CAIR Wants Media To Do Away With Use Of The Word “Islamist”

Sure, I’ll do away with using the word “Islamist.”—Just as soon as Ibrahim Hooper does away with the word “Islamophobe.”

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 1/3/13) — The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today distributed a commentary urging media outlets to drop the term “Islamist” because it is “currently used in an almost exclusively pejorative context.”

As many people make promises to themselves to improve their lives or their societies in the coming year, here is a suggested New Year’s resolution for media outlets in America and worldwide: Drop the term “Islamist.”

Unfortunately, the term “Islamist” has become shorthand for “Muslims we don’t like.” It is currently used in an almost exclusively pejorative context and is often coupled with the term “extremist,” giving it an even more negative slant.

There are few, if any, positive references to “Islamist” in news articles. There are also no — nor should there be — references to “Christianists,” “Judaists” or “Hinduists” for those who would similarly seek governments “in accord with the laws” of their respective faiths.

No journalist would think of referring to the “Judaist government of Israel,” the “Christianist leader Rick Santorum” or “Hinduist Indian politician Narendra Modi,” while use of “Islamist” has become ubiquitous. It might be an interesting exercise to hold a contest, the winner of which would be the first to find a positive mainstream media reference to “Islamist.”

False argument, Ibrahim.  

Besides, even the New York Times has called Israel’s government, “Jewish.”   (CLICK HERE for the link to the NYT’s corrections page and note the usage of the phrase, “the Jewish government,” in its first correction item).  

I’d say that fits quite neatly into your “Judaist government” criteria, Ibrahim.    What are you?  A Jewophobe?

Quite likely, such a contest would end up being similar to a unicorn hunt.

The frequent linkage of the term “Islamist” to violence and denial of religious and human rights is also strongly promoted by Islamophobic groups and individuals who seek to launch rhetorical attacks on Islam and Muslims, without the public censure that would normally accompany such bigoted attacks on any other faith.

Aha!  There it is!  Still using the term Islamophobe, are we, Ibrahim?  Why is it that you want to control our language, but we can’t touch yours?  

What are you?  A hypocrite?  Or, should I say, “Islamocrite?!”

Note to Our Readers

I apologize for the long absence and lack of response.  My work schedule has been rather hectic these past few weeks and I had to sacrifice blogging, for a bit, in order to juggle work and family.  Thank you all for your well wishes and concerns.  I appreciate that, deeply.

As for Ronin, I received an email from him a couple of weeks ago.  He is still out of the country on, uhm, “business,” and says that he won’t be able to get back to the States until around the first of the year.  He sends his best wishes to everyone and says, “Fight the good fight!  I have this side of the Pond.”

Anyway, my work situation has relaxed and, now, I can get back to what I love about blogging:  Hanging out with you all!

Congratulations, Rick Santorum, for Winning Four out of Eight States in the Primaries!

That’s one more state than Mitt Romney has won!

Yesterday, I dragged myself out of my sick bed to cast one of those “beauty pageant” ballots in Missouri’s Primary. 

Even though I’m an Independent, I had to register as a Republican since Missouri has separate ballots which tend to exclude us Independents from the Primary process.  Anyway, as expected, Newt “Salamander” Gingrich wasn’t on the ballot because he decided to snub Missouri and not pay the $1,000 filing fee; therefore, Missourians, including myself, decided to snub him right back and not give him a write-in!  Ergo, the race was focused solely between Mr. Omni (Mitt Romney) and Santorum.  

So, looking over the results from last night, one thing is clear:  Newt Gingrich is the number one reason why Mr. Omni is currently leading the Republican pack.  When Conservative voters are given only Santorum, Ron Paul, and Mr. Omni to choose from, they overwhelmingly choose Santorum. 

Therefore, if the bloated Salamander, Newt, really loved America as much as he says he does, he’d do the honorable thing and drop out.  But, he won’t do that, will he?  Nope.  He’s too full of himself and will slog on through the Primary process—thus assuring us of Mr. Omni (another RINO like McCain) winning in the Primaries…

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Public school students in Cambridge have the day off Monday as the schools are closed in observance of a Muslim religious holiday. Cambridge is the first district in the state to observe an Islamic holy day.

The Cambridge School Committee voted last year to close on one Muslim holiday every school year. Students are getting the day off for Eid al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice.

The decision came after a group of Muslim students at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School reached out to school staff, administrators and their fellow students to raise awareness of their religion.

“There are a lot of misconceptions, like, wearing a scarf is oppression. Well, how is it oppression if I choose to?” said Dunia Kassay.

