Australian Ethicists Argue in Favor of Infanticide in the “Journal of Medical Ethics”

When one plays God, incongruously divining right from wrong, the konzentrationslagern surely loom on the horizon:

Ethicists Argue in Favor of ‘After-Birth Abortions‘ as Newborns ’Are Not Persons’

Liz Klimas – The Blaze

Two ethicists working with Australian universities argue in the latest online edition of the Journal of Medical Ethics that if abortion of a fetus is allowable, so to should be the termination of a newborn.

Alberto Giubilini with Monash University in Melbourne and Francesca Minerva at the Centre for Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics at the University of Melbourne write that in “circumstances occur[ing] after birth such that they would have justified abortion, what we call after-birth abortion should be permissible.”

The two are quick to note that they prefer the term “after-birth abortion“ as opposed to ”infanticide.” Why? Because it “[emphasizes] that the moral status of the individual killed is comparable with that of a fetus (on which ‘abortions’ in the traditional sense are performed) rather than to that of a child.” The authors also do not agree with the term euthanasia for this practice as the best interest of the person who would be killed is not necessarily the primary reason his or her life is being terminated. In other words, it may be in the parents’ best interest to terminate the life, not the newborns.

The circumstances, the authors state, where after-birth abortion should be considered acceptable include instances where the newborn would be putting the well-being of the family at risk, even if it had the potential for an “acceptable” life. The authors cite Downs Syndrome as an example, stating that while the quality of life of individuals with Downs is often reported as happy, “such children might be an unbearable burden on the family and on society as a whole, when the state economically provides for their care.”

This means a newborn whose family (or society) that could be socially, economically or psychologically burdened or damaged by the newborn should have the ability to seek out an after-birth abortion. They state that after-birth abortions are not preferable over early-term abortions of fetuses but should circumstances change with the family or the fetus in the womb, then they advocate that this option should be made available.

The authors go on to state that the moral status of a newborn is equivalent to a fetus in that it cannot be considered a person in the “morally relevant sense.” On this point, the authors write:

Both a fetus and a newborn certainly are human beings and potential persons, but neither is a ‘person’ in the sense of ‘subject of a moral right to life’. We take ‘person’ to mean an individual who is capable of attributing to her own existence some (at least) basic value such that being deprived of this existence represents a loss to her.

[…]

Merely being human is not in itself a reason for ascribing someone a right to life. Indeed, many humans are not considered subjects of a right to life: spare embryos where research on embryo stem cells is permitted, fetuses where abortion is permitted, criminals where capital punishment is legal.

U.S. Most Charitable Nation in the World

21 December, 2011

Just thought I’d throw this out there.  Who knows?  You can always use it as ammunition when sparring with some anti-American idiot on the web:

U.S. jumps to top of charity index

By Lauren Markoe| Religion News Service – WaPo

WASHINGTON — Americans: the most generous people in the world. In this season of giving, that’s no idle gloat.

According to a new study, the United States tops a massive global charity survey, rising from fifth place in 2010.

The “World Giving Index,” based on 150,000 interviews with citizens of 153 nations, ranks the U.S. highest on a scale that weighed monetary donations, volunteer work, and willingness to help out a stranger.

“In spite of economic hardships and uncertainty in the future, the American spirit is caring and strong, as these survey findings clearly show,” said David Venne, interim CEO of CAFAmerica, the Virginia-based charities consultant that released the results of the index.

Anonymous donors pay off Kmart layaway accounts

16 December, 2011

I thought it was about time that we ran some good news. Stories like this are more common than people think. America is special because American’s are special. This story will remind you of what is really important in life.

For the last few years, I have dropped off Cash at area Churches and asked the pastor to give it to whoever needs it most. I never place limits on it, as much as I see the need to give Christmas to kids, I would be equally happy if it helped pay a bill or buy a nice meal. The idea is simple, help someone and just look for the opportunity to perform a random act of kindness.

Margery A. Beck, 15 Dec 2011, (AP)
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The young father stood in line at the Kmart layaway counter, wearing dirty clothes and worn-out boots. With him were three small children.

-My normal dress is dirty clothes and worn-out boots but don’t be sending old Ronin any gifts. I do encourage everyone to help someone. Pay a bill for them, hire someone to do a chore (or do it yourself) a chore they cannot afford or just do not have the time to do.

