “executive agreement,” although legal scholars have highlighted the dubious nature of this characterization.

The hacktivist group Anonymous attacked and took offline the Federal Trade Commission’s website yesterday in protest against the treaty, which was also the subject of demonstrations across major cities in Poland, a country set to sign the agreement today.

Under the provisions of ACTA, copyright holders will be granted sweeping direct powers to demand ISPs remove material from the Internet on a whim. Whereas ISPs normally are only forced to remove content after a court order, all legal oversight will be abolished, a precedent that will apply globally, rendering the treaty worse in its potential scope for abuse than SOPA or PIPA.

A country known for its enforcement of harsh Internet censorship policies like China could demand under the treaty that an ISP in the United States remove content or terminate a website on its server altogether. As we have seen from the enforcement of similar copyright policies in the US, websites are sometimes targeted for no justifiable reason.

DHS Finally Admits it Erred in Shutting Down Website

9 December, 2011

And, folks, this is why we have a little thing embedded in the 5th Amendment called, “Due Process.”   Of course, when have Our Dark Overlords ever given a rat’s turd about the U.S. Constitution?:

DHS Shut Down Blog For A Year On False Pretenses
Homeland Security is seizing websites for “copyright infringement” with no evidence

Paul Joseph Watson

Friday, December 9, 2011

In a chilling illustration of how far Internet censorship has advanced, the Department of Homeland Security seized a popular music blog and shut down the website for over a year on charges it now admits were completely false.

The website in question – www.dajaz1.com – was not some obscure, dubious blog – it was a popular platform for DJ’s that was once featured on MTV.

“Around Thanksgiving 2010, the Department of Homeland Security seized more than 70 domains with no trial, accusing them of copyright infringement,” reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

Dajaz1.com was caught in the dragnet after DHS claimed four songs posted on the website were used without permission, when in fact the musicians and publicists concerned had sent the tracks directly to Dajaz1 with express authorization.

That didn’t stop Homeland Security from seizing and shutting down the blog for over a year, violating the law by refusing to tell its owner why the website was taken and subsequently missing the 90 day deadline for explaining why the owner should forfeit the property permanently.

“Or at least that’s what the owner assumed when he heard nothing. Then the court told him that the government got an extension.”

“But the owner couldn’t see the extension because all the filings in the case were sealed, and was not allowed to testify in court to ask for his property back, says TechDirt.”

The saga finally came to a close when the owner was handed back control of the website only yesterday.

The lesson to take from this is that Homeland Security can now just claim your website contains copyrighted material with no evidence whatsoever and seize it without any recourse.

Voice Analysis: Sharon Bialek is a Liar and Herman Cain Speaks the Truth!

10 November, 2011

My, my, my…  I think a lot of supposedly Conservative bloggers owe Mr. Cain a BIG apology for getting suckered by the Lame Stream Media into spreading false rumors and helping to destroy Herman Cain’s reputation:

Investigator: Herman Cain innocent of sexual advances

ATLANTA (CBS ATLANTA) –

Private investigator TJ Ward said presidential hopeful Herman Cain was not lying at a news conference on Tuesday in Phoenix.

Cain denied making any sexual actions towards Sharon Bialek and vowed to take a polygraph test if necessary to prove his innocence.

Cain has not taken a polygraph but Ward said he does have software that does something better.

Ward said the $15,000 software can detect lies in people’s voices.

CBS Atlanta’s Mike Paluska played Cain’s speech for Ward into the software and watched as it analyzed Cain’s every word.

If he is hiding something this thing would have spiked way down here,” said Ward. “He is being truthful, totally truthful. He is a man with integrity and he talked directly about not knowing any incident he is accused of.”

The software analyzes the stress level and other factors in your voice. During the speech, when Cain denied the claims, the lie detector read “low risk.” According to Ward, that means Cain is telling the truth.

During the section of Bialek’s news conference where she says, “He suddenly reached over put his hand on my leg under my skirt and reached for my genitals he also grabbed my head brought it towards his crotch.”

During the analysis of that section the software said “high risk statement.” Ward said that means she is not telling the truth about what happened.

“I don’t think she is fabricating her meetings,” said Ward. But, she is fabricating what transpired.”

Ward said nearly 70 law enforcement agencies nationwide use the voice software, including the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Ward said the technology is a scientific measure that law enforcement use as a tool to tell when someone is lying and that it has a 95 percent success rate.

After listening to Cain’s speech and analyzing it, Ward said there is no doubt, Cain is innocent.