Hey, Dunia, no one with a modicum of intelligence ever said that if you wanted to wear a scarf that it was somehow a sign of oppression; that’s your choice, your right.  What we are saying is that if you DON’T want to wear a headscarf, then the followers of your cultish, oppressive “religion” should accept your decision and not go around throwing acid on your face for not covering up.

School committee members said those meetings and the significant number of Muslim students in Cambridge schools were factors in their decision. There are only a few other cities in the U.S. that recognize Muslim holidays.

“People recognize three major religions in this country — Christianity, Judaism and Islam. It didn’t seem right that we would close for two of those religions, but not the third,” said school committee member Marc McGovern.

I’ve got a few questions for you, Marc:  Who are these “people” and what exactly is your definition of “recognize?”   More importantly, what the heck do you consider a “major” religion?  After all, Buddhism is a major religion in America, too.  Are we to start pandering to all those holidays as well?  Maybe you can show us how inclusive you are and start celebrating Vesākha in May.  Then, since I see that you already celebrate the Wiccan Winter Holidays, why not throw in a few Hindu and Scientology holidays as well.  Heck, after a while, you can eliminate an entire calendar year of school days.  That would be just fine with me since it would also mean that you would be out of a job.

Muslims pray five times a day and observe two high holy days: Eid-al-Adha and Eid-al-Fatr. Every year, the city will close schools for one of the two holidays, depending on which falls in the calendar school year.

“It’s kind of just like a way to put ourselves on a map in a way that people understand who we actually are,” said Kassay.

Aha!  So, what you are saying, in essence, is that it’s really not about religious observances as much as it is about sticking your nose in the tent and drawing attention to yourself.

If both fall in the calendar school year, the district will only close for only one of those days.

“The Cambridge School Committee cannot change world politics, but within our district, within our jurisdiction, we can stand up and say, ‘We are going to show respect. We are going to honor a very vibrant and large community,'” said McGovern.

Barney “The Gay Dinosaur” Wants Runaway Inflation

Yes, you heard that right.  Barney Frank wants runaway inflation! 

Why?  Well, first answer me this:  What happens when the Fed increases interest rates?  Historically, inflation ratchets up.  Currently, there are several members on the Federal Reserve Board who are “hawkish.”  That means, with all this monetizing of the debt under the enigmatic title of Quantitative Easing, they are VERY concerned about runaway inflation if the Fed increases the interest rates. 

Right now, since the Fed and Congress have mucked around too much with the economy, it’s a game of plugging holes in the economic dam as fast as you can to keep it from bursting and drowning Americans in a tidal wave of rapid inflation.  Obviously, keeping interest rates low is paramount to keeping the structural stability of a damaged economic dam in check.  Barney Frank wants to pull that emergency plug by getting rid of those hawkish board members.

So, back to my original question:  Why?  Well, considering that Barney Frank championed ACORN until it became a political liability and was, quite literally and figuratively, in bed with Fannie Mae which began the financial collapse of our economy in 2008, one can only conclude that Barney Frank continues to embrace the Cloward-Piven Strategy to effect Change you can believe in.  Either that, or he has been smoking way too much ganja:

Under its current structure, 12 of the Fed’s 19 members vote at interest rate setting meetings. The seven members of the Fed’s board of governors in Washington, who are appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate.

The regional Fed presidents are picked by their individual boards of directors, often regional bankers and local business leaders. While the president of the key Federal Reserve Bank of New York also always has a vote on the FOMC, the remaining eleven Fed bank presidents rotate as voting members.

In a discussion on CNBC of his bill, Frank said the current Fed structure is undemocratic. He noted that regional Fed bank presidents are not picked by elected officials, so they should not vote on key public-policy issues such as setting the level of interest rates.

In other words, Barney Frank wants to strip control from the board members on the Fed and give absolute control over the interest rates to the government!  More government, more control, more economic disasters.  Does anyone care to guess as to which ideological path this is heading down?  I’ll help you out:  Communism!

Regional Fed bank presidents are picked by their boards of directors, made up of regional bankers and local business leaders.

“I think it is fine for them to sit in and make recommendations,” but when it comes to voting they should be excluded, Frank said.

Their presence as voting members “it totally inconsistent with any kind of theory of democracy,” Frank said.

“It undermines legitimacy when you have literally people who are in the financial industry picking people to vote on setting interest rates,” Frank said.

Uh…  Okay, let’s all pause for a moment and let the hypocrisy of Barney’s statements really sink in…

Hey, Where Are All Those Mideast Muslim Mobs Celebrating Osama Bin Laden’s Death???

Sure, it’s no surprise that American Muslims are celebrating Osama Bin Laden’s death, but curiously absent are the other billion or so Muslims living in other countries. 