He asked to pay something on his bill because he knew he wouldn’t be able to afford it all before Christmas. Then a mysterious woman stepped up to the counter.

“She told him, ‘No, I’m paying for it,'” recalled Edna Deppe, assistant manager at the store in Indianapolis. “He just stood there and looked at her and then looked at me and asked if it was a joke. I told him it wasn’t, and that she was going to pay for him. And he just busted out in tears.”

At Kmart stores across the country, Santa seems to be getting some help: Anonymous donors are paying off strangers’ layaway accounts, buying the Christmas gifts other families couldn’t afford, especially toys and children’s clothes set aside by impoverished parents.

Before she left the store Tuesday evening, the Indianapolis woman in her mid-40s had paid the layaway orders for as many as 50 people. On the way out, she handed out $50 bills and paid for two carts of toys for a woman in line at the cash register.

“She was doing it in the memory of her husband who had just died, and she said she wasn’t going to be able to spend it and wanted to make people happy with it,” Deppe said. The woman did not identify herself and only asked people to “remember Ben,” an apparent reference to her husband.

-Rest in Peace Ben, your wife is one special woman and her love for you has helped encourage entire families. God Bless her.

Deepe, who said she’s worked in retail for 40 years, had never seen anything like it.
“It was like an angel fell out of the sky and appeared in our store,” she said.
Most of the donors have done their giving secretly.

Dona Bremser, an Omaha nurse, was at work when a Kmart employee called to tell her that someone had paid off the $70 balance of her layaway account, which held nearly $200 in toys for her 4-year-old son.

-I do not know many people with the resources to do this sort of thing but some of you can do other smaller random acts of kindness. Help someone this weekend. If you cannot pay off a bill, leave a Christmas card with just kind words on their door. Call on a elderly neighbor and bring a nice pie with you. People need encouragement, especially in this economy. (more…)

A meaningful gift

20 November, 2011

By Ronin, 20 Nov 11.

Ask any Christian and they will tell you that the Christmas holiday season is not about gifts, it is meant to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Many atheists will tell you that it is all about commercialism and pushing a religious agenda. The problem that I have always had with the non-Christians and their attacks on all things Christmas is I have never known a single one of them to return a Christmas gift or refuse one until it was renamed a “holiday gift”.

This is the time of year when stores merge holidays sending mixed messages of support to a wide variety of belief systems. No doubt an effort to please everyone with a dollar in his or her pocket. Happy Holidays appears magically on windows before Thanksgiving and Christmas trees magically become “holiday trees”. Forget all the drama and concentrate on one simple idea, give something meaningful.

Every year we see more stories in the press on how Christmas is being marginalized and how the more educated (mostly anti Christian) elite want the season to be fair to all religions and recognize a glorious holiday for everyone.

To be fair, Christians should not shop or give gifts from places that do not honor their beliefs, shop somewhere that wants your money or let the anti religious holiday crowd shop there. Spend your money where it will do the most good and that supports your holiday goals all year.

This year I am worried about gifts being available to all those Americans that choose to celebrate life and that believe the holiday season is a special time. A time to give freely and spread cheer in a world hurt by partisan politics, special interests and after years of economic strife. Reflect on what you have and I think you will see that we all have an opportunity.

It is the season to give but should we, can we and how can we make each gift count? That is the real issue. Forget your problems and concentrate on others. Give in a way that helps give Americans jobs and a real hope for the future. So consider giving gifts that are meaningful, gifts designed to help others. The best part of this plan is you do not have to limit it to Christians, let us help as many Americans as we can this holiday season. (more…)

U.S. Forest Service is Evicting Jesus

28 October, 2011

I already knew this country was lost spiritually but it is one thing to be anti religion it is another to directly attack it. The government had decided to pull the statue after a group from Wisconsin complained it violated the First Amendment’s guarantee of separation of church and state. I say F- the Wisconsin group; you have no right to tell anyone in Montana what to put in their forest. The forest service has never had the mission of attacking any religion and ordering a historical memorial removed is not just a simple policy change, this is an in your face attack on Christians.