“When he directly talks about the allegations against him there is no high risk,” said Ward. “It is low risk, which tells me he is being truthful in his conversations to the public.”

Our Dark Overlords Introduce Bill Which Bans Websites

28 October, 2011

Still think you are living in the land of the free?:

U.S. Government Seeks to Create Website Ban List
Written by Raven Clabough    –  TheNewAmerican

The U.S. House of Representatives recently introduced a “rogue websites” bill that has managed to attract bipartisan support even though it would force Internet Service Providers to create a list of banned websites and prevent users of those websites from accessing their sites. The list is all too similar to the “ban lists” that are found in China.

Breitbart.com reports: “US lawmakers introduced a bill on Wednesday that would give US authorities more tools to crack down on websites accused of piracy of movies, television shows and music and the sale of counterfeit goods.”

Entitled the Stop Online Piracy Act, the bill reads:

A service provider shall take technically feasible and reasonable measures designed to prevent access by its subscribers located within the United States to the foreign infringing site (or portion thereof) that is subject to the order, including measures designed to prevent the domain name of the foreign infringing site (or portion thereof) from resolving to that domain name’s Internet Protocol address.

It is the House version of a bill that was introduced in the U.S. Senate earlier this year called the Theft of Intellectual Property Act or Protect IP Act.

While the touted focus of the bill is on foreign websites, it may just as easily be applied to all .com domains.

The very language of the bill indicates it is trying to empower the federal government to ban websites.

According to journalist Paul Joseph Watson, “The only difference between this system and the draconian measures currently in place in countries like Iran, China and North Korea, is that the ISP’s would be mandated to enforce the ban list, rather than the websites being blocked via a centralized government hub.”

The Center for Democracy and Technology issued a statement indicating that the House version of the bill “includes the most controversial parts of the Senate’s Protect IP Act, but radically expands the scope.” It adds, “Any website that features user-generated content or that enables cloud-based data storage could end up in its crosshairs.”

Obama and the Router-in-Chief

9 August, 2011

By Dr. Bulldog

Okay.  In case you were wondering where I have been lately, my wireless “router-in-chief” apparently couldn’t stomach my mordacious criticism of Our Dark Overlord any longer and decided to just stop working while still collecting a paycheck, or something like that.  Naturally, it took me a while to troubleshoot the problem as the router was fairly new and I couldn’t  quite wrap my head around the fact that such a young, good-looking  router with so much to live for and so much to offer society had suddenly decided to just check out.

Mind you, my router didn’t just come into the office one day and announce to me that it had decided to quit working and I could just kiss its @ss.  Nooooo, I had to suss out that little factoid on my own.

You see, the router would show up for work and all, but the job wasn’t getting done.  Every time I needed the router to connect to the internet, it would go on a vacation, or go golfing, or something.  I would log into the router ask it how it was doing and it would tell me that everything was hunky-dory and that it wasn’t its fault that I couldn’t stay connected to the internet for more than a minute or two.  Nope, it just kept blaming the internet provider for being the cause of the network connectivity problems.  So, I checked with the internet provider.  The internet provider in turn checked out its equipment and then “politely” said, “No, the problem is on YOUR end!”

So, after I got off the phone with the internet provider, I asked the router again how it was doing and if it was having any problems today?  True to form, it stuck to its guns and repeated the lie that everything was hunky-dory  and that the problem wasn’t its fault.  After letting the router-in-chief ramble on and on for a while, I decided to inform the router that the internet provider had said that the problem wasn’t on their end of things, but was most likely something on my end of the equation.  To which the router stuttered a bit, shifted gears, and promptly started blaming the modem for being the cause of ALL the problems.

Now, mind you, the humble modem is a difficult employee to talk to.  You see, the modem is set in “bridged” mode and, as such, has taken a vow of silence when I try to talk to it using the wireless router as the mediator.  That is to say, my modem humbly sits there; transparently and efficiently doing its job without nary a peep as it passes messages and packets between the router-in-chief  and the internet provider.  In fact, that little son-of-a-beach, b@st@rd router-in-chief often takes much of the credit for the modem’s hard, diligent work and habitually pretends to not know who I am talking about when I ask it if I can chat with the modem.  Needless to say,  asking the router to let me talk to the modem only ends in frustration.   So, I pulled some strings and re-wired a bunch of cables in order to set up a little “sit-down” chat with the modem.  When I was finally able to talk to the modem, the modem told me that it was doing its job as usual and didn’t know why the heck the router was so intent on blaming it for being the cause of the problem.  Coming out of the meeting with the modem, I finally came to grips with the reality that the wireless router was lying its @ss off and placing blame on others for its own incompetence and failure to perform the job it was hired to do!