Where are all those great videos of  jubilation and elation in the Mideast?  I mean, when the Twin Towers fell, Mideast Muzzies were out celebrating en masse.  Now, I can excuse that because, at that time, they were under the impression that OBL was one of them.  However, for the past ten years, Muslims have gone out of their way to assure us that they deplore OBL and his brand of “radical”  Islam.  So, quite naturally, I would have expected Mideast Muslims to be out celebrating en masse at the news that OBL had been killed.  Curiously enough, I haven’t seen any coverage like that on the news.

Now, I don’t have cable, I just get what I pick up over the rabbit ears, so maybe I’m missing it, but I thought for sure someone from ABC, CBS, or NBC would jump at the chance to show Muslims in other countries celebrating and dancing and reveling over the news that OBL was DOA.  But, nada.  Maybe I missed it when I was switching from channel to channel trying to catch all of the news broadcasts this evening.  Yeah, that’s it.  Maybe I just missed it…

Question for You: Why Did Obama Order Osama Killed, Not Captured? UPDATED

U.S. team’s mission was to kill bin Laden, not capture

(Reuters) – The U.S. special forces team that hunted down Osama bin Laden was under orders to kill the al Qaeda mastermind, not capture him, a U.S. national security official told Reuters.

“This was a kill operation,” the official said, making clear there was no desire to try to capture bin Laden alive in Pakistan.

After the giddiness wore off over the news of Osama’s demise, I have been asking myself some serious questions about all of this.  The quick burial at sea was quite a letdown for the American people as it didn’t allow for them to see the body on display for the press.   This is REALLY going to bite Obama in the butt later on.  After all, you still have a bunch of tin-foil hatters out there who saw planes fly into the Twin Towers and yet are convinced that the government blew up those same buildings using high explosives.  So, why the quick burial at sea?  Sure, you don’t want to bury him on American soil, or any other soil for that matter, as this will no doubt become a martyr’s shrine for his supporters.  However, why so fast?  What was the hurry? He’s dead.  He’s not going anywhere and al-Qaeda doesn’t have the time and resources to hunt down and engage a fully armed military vessel in the middle of the ocean.  Obama should have personally flown out there with GW Bush and done one of those “Mission Accomplished” photo-op thingies.  THEN he could have buried Osama at sea with all the proper Muslim and political platitudes on display for an eager press to eat up and dish out to the world and a hungry America.

This would have added an extra boost to Obama’s approval rating and given Americans a more satisfying conclusion than what we got—which was just Obama doing his usual schtick of self-aggrandizing while reading the teleprompter, “I did this, I did that, I ordered this, I ordered that, me, me, me, I, I, I…”  Hey, Obama!  You didn’t do anything exceptional enough to warrant such an ostentatious speech as what you gave last night!  You merely did the job you were hired to do and that was that.  Get over yourself!

Which leads me to my next, big question:  Why did Obama order Osama killed, not captured?

Did we not want to garner any actionable intelligence from al-Qaeda’s number one?  What if OBL was planning a major attack which could kill thousands in the United States and everything and everyone were already in place?  Wouldn’t it make more sense to keep the option open of waterboarding Osama rather than closing that avenue off by ordering him killed, not captured?  Doesn’t Obama want to save American lives?  What better way than to capture and interrogate one of the most high-level terrorists out there, Osama bin laden?

Unlike what the Lefturds and Libtards would have you believe, it is quite obvious that torture actually works in obtaining important, high-level information.  In fact, the killing of Osama is directly attributable to Bush’s use of waterboarding at Gitmo!   Hidden amongst the background noise this morning concerning Osama’s killing is this interesting tidbit:

It wasn’t until August of last year that intelligence officials found the brothers’ residence in Abbottabad, a medium-size city home to Pakistan’s most prestigious military academy.

“When we saw the compound where the brothers lived, we were shocked by what we saw — an extraordinarily unique compound,” an administration official said.

Twelve- to 18-foot walls topped by barbed wire surrounded the three-story villa, roughly eight times as large as surrounding homes. Additional walls segmented the interior, providing more security and privacy.

“Our best assessment, based on a large body of reporting from multiple sources, was that bin Laden was living there with several family members, including his youngest wife,” an official said.

So, it is quite obvious that waterboarding works!  Surely this lesson has not been lost on Obama.  He is directly reaping the rewards that came not from his brand of kumbayah-isms when dealing with terrorists, but from the cold-hard reality of the necessity to torture some of our enemies should the need arise.  Obviously, when it comes to torture, GW Bush has been vindicated and Obama has been proven dead wrong in his vehement opposition to the use of torture!  Yet, here we have Obama taking all the credit for the foundations that were clearly laid down by Bush.  Think about this for awhile; if Obama finds torture to be morally reprehensible, then why did he chuck his “morals” out the window and use the information gleaned from torture to kill Osama?  It would be like me driving my daughter down to Planned Barrenhood even though I morally and logically oppose abortion.  Sheer hypocrisy! 