Until I see Christians attacking forest service vehicles, burning trees or trashing the graves of forest service workers, I will have to say the forest service and the anti Christians in Wisconsin are the clear aggressors in this situation.

Usually I condemn all politicians and to be honest Congressman Rehberg’s letter is very weak but I will give him cudos for attempting to do the right thing even if his attempt was weak, ineffective and probably without a hint of heartfelt outrage.

Show the forest service some love, the American Family Association (AFA) has a website where you can write Mr. Tidwell and Ms. Weldon, the ever watchful, Christian rights bashing Forest Service representatives and let them know what you think of their attempts to decide what you can see on Public land. Just do not burn any trees, I ‘m sure the forest service has a few sane people left.

Paste the link, make some phone calls and show your love, you should also help the AFA spread the word of this outrage, I did.

BILLINGS, MT – Montana’s Congressman, Denny Rehberg, today urged the United States Forest Service to reconsider its denial of a permit extension for an historically significant World War II Memorial statue of Jesus that has been located in the Flathead National Forest near Kalispell, MT since 1953. The statue, maintained by the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1328 and celebrated by the local community, sits on a 25’ by 25’ parcel of land leased from the Forest Service.

-I hope you caught that, the site is maintained at zero cost to the public but that is not good enough for the Forest Service.

“When I visited it earlier this year, I saw first-hand that this memorial is an irreplaceable part of our state’s history and a unique and colorful part of the local culture,” said Rehberg. “The Forest Service’s denial of the lease defies common sense. Using a tiny section of public land for a war memorial with religious themes is not the same as establishing a state religion. That’s true whether it’s a cross or a Star of David on a headstone in the Arlington National Cemetery, an angel on the Montana Vietnam Memorial in Missoula or a statue of Jesus on Big Mountain. The Forest Service is just flat wrong to deny this lease on those grounds, and I’m working hard to get them to do the right thing.”

-And so you should. (more…)

Chinese Successfully Test Penis Attack Eel

13 September, 2011

I got over poisoned baby and dog food, I can deal with defective power tools and I understand slaves make horrible electronics, but this is too much. Training animals to attack a mans penis is beyond evil.

I realize this is part of a master plan to fight back against the global pro homosexual agenda but it is still evil.

I also heard the eel is an unwilling victim forced into service by the evil Chinese government. I wouldn’t put it past um.

Mark Pangallo, Metro, 13th September, 2011

Zhang Nan was bathing with live eels to cleanse his skin when one rogue serpent took a liking to his manhood.

-I realize that most of you are reading this and wondering why I posted it but you have to remember, we search the global media to warn you about threats and penis attack eels are no laughing matter. The chinese are sick and twisted to even consider this as an option.

The eel treatment in question is a similar concept to the popular London spas that offer fish pedicures.

-I get the chinese testing a new weapon, they are evil but the Brits do it because they are stupid and wait until you read what the hindu kids play with.

Thinking that the eels would make him look ten years younger, Nan dived into the water and let them feast upon layers of dead skin.

-Um, look chin, I think someone has played a bad trick on you.

But after laying in the spa bath, Nan felt a sharp pain and realised a small eel was working its way up his urethra and into his bladder.

‘I climbed into the bath and I could feel the eels nibbling my body. But then suddenly I felt a severe pain and realised a small eel had gone into the end of my penis,’ the 56-year-old from Honghu, Hubei province said.

-He should have used Kung Fu to protect himself. (more…)

Muslim women take whore lessons.

6 June, 2011

So let me break this down. Muslim men cannot be trusted, blame their women, the women agree with the untrustworthy men and prostitute themselves. Sounds more than a little stupid to me.

June 6, 2011, AFP
A group of Malaysian women launched an “Obedient Wife Club” on Saturday, urging members to be “whores in bed” and obey their husbands to curb social ills such as divorce and domestic violence.
-Hate to break it to ya babe but violence and islam go together like obama and lying, the two can never be separated.

Islamic group Global Ikhwan held the club’s inaugural meeting in Kuala Lumpur, giving women tips on how to keep their men satisfied and prevent them from straying.

“A good wife is perceived to be prim and proper – you just take care of the children – but not much is emphasised on fulfilling sexual needs of the husband. If he needs sex, obey him,” Rohaya Mohamad, the club’s vice-president said.