Therefore, I had no choice but to “mutually” agree to fire the worthless wireless router for unmitigated incompetence and compulsive lying while blaming everyone else for problems it created.  I’m sure it will have a great time collecting a perpetually extended unemployment check, or something like that while it sits around doing nothing all day long.

Anyway, I had to juggle a few bills just to scrounge up some cash—which is no painless task considering that the cost of food and other essentials has been skyrocketing as of late—and then pour some precious fuel  into our hydrocarbon powered eco-vehicle in order to make a trip to one of the local stores to “hire” a new router.

After a slightly bumpy start in acclimating the new wireless router to its environment (the easier hardware manufacturers try to make the setup software for the average user, the more frustrating and time consuming it becomes for us computer nerds), things are shaping up and I’m back online!

I can only hope and pray that this new router will take its job seriously and remove that bad taste left in my mouth by the previous router-in-chief.

Obama’s Meddling With Internet Puts It Squarely In the Hands of Muzzie Censorship Nazis

4 January, 2011

I’m betting that one of the first shots fired by this new international consortium will be aimed at Robert Spencer’s “Jihad Watch” website.  Just a hunch.

Then, if they succeed, the rest of us will be summarily lined up and shot for daring to criticize their murderous, pedophile profligate:

Internet Divided
J. E. Dyer – 01.04.2011 – Commentary Magazine

Americans paid little attention in September 2009 when the Obama administration relinquished the traditional U.S. role in supervising policy for the global Internet. The eyes glaze over, after all, at the profusion of acronyms and the allusions to obscure functions in uninteresting federal agencies. When the U.S. Department of Commerce terminated its exclusive policy relationship with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the tech world was aflutter, but the event seemed to have no impact on the average American’s interactions with the Web.

That is going to change. ICANN is now supervised by an international body, the Government Advisory Council, in which the U.S. has no veto or even any institutionalized leadership role. We have voting representation in the body today, and some unique legacy influence, but there is no guarantee we will always have that. In the planned restructuring of ICANN’s governing board, the U.S. faces being relegated to a defined region of the globe in which we will be one of dozens of European and North American nations vying for the region’s five voting slots. Meanwhile, another newly defined “Arab States” region will bestow five voting slots on a bloc whose membership is, in effect, the Arab League.

The Arab League has already achieved policy triumphs in ICANN deliberations, as summarized in December at the Lawfare Project website. The record is unpromising: if Western governments can’t hang tough on some of the very basic concepts they have waffled on, there is reason to doubt their performance in other matters. We can have no doubts, however, about the likelihood of the Arab states arguing for censorship and illiberality in Internet policy.

Christopher Horner: NASA’s Temperature Data Worse Than CRU’s

30 March, 2010

Not surprising since NASA’s climate charlatan, James Hansen,  has been a busy little Ecoturd; manipulating climate data for years to support his agenda:

Maps from NASA's GISS reveal temperatures where no data exist, thanks to mathematical extrapolation of data.

NASA Data Worse Than Climate-Gate Data, Space Agency Admits
By Blake Snow – FOXNews.com

NASA was able to put a man on the moon, but the space agency can’t tell you what the temperature was when it did. By its own admission, NASA’s temperature records are in even worse shape than the besmirched Climate-gate data.

E-mail messages obtained by a Freedom of Information Act request reveal that NASA concluded that its own climate findings were inferior to those maintained by both the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) — the scandalized source of the leaked Climate-gate e-mails — and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s National Climatic Data Center.

The e-mails from 2007 reveal that when a USA Today reporter asked if NASA’s data “was more accurate” than other climate-change data sets, NASA’s Dr. Reto A. Ruedy replied with an unequivocal no. He said “the National Climatic Data Center’s procedure of only using the best stations is more accurate,” admitting that some of his own procedures led to less accurate readings.

“My recommendation to you is to continue using NCDC’s data for the U.S. means and [East Anglia] data for the global means,” Ruedy told the reporter.

“NASA’s temperature data is worse than the Climate-gate temperature data. According to NASA,” wrote Christopher Horner, a senior fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute who uncovered the e-mails. Horner is skeptical of NCDC’s data as well, stating plainly: “Three out of the four temperature data sets stink.”

Global warming critics call this a crucial blow to advocates’ arguments that minor flaws in the “Climate-gate” data are unimportant, since all the major data sets arrive at the same conclusion — that the Earth is getting warmer. But there’s a good reason for that, the skeptics say: They all use the same data.