Remember when Obama defined what he believed sin to be?  He said that sin was, “being out of alignment with my values.”  Seems to me that Obama has just sinned against himself.   But, I digressed…

Clearly, this is not a victory for Obama’s “morals” as much as it is a vindication of Bush’s policies.

Speaking of Bush, remember when Bush would say, “dead or alive” whenever talking about getting OBL?  Where was that “alive” part in your plan, Mr. Obama?  That makes you a murderer, Obama.  You know, that label you pin on our American troops who shoot first and ask questions later, thereby ignoring your stupid kumbayah rules of engagement in Afghanistan?  Problem is, our American troops are actually in harm’s way when they make the decision to buck your silly rules of engagement and take out the threat.  On the other hand, you, Mr. Obama, were not in harm’s way at all, yet you ordered the killing of Osama WITHOUT tempering it by also ordering that Osama be captured alive if possible.

Not that I am upset over the killing of Osama Bin Laden—he got what he deserved—but like I said, failing to issue a tempered “dead or alive” order makes you a cold-blooded murderer, Mr. Obama.

UPDATE:  “Islams Not For Me” informed us that Osama Bin Laden was killed while hiding behind a woman who was also killed in the operation.  Where are all those kumbayah rules of engagement, Mr. Obama?  Why are you tying the hands of our troops in Afghanistan with all this kumbayah crap and, yet, when it comes to your own little military operation, you don’t need to play by the rules that you established?  Do you know who else didn’t play by the rules he had established for everyone else to religiously follow?  Muhammad, that’s who!

Osama Bin Laden Has Been Killed!

Great news!  I knew we were close.  There had been a lot of chatter recently about OBL and his whereabouts.  It seems that when the situation in Libya picked up, OBL had come out of hiding and there was a big al-Qaeda meeting a few weeks ago.  When I heard that, I knew OBL had screwed up!  From the March 25, 2011 issue of Asia Times :

Osama bin Laden killed by U.S. missile strike

Osama bin Laden was reportedly killed.

President Barack Obama is scheduled to address the nation at approximately 8:15 p.m. PT.

According to ABC News sources, al-Qaida mastermind Osama bin Laden was killed in Afghanistan sometime last week. The attack was reportedly a U.S. military or intelligence missile strike.

American forces reportedly have possession of bin Laden’s body.

On the radio yesterday, I heard an interview with Harry Alford, president and CEO of the National Black Chamber of Commerce. It’s a great interview and I thought I’d share it with you all.

‘Transparent’ Obama Banishes Reporter for Videoing Protesters at Fundraiser in SF

How’s that “Transparency in Government” working out for you?  How about that little thing called “Freedom of the Press?”  You can’t say that I didn’t warn these journalists even before the 2008 elections that Obama was going to throw their cherished 1st Amendment rights right out the window.  He does it all the time, and still the “psychophants” in the reporter pool continue to fatuously engage in administration fellation:

White House officials have banished one of the best political reporters in the country from the approved pool of journalists covering presidential visits to the Bay Area for using now-standard multimedia tools to gather the news.

The Chronicle’s Carla Marinucci – who, like many contemporary reporters, has a phone with video capabilities on her at all times -shot some protesters interrupting an Obama fundraiser at the St. Regis Hotel.

She was part of a “print pool” – a limited number of journalists at an event who represent their bigger hoard colleagues – which White House press officials still refer to quaintly as “pen and pad” reporting.

But that’s a pretty Flintstones concept of journalism for an administration that presents itself as the Jetsons. Video is every bit a part of any journalist’s tool kit these days as a functioning pen that doesn’t leak through your pocket.

The President and his staffers deftly used social media like Twitter and Facebook in his election campaign and continue to extol the virtues and value. Except, apparently, when it comes to the press.

So what’s up with the White House? We can’t say because neither Press Secretary Jay Carney nor anyone from his staff would speak on the record.

Other sources confirmed that Carla was vanquished, including Chronicle editor Ward Bushee, who said he was “informed that Carla was removed as a pool reporter.” Which shouldn’t be a secret in any case because it’s a fact that affects the newsgathering of our largest regional paper (and sfgate)and how local citizens get their information.

What’s worse: more than a few journalists familiar with this story are aware of some implied threats from the White House of additional and wider punishment if Carla’s spanking became public. Really? That’s a heavy hand usually reserved for places other than the land of the free.