Dr Rohaya, 46, said 30 per cent of the club members were in polygamous marriages while the rest were in monogamous relationships and that the club was open to non-Muslims.
-Minions always claim these scam organizations are open to non-muslims but try and attend one and see how tolerant your new friends really are.

“You must satisfy your husband. A good wife should be a whore in bed,” said Dr Rohaya, whose husband has three other wives.
-For a doctor she is a real idiot. If she was following her own advice her husband would have only a single wife. I guess she needs better whore lessons.

Pacifists Revolution calls for Violence

9 April, 2011

By Ronin, 9 April, 2011

I have noticed a trend in the propaganda tossed casually about by liberals, the agenda driven social reformers and “community activists”. The new theme is encouraging violence as being necessary to attain their goals. Remember this theme: we are not pacifists.”

I will not put the links on this site as I do not want their message to spread, it is just not that important. The issue is not the call for violence, although disturbing, the bigger issues are less obvious.

There are two things that need our attention; the call for violence and what groups we need to watch. The call for violence is not new, some of the groups have been encouraging attacks against the system much longer than others. So far, I have seen no law enforcement involvement, they are ignoring these groups. Maybe they are busy watching the Tea Party and wondering why they are so tolerant, respectful and passive. Whatever the reason our law enforcement types are ignoring this trend.

The second issue is the wide spread of the problem. Groups that claim to be peace-loving forces for change are openly calling for an attack on our infrastructure (they are on tape). So far, I have not noticed any members leaving in disgust, calling the police or turning over the tapes to the news. Ok, I really did not expect any of those to happen but if I were in the audience at a Tea Party rally and the speaker’s encouraged violence that is exactly what would have happened. The speaker’s microphone would have been shut down and the speakers call for violence reported to local law enforcement. New speeches would have been made condemning the call for violence and a message countering violence given out.

You should have no problem finding videos from leftists calling for violence on liveleak, youtube and other media. If you really want to see the level of hate being casually tossed around, help yourself. It should not take you more than a few minutes to see them for yourselves.

Just to be clear here, I do not believe them. These people are cowards attempting to force change through trickery, corruption and graft. I doubt they are smart enough or brave enough to threaten America’s infrastructure. Nevertheless, I also expect that to change. (more…)

Annual brainwash America day set for 15 April.

7 April, 2011

April 15th is love a fag, pervert, freak and anti Christian value day, in American schools. Held as an annual event to support sexual freaks and perverts, the event is designed to make your children think that holding people responsible for personal choices is somehow wrong.

The idea is for normal Americans to support gays and to protect them from bullying and harassment. I am not sure who is oppressing them but they want it stopped. I am also not sure how sitting quietly and not participating in school helps. However, it is supposed to work, I do not like, support or condone it. Damn, that sounded intolerant.

Since I cannot think of a mainstream television show without a gay character (usually one of the few characters that is not a nutjob) I doubt that the gays are really oppressed at all. I strongly doubt that the few that are will require an entire day just to support them. If the gays are really in need of support they should group up and march right beside the straight people in the annul heterosexual rights parade. Oh, damn, we don’t have one, you fags are all a bunch of intolerant a-holes. (more…)

Elections call for a Pre Combat Inspection

Elections call for a Pre Combat Inspection

By Ronin, 6 April, 11.
It looks like another round of US election madness will soon be on us. That means, extreme lies, lots of accusations, demands and threats from agenda driven individuals and groups. Are you ready?

Have you considered that the same people tossing around claims of tea party extremists and warnings of violence are lying, that they are the extremists? They could be more interested in stopping your rights and controlling you, than they are about voting for the best possible candidates, protecting this country and your values.

To protect yourself you need to prepare, take an inventory, find out what you need and go get it. Clean it, organize it and practice with it. It is doubtful that things will get better for you or your family, friends or co-workers, at least before the election. Who do you trust to fix this mess and why? Voting party over ability is not only stupid it is cowardice. Do you understand the issues enough to discuss them with others?

Consider every potential scenario. From nice peaceful election to a “disaster” requiring the election to be postponed. What rights do you want protected and whom do you think will do it and who will not? How can you argue your own views with friends, coworkers and strangers unless you know what you believe? You need to get ready to defend yourself, your values and your rights. (more…)
